Praying God's will shows in your work today Rosey - good luck

Praying too for all the families who have lost loved ones through wars, fighting, battle and trying to keep the peace. Lord bless them with your comfort and love.

CD - you're right re. issues needing resolving...I've done 4 years of counselling and truly believe I am at peace with myself. Sadly, no-one else in the family has done anything apart from bury their heads in the sand. So they continue to live in denial and clearly do not see any consequence to their actions. I explored in counselling my families behaviour, and what I wanted from them to help me heal. Came to the conclusion that what I wanted was never going to happen but had to realise that I can't make people change. All I can do is keep myself safe emotionally from what they do/say.
Odd that the only person who has said sorry is my brother.

Anyhoo we have better things to talk about on a Sunday morning, like the lie in because service starts at 10.45 . 7am is a lie in isn't it?

MaryBS · 11/11/2007 09:37

CCM - you're very brave and I'm full of admiration for you!!! Its a huge step in the healing process if you can stop what has happened from hurting you any more. You can't change what has happened, but you can't move on until you can feel healed in yourself. You're a big inspiration to me!

CD - sorry to hear you and DH arent getting much out of church atm. If you need to bend an ear, I'm here.

Rosey, praying all goes well for you today. I'm sure you're be inspirational, as the spirit has clearly touched you, and this will be evident when you speak!

Mufti - thanks for your good wishes. I'm thinking of taking the phone of the hook tomorrow night, and not going into work on Tuesday . Too embarrassing!

Its DH's birthday today, and we're ALL going to church for the remembrance day service (also 10:45)

CaptainDippy · 11/11/2007 10:12

Lots of admiration here too, CC - It is great that you feel that way - I just pray that one day all of your fmaily can comes to terms with issues and be at peace. All you can do is love them and pray for them ..... We're all praying for them too!

Thank you Mary - means a lot to know you lot are here! Hope you have a good service, praying for God to speak to your DH - and Happy Birthday too!

Right, younger two down, I hope - DD1 coming back soon and then off to Party.....

Prayers for me as I feel anxiety creeping up on me today.

DutchOma · 11/11/2007 13:04

Piccies are lovely CD

Notquitegrownup · 11/11/2007 13:48

Morning all. Flying by.

Gorgeous photos CD!

God bless all.

Roseylea · 11/11/2007 15:29

Yes, fab pics CD - your gorgeous girls! (and gorgeous you as well - you're v. photogenic!) Sorry church is not great atm - I am praying for you in that.

It went really well this a.m. - actually the vicar was late!!! So he didn't hear my bit!!! But it did go really well! I really enjoyed the Sunday school - the older kids and I sat chatting for ages, doing a craft activity, and by the end they were asking me all sorts of questions about myself, so I felt that was a really good relationship-establishing session - as I'm learning, with children it's just as important to chat about food and holidays as it is to teach them about Jesus - or rather, you can't really do the latter unless you've already done the former. The medium is the message and all that. I'm tired now though, and I've spent all afternoon card-making listening to classic Disney music with my darlings!

God bless all xxx

podglet · 11/11/2007 15:44

Hi all,

Thanks for the new thread CD - you are wonderful! Love the new photos, you are all lovely!

NSFN - thinking of you lots as you struggle with your Dsis and the nasty situation at DD's school. I'm with DO on the head standing!

Praying for all and their different and difficult situations. Am so sorry I don't have time to post individually but please know I am thinking and praying for all of you.

I was on the High st in Colchester today in time for the remembrance parade. It was so moving to see all the veterans marching proudly with their medals on their coats. Had a little cry for my gran who I still miss unbelievably (she only died in Aug).

Please can you pray for my knee? I've hurt it really badly and I don't know how

Will try for a better catch up in the week.

CaptainCaveman · 11/11/2007 16:07

Praying for your knee Podglet - lots of RICE (rest, ice, compression and elevation). Hugs for you and your Nan who is with Jesus.

Please could you pray for my dear friend D, I just found out she was admitted to hospital last friday with severe pnd. She's in a mum and baby unit but has 2 other ds' at home with her dh. The lo is just 6 mo. She's been suffering for some time but I didn't know as we haven't been in touch so much. I'm thanking God that her dh rang me and am hoping to visit her soon when she's up to it. Please God surround her with your love, comfort and compassion.

PandaG · 11/11/2007 16:38

Glad it went well Rosey, you are so right, the relationship building stuff is so important, to be able to talk about God with integrity.

Praying for your friend CC. I've had a friend in the same situation too, but she is so much better now.

CD - praying for your church situation honey, not good if you are not happy. Praying that God will meet you where you are. I too am here if you want to bend an ear

Mary - happy birthday to your DH, great he came to church with you today. Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow!

I was asked to give out communion today - first time I have done that - it was really special to be able to serve in this way, and to say 'the blood of Christ given for you x' and personalise it for all the people Iknow by name.

CaptainDippy · 11/11/2007 20:26

How lovely, Panda - I do love the CofE way of doing Communion, I have to admit - I'm a traditionalist at heart, don't ya' know!!

You must be shattered, Rosey - Go to bed!! Fab that you are building a good rapport with these precious young people - so very important. xx

Praying for your poor knee, Podglet. xx

Praying for D, CC Poor woman, P is 6 months now and it is a looooong old time to have been suffering in silence. Praying God will bring swift healing to her so she and her little love can get home to your DH and other DC's where they belong.

Gooooood day today Birthday Party was fab and saw good friends who we haven't seen in a while this pm.

Thanks for offers of ear bending, Mary & Panda, might have to take you both up on that!

Ooooooh, don't forget, Mary's Eggheads tomorrow at 6pm! (See, I haven't forgotten! )

Thank you for compliments on my new pics too - esp Rosey for her compliment

I've got a BEAUTIFUL hymn to share with you all... will need to wait till tomorrow though, as its beddybyes time.

This AMs Remembrance day service was incredible! The church was packed to the hilt, have NEVER seen it like that before! We had 150 service sheets, and there wasn't enough for 1 between 2!!!! HUNDREDS of people paying their respects! Amazing!

CaptainDippy · 11/11/2007 21:40

How wonderful, Mary - What did DH think? Did he had a good Birthday?? Awwww, keeping us in suspenders about the hymn .... poo! >>

Can't you tell I am feeling a little crazzzzzeeee tonight!!?

OP posts:
MaryBS · 11/11/2007 21:49

DH had a great birthday.

But, go on then! I think we're ALL really struggling at the moment, and we are all struggling to pray because we are struggling with our own problems yet still conscious of the needs of others. This hymn, to me, pulls it all together, and (I hope you agree) pulls US all together. So, (to the tune of "all through the night")

Lord, we come to ask your healing, teach us of love;
all unspoken shame revealing, teach us of love.
Take our selfish thoughts and actions,
petty feuds, divisive factions,
hear us now to you appealing
teach us of love.

Soothe away our pain and sorrow, hold us in love;
grace we cannot buy or borrow, hold us in love.
Though we see but dark and danger, though we spurn both friend and stranger,
though we often dread tomorrow, hold us in love.

When the bread is raised and broken, fill us with love;
words of consecration spoken, fill us with love.
As our grateful prayers continue, make faith that we have in you
more than just an empty token, fill us with love.

Help us live for one another, bind us in love;
stranger, neighbour, father, mother - bind us in love.
All are equal at your table, through your Spirit make us able to embrace as sister, brother, bind us in love.

Love and God's blessings on you all!

Mary

MaryBS · 11/11/2007 21:52

3rd verse should be make THE faith that we have in you

CaptainDippy · 11/11/2007 21:54

Thank you for that, Mary.

Had terrible shock this morning officer at corps down the road died very suddenly only in his 50's. Can't believe it I used to work with these guys.

Please pray for his dw and 3 ds's and gc

Also General of The Salvation Army has just been diagnosed with cancer, all his overseas appointments have been cancelled till June 08 to enable chaemo, surgery and recovery.

sorry don't seem to be able to catch up again.

DutchOma · 12/11/2007 09:17

That must be such a shock, NSFN. In both cases.
And that on top of the hassle with dd and her school AND the ongoing issues with your separation from (d)h.
Praying for 'strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow'

Creambunnie, where are you? Are you alright?

CaptainDippy · 12/11/2007 10:39

Gosh nsfn - Praying for the Officers DW, DCs and DGCs too. When is the funeral? Praying for the General too .... a lot of you to take on board right now sweetie. xxxx How are you feeling today??

Yes, I've been thinking a lot of CreamBunnie too - Where are you love??

OP posts:
NorthernLurker · 12/11/2007 11:37

Good morning
CC - will pray dor D and her family that they may all be back together in good health soon.
Podgelet, prayers for your knee - how is it today?
Mary - loved that hymn - glad you had such a good service at church today.
Panda - I've 'done' communion in non-conformist style for many years now but I do miss the words said over the cup as handed out - makes it very personal doesn't it?
NSFN - will pray for all concerned in their loss and in the anxiety illness will cause

Can I just give thanks to God for the offer we have had on our house today - not a done deal yet as the buyers need to sell their house first but feels like a good step and I want to praise God for His goodness to us. I have had in my head Joshua 24.15 for a long time now "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord" - I feel like what I need to do is put my trust in God more and I am trying to do that - but as someone else as said - it's a struggle when things are hard.

CaptainDippy · 12/11/2007 12:07
