Mufti - I'm in North Yorkshire - so not to near Bolton I'm afraid.

CD - praying for peace for you - am starting project holiday home today - dh thinks I'm mad but I'm stepping out in faith and will let you know what happens.

cc - good to hear ds ok. If he has a scar you can say it's just like Harry Potter - that's what I say to dd1 - tripped putting her in the pushchair at 18 months, scary 'dent' in head - rushed to A&E - they asked me what happened, all I could say between sobs was 'I DROPPED her' - she was totally fine but has very small scar - it was right above her eye but as she has grown so it's moved up her head - is about half way up her forehead now.

Praying for D and her baby - ECT is scary but I understand that it really does work.

NorthernLurker · 29/11/2007 11:47

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh well done DIPPY!

CaptainDippy · 29/11/2007 11:52

Mary - yeah to finishing your sermon. I'd love to read a copy. I'll CAT you with my email address.

Hello Rachel. Great to see you. I'm 45, but still notquitegrownup! I'm mum to two dss, aged 4 and 7 and work part time - a day and a half a week - which I only just manage to fit in! We live in Oxford.

Helloo DO, Mufti and all.
Soooz, where are you?

God bless all.

CaptainDippy · 29/11/2007 12:17

Yes, I can confirm - notverygrownup at all!

I think we'll just work around it - Hoping MIL will come round to look after P, S can go with a friend to toddlers and hopefully DH can get the morning off to take K to the drs. Logistical nightmare, but worth it!!

I'm fine. Bit of a scare last night at church meeting when dh all of a sudden looked as if he had passed out, very white and slumped in the pew. He came to quite quickly, but was a bit confused, thought that the meeting had ended and started to gather up the hymnbooks. Someone took us home and he was fine. He suffers from epilepsy but this did not look like his 'normal' funny turn.

CaptainCaveman · 29/11/2007 13:26

How Scary DO - is he ok today?

yay CD, well done for getting interview!!

Study done for now - got to do a group presentation at uni tomorrow. I'm actually quite looking forwards to it.

ok, off to town with a friend this afternoon. Better go wash my hair, it feels like crap!!

CaptainDippy · 29/11/2007 15:11

Oh DO - how frigtening, for him and for you. I do hope he is a lot better today - thinking and praying. xx

I've got my gorgeous god daughter here atm while Worzella is at a meeting - going to another gig with DH tonight, and is school fair tomorrow afternoon, please pray it goes smoothly.

love and prayers for all - I mean to nick your generic prayer NL - I like it.

NorthernLurker · 29/11/2007 16:37

Nick away Panda

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the prayers for us with dh's work situation. Some promising leads so far and we both feel quite calm about the situation. We've had a couple of good bits of financial news this week which definately ease the wheels of the family waggon a bit and he and I are both enjoying having him around all day It's really nice to see him relax a bit now he hasn't got the work stress - things had been quite tough - and of course we have the lovely girls to keep us entertained. Big two had a furious dispute on the way home - about whether the Magi rode on horses (dd1) or camels (dd2). Dd1 attempted to gain the high ground by saying 'the Bible says...' but dd2 was having none of it and played her trump card - burst into tears. Please tell me I'm not the only one whose children dipute matters theological.....or are my offspring just odd ?

Anyway - I have really felt that the Lord will take care of us and guide us and I wanted to thank you all for your prayers. I'll keep you posted on developments

MaryBS · 29/11/2007 16:40

DO - how scary! Is he going to go to the Drs to get checked out? How is he today?

CC - it seems to be that time of year for bumps, everyone's children seem to be getting them! Maybe they're the new fashion statement? How did your friend d get on today?

CD - how are you feeling now? You know I'm here for you...

I GOT A DISTINCTION FOR MY ESSAY!!!!!

Panda, anytime you want to come down, you'd be welcome!

My sermon has been given the thumbs up, so that's a relief too.

Must dash, we're going to a pantomime tonight...

NorthernLurker · 29/11/2007 16:44

CaptainDippy · 29/11/2007 17:01

Hope you are feeling more energised and less shattered now Panda honey. Yes, your Goddaughter IS yummy - I remember her from the meet-up - enjoy! Praying fayre goes smoothly too. xx

Glad you and DH are feeling more peaceful about the work situation NL - God is holding you. "I won't let go til you bless me" - one of my favourite verses (paraphrased, obviously ).

Ooooh, (hopefully) going to do a PG test tomorrow morning - not sure what to pray really, but just pray!

The job is an admin job for local Council, 17hrs a week, based about 20 min drive away.....

Should be a there!

OP posts:
DutchOma · 29/11/2007 19:01

He's been fine today. We saw GP on a routine appointment and he has changed his medication again for a fortnight to see if it makes any difference, otherwise he will refer Bob to ENT for investigation. He hadn't had the referral letter to Glenfield Hospital in Leicester from the lung specialist and we haven't heard anything from then either, but we are seeing the lung specialist on Tuesday. It's all a bit baffling, so your prayers are much appreciated.

Roseylea · 29/11/2007 19:17

Hello all, just been reading nad prying for you all.

Hi Rachel! Where are you in Scotalnd? Welcome to the thread!

Mary well done! Maybe I'll pop by amd MW your church one day!!! (Although I'd have to wear a false moustache and a large hat, of course!)

CD ooh all the best for the interview. 17 hours is quite a lot, eh? I do 15 and find that quite enough (I'd love to do 10 ideally...)

DO scary for you and your dh. I am praying for you both.

Hi Panda! [waves] My luvverly vicar was talking about your church the other night!

Hee hee NorthernLurker - camels, horses, or, oooh, let me see - zebras? (That's what ds is in his nativity play!) And he insists that one of his friends is being baby Jesus and no of course they're not going to use a doll!

Well we are good - could you pry for dd please? She's finding school very hard atm (the work) and is in floods of tears every morning atm . She's v. happy at home, but just hates going to school. Poor love.

And I am going out for a meal with my mum and sister this evening! Very special!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 29/11/2007 19:19

Thanks very much for all the lovely welcomes! Nice to hear from everyone, tho I'll probably forget who said what or how many children they have! I think that's what happens with "screennames" that aren't necessarily directly related to who we are in real life, esp if the email address is very different, and the real name even more different! lol But I'm sure I'll get there eventually and know people by their pretend names! I'm Rachel in real life anyway, so that should be easy enough for you all!

Mufti: I don't seem to have an email from you - can you resend it please? to [email protected]

DutchOma: Yes, I do get out to church on Sundays with the kids and my husband. I try to manage both morning & evening on Sunday, but usually find it's a bit much to go midweek since it's rather late getting back home at night and babies end up fussy or don't want to go to bed etc.

So yes, I do get out of the house in that sense - but haven't really made any friends since moving here when I got married (I'm orignally from USA, so a bit of a foreigner to the UK! lol). But it seems to rain a lot here in Scotland (and I don't yet have a UK driving license), so unless we all go out as a family in the car, it's not so easy to get out in the rain. Yes, I know it's possible! But still, dark wet days seem to make one just stay in the house! We did have lovely sunshine today...along with quite a lot of rain too...but the bright days are nice!

We sell secondhand Christian books, mainly over the internet, but occasionally people come to the house. Since we work from home, it's not like we have an open storefront, but people can come see the books if we know they're coming. I'll not post the link here, but if you want to see our website, just email me & I'll give you the address.

So do you have a Dutch connection DutchOma or just like the name?

MaryBS · 29/11/2007 19:21

Yes, "Praise God" for my essay! Should have said that earlier .

NO MWing me Rosey! , but any of you would be welcome!

CaptainDippy · 29/11/2007 20:08

Hello again Yes, rosey, 17hrs does seem a lot; but it will take me just over the threashold for WFTC etc; so I figure it'll be worth it - right!!? Awwww, your poor DD and school Praying for a real breakthrough for her - Hope you have a super time out with your mum and your sis tonight, how lovely.

Your business sounds great Rachel [smile - so do you get to be together all the time!!? I do hope you find some nice people to mx with soon - best crack on with gaining that licence!!? xx

OP posts:
Notquitegrownup · 29/11/2007 21:18

Oooh CD. What time tomorrow will you do your test? Is it one of the first pee of the morning tests? I'll be logging on ten minutes afterwards!! Thinking of you.

DO praying for you and your dh.

Well done on the essay Mary!!

Oh, Rachel, I have a dh too! Just reread my post and I didn't even mention him! Typical, he would say!!

Well Mum phoned this evening. She's home, but sounds ghastly! It is still only five days after the operation, and I know that the anaesthetic can take a while to clear the system, but I'm glad that I answered the phone rather than the dss! I'm hoping to go up and see her next weekend, but your continued prayers would be appreciated. I can't bear to think of her coming down stairs on crutches, as she has to!

Goodnight and God bless all.

thebluefoxategreensocks · 29/11/2007 21:52

CaptainDippy: Yes, we get to spent lots of time together! It's lovely. I wouldn't know what it was like to have my husband away at work all day! Tho maybe that would force one to go out and meet other people. lol I suppose not being in the house all day with just kids makes it a bit different.

notsofarnow · 29/11/2007 22:50

Another one for cut head in our household today. Df was taking dd and ds to school as I was on mandatory training, had just logged onto computer to do computer based modules and phone went. DD had fallen going into playyard and has a gash down middle of forehead. Butterly stitches here too. Then went to pick ds up from nursery and she was sick all over the car.

Please pray for little girl 4 who died on possibly mon eve or Tues, mother has appeared in court today, don't know much more than that, but she did go to the school htat is just round the corner from me. Just can't even begin to imagine if it were in my circle of friends.

Thanks for prayers today girls. Am feeling a bit better, have been out for a lovely meal wiht 6 other mums from school. But just know that tomorrow when i'm on my own i'll just look at the house and I'll have that can't be bothered head on again.

Just don't know whats up wiht me at the min - maybe time to go back to gp but so don't want to.

CaptainCaveman · 29/11/2007 23:26

Awww, nsfn, sympathising with the cut head! ds feeling very proud of himself for his big butterfly stitches. How's your dd now? Must be something in the air!

Well, I am 3 sheets to the wind, having been to the pub with dh. Ahhh, and relax.....

Presentation is all done for tomorrow, just gotta turn up and talk!

Mary - WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO* for your distinction - well done you

much love to you all
