A shiny new thread for a bright shiny new year.

This is a place to pause, be still and count our blessings, great and small. Everyone is welcome, whether you have faith of any kind or none at all.

We would love for you to join with us as we celebrate the good things from loving families to washing drying on the line😁

Today was a bit frustrating all round so I'm grateful to be able to clean the slate now and welcome a new day tomorrow.

Sometimes that's all we can do. 💛💙

I am reminded of the Thich Nhat Hahn mantra

"Waking up this morning, I smile. Twenty-four brand new hours are before me. I vow to live fully in each moment and to look at all beings with eyes of compassion"

Each new day brings beautiful new possibilities. Let go of yesterday, it's gone. How wonderful we get another 24 hours today to try again.

I am grateful for a lovely day yesterday catching up with family that I haven't seen since before the pandemic began.

And for my grandchild growing safely in my daughter's belly.

For sunshine and a peaceful Sunday ahead of me.

Breathmiller · 25/07/2021 15:52

Going to out where I live...

I am grateful for a beautiful swim in the Glorious Tweed.

For my youngest having friends he can pop round to visit.

But especially for my oldest son. He is 17 and has a few challenges in life that makes some social situations difficult. But he is off with to the local town with a friend he made at college. I am so chuffed. Life just seems a little bit easier for him. Lovely to see.

And also because of these two above friends, dh and I have a couple of hours just to hang out and relax together.

BigGreen · 25/07/2021 23:08

That's really beautiful Breath thank you for sharing 🌱

I'm actually really grateful my house did not flood since we've had a massive deluge in London today. Thoughts to all those affected.

Grateful too for some gorgeous one on one time with my eldest this morning. I love how he chats away about his life as we cycle along together.

Also very grateful for second hand purchases bringing my camping dreams a bit closer to reality.

BigGreen · 26/07/2021 23:26

Grateful to MIL for never ending patience with the children, leaving me able to do some work.

Grateful for a nice lunch with DH and an opportunity for a chat.

DS3's speech is coming on leaps and bounds and it's a delight to see the complexity of his cheeky personality emerge,

Breathmiller · 27/07/2021 14:27

A day by the river with my very good friend. We don't get enough time just the two of us and it was so good.
Them we stopped off for lunch.

Grateful for the time on the car to listen to one of my favourite authors.

BigGreen · 27/07/2021 23:04

Making plans for cycling and camping fun with DS7.

Meeting people with different perspectives.

Breathmiller · 29/07/2021 13:59

Peace and quiet.

I love my youngest dearly, he is a fizz bomb of joy and happiness in everyone's lives. But, it is also nice to have space from his chatter. Knowing he is entertained at a big theatre workshop he is loving.

quinin · 29/07/2021 22:03

A wonderful and very dear old friend came to see me today. Was lovely to catch up and hear her news.

For my body's ability to heal, as my wounds begin to disappear.

For the love I have for my children. I am totally fascinated by them.

BigGreen · 29/07/2021 23:05

I had a wonderful hour with my two boys looking for bugs. We caught grasshoppers, saw a dragonfly up close and ate the first of the blackberries.

I feel very grateful in general after reading the thread in chat about terrifying things that have happened to you. My heart goes out to some very tough Mumsnetters.

Breathmiller · 31/07/2021 08:24

I am grateful for all the support I get on mumsnet from people. It really has been transformative.

Lots of lovely threads, like this one.

BigGreen · 31/07/2021 23:33

I'm so insanely grateful to be meeting with my family for the first time since 2019 since we've been finally able to fly. It doesn't even feel real! It's so good Grin

My Mum and Dad have been so thoughtful, I can see how hard they've worked to make everything stress free. It's so nice to be considered like that.

I am grateful to this thread too, it spurs me on. Love hearing what everyone is appreciating Thanks

Breathmiller · 01/08/2021 07:40

Oh biggreen that really made me smile. Enjoy your time with your family.

Breathmiller · 01/08/2021 18:46

Grateful for my reluctant friend joining me in a river swim today. And seeing her hooked on it. She's already asking when we go in again.

Welcome SoberAnne and PamDenick Thanks

Grateful for a super fun day at the beach. The kids were so excited and made everyone feel their enthusiasm.

Grateful for my funny sisters, so very many laughs over a gin or two.

Frenchpoodle · 02/08/2021 05:49

What a lovely and inspiring thread. Can I join?

This morning I am grateful for my little dog, snoring away at the end of the bed.

I am grateful for hot tea in the morning and a job that (although stressful and I’m not really feeling on top of today) I love and gives great satisfaction and interest.

quinin · 02/08/2021 20:52

I'm grateful for old friends who are the same no matter how long it's been since I've seen them.

For my health and good energy levels enabling me to participate in life.

For my new juicer which will help fill my body with the nutrients it needs from the earth.

Soberanne · 02/08/2021 21:11

I am so grateful for the time today walking my dogs and for the time spent with my family watching a movie.

I am gratefulthat today i stayed sober

Optimist1 · 02/08/2021 21:35

A long chat with DD who I haven't seen for 17 months - there will be such celebrations when travel between UK and Australia is a possibility.

The opportunity to help out a friend in need

The inspiring competitors in Tokyo - such huge effort and dedication has brought them this far - they really lift the spirits of rather slothful spectators such as I

Breathmiller · 02/08/2021 21:48

Grateful for all my clients who are happy for me to back working. Lovely messages from them. They make what I do a joy.

Grateful for dh feeding me a healthy dinner full of fresh vegetables when I didn't get 5 minutes from work to even think about food. I got up from computer to a lovely dinner and then after eating I could go straight back to it while he cleared up.

PamDenick · 02/08/2021 21:58

I too am grateful for all the inspiring athletes in Tokyo. I’m inspired by their stories... the equestrian rider who had a terrible accident 8 years ago yet today rode as an Olympian...

BigGreen · 02/08/2021 23:04

Grateful for my lovely Dad who is just such a nurturing person, he tends to his garden and his family so thoughtfully.

For a brilliant sea view, with different colours every day.

For really positive family members who are the life and soul of the party and bring fun wherever they go. They are rehabilitating us all to social contact after lockdowns.

Welcome FrenchPoodle Thanks

Breathmiller · 03/08/2021 21:13

Grateful for an honest and compassionate conversation with my step dad today. We have historically had a difficult relationship but he has begun turning to me for support and advice . I am grateful to be seeing this side of him that I hadn't given a chance before. If i thought about it negatively i could be thinking, why on earth has it taken my mum being ill and why have we wasted all these years. So many years of discord. But, I really don't feel like that. I am grateful that we have this chance now to be there, for each other.
