A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

MileySmiley I would urge to to contact the police. You described your stalker as "harmless" but if he is hacking into your accounts then he clearly is not harmless.

@speakout I have contacted the police in the past and they are not interested. The thing is I feel a bit guilty because my husband shafted him when they worked together. I didn't have anything to do with it but I did used to be his friend as was my hubby ,so I think he blames me which is completely unfounded because I had nothing to do with his downfall .. he contributed to his own misfortunes and I know he knows this. oh well another day of looking over my shoulder to see if I can spot him and talk some sense into him yet again!

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 07:46

@mileysmiley

Sorry you’re going through this. Can you change all passwords and ask your provider to up security?
They can also let you know if they have had any log ins from locations that aren’t yours

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 07:51

Autumn is my favourite season too.
When summer comes I really just seem to be counting down the days.

I wish I enjoyed it more.

I prefer all the celebrations of autumn and feel much more grounded.

Today I’ve woken up with very low energy levels.

nomorefrogs · 19/08/2019 09:21

@Mileysmiley how about a little binding (to limit his intrusion) or protection spell for your home?

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 09:48

Are there any spells that can help vanishing intrusive thoughts?

I was treated quite badly by a family member a little while ago and as much as I have distanced myself where possible there are some family occasions where we are in each other’s presence.
The build up to these events for me raises my anxiety and I can’t seem to get out of the habit of thinking negatively about them

Vanishing = banishing Wink

Hello All, I contributed a very little way back when the thread began, but lost you all. I've had a read your conversations occasionally when I've had time, and bought a few of the books recomended early in for those interested in the path. I'd like to inject a little magic into kitchen as I'm an avid cook and love making things with my children. I was wondering if any of you have any recomendations for resources to learn about herblore. What medicinal, traditional and spiritual uses different foods and ingredients might have. Thank you.

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 11:43

@Hoolahoophop - a friend bought me this book which I’ve been using more recently.

I’ve also really enjoyed these two.

They aren’t as spiritual as you may have been looking for but the medicinal and traditional use of herbs and other things that can be foraged for is something I love.

The almanac is just something I pick up each year as it’s a very quick easy reference for moon phases. What is in season and what I should be doing in my garden.
I need to be told as I’m not a natural gardener

RosaWaiting · 19/08/2019 12:07

Yashmis "I agree about finding ways to make peace with where you live. I wasn’t happy here for a while when I moved, had decided I ‘didn’t fit’ so I had to make a conscious effort to connect- makes for a happier existence. I do understand about feeling disconnected and at odds with the environment but it sounds like you have valuable human connection which counts for a lot doesn’t it. "

Thank you so much for saying this. It's exactly right and I am in that space where I need to accept certain things rather than go off looking for something that might not even exist.

Woodland I love the almanac!

I don't have an outside space really, a tiny one but facing so much traffic etc and flats opposite. I am going to focus more on nature books and pictures and so on.

I still don't know what I think about stealing from nature etc. I might go to the Heath after work and I could see what I can "gather" but would feel a bit like a thief Confused

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 12:56

I feel ok about taking cuttings from common land as it’s technically not owned by anyone and so long as I am not removing whole plants or leaving things too depleted then I am happy.
I like spreading wildflower seeds when I get the opportunity (although some people might not appreciate it)

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 12:58

Adele Nozedar who wrote the hedgerow handbook recommends this book for any herb lover

I was bought up with a mother and grandmother who would take us foraging for things.

Most of the time it would be blackberries growing wild for an apple pie.

purplefig · 19/08/2019 17:30

Hi again everyone! I've taken a few days break as my energy was low and I've been in a weird head space. I'm feeling much brighter now. I've enjoyed catching up on your days, they often sound so peaceful and grounding. I've had an incredibly busy year and it continues to be so. I'm looking forward to slowing down in the autumn and winter, I have a strong sense that I need to slow down before the baby arrives in Feb.

On the topic of essential oils - does anyone use them in a burner or diffuser who has pets? I had been using a diffuser, but I've read a few things about them being potentially toxic to animals, so I'm not sure what to do from here.

@Mileysmiley sorry you're going through this. But like the others have said, I'd urge you to contact the police. I know you already have, but if you suspect he's now hacking into your network then that's a fresh cause for concern.

speakout · 19/08/2019 17:58

purplefig

I do use essential oils, but not on a burner- I tend to have a tendency to forget about them until the smell of burning oil alerts me to the fact that the water has dried up. I find them bothersome to clean too.
I use them in the shower, I will add a few drops to body moisturiser, or in magical rites, anointing candles etc.

Woodlandwitch · 19/08/2019 18:04

I also use my essential oils in the bath or sometimes just on some Jewellery

VioletCharlotte · 19/08/2019 21:10

Purplefig I use a diffuser for my oils. Like Speakout I didn't get on well with a burner as I kept forgetting about it. My dog is fine with it, I think you have to be careful with cats though. I also use them with almond oil to massage into my skin and I like to make a body scrub by adding oil to coconut oil and sugar.

Just back from a lovely, relaxing yoga session. Looking forward to a shower and bed 💤

BlankTimes · 20/08/2019 02:44

@Purplefig

Some essential oils are contra-indicated for pregnancy, do check each one before use.

Hoolahoophop · 20/08/2019 06:58

Woodlandwitch thanks so much for the book suggestions. I'll get down the library.

I too have been brought up foraging mostly for jams and wines/cordial. I was aleays t

Hoolahoophop · 20/08/2019 06:59

..taught that it is fine to gather from the hedgerows as long as you leave enough for the animals and regrowth and spread some of your bounty. I love foraging.

YashmisCrone · 20/08/2019 09:29

Good morning,

I hope everyone is well today. It’s bright and breezy here with an incoming flavour of autumn on the wind.

I’ve been thinking about the witch trials embedded in our history. Sparked by realising we’re in the midst of the Pendle witch trail anniversary. One we know much more about because of it being well documented.
The horrors our sisters before us must have gone through. The powerful vindication of women and their power inherent within the trails still reverberates in our culture today. That and power and coercion from dominant religious institutions. Makes me sad/furious

On a lighter note I use essential oils in a burner and in homemade bath/body products too. I have done so with animals in the house. I guess like blanktimes says it’s about checking each one for contraindications (both pregnancy and pets) to be safe.

I hope everyone has a good day

speakout · 20/08/2019 10:34

Good morning, thank you for that YashmisCrone I will watch it today.

Like you I feel angry and sad abouth ethe witch trials. Two old churches in my town had clerics who were ferocious witch hunters in the 17th Century.
And that legacy of fear and toxic power persists. Those in power had a mandate to kill " Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live", but more often it was about money and power.

Just back from taking DD to University for a meeting, then to her flat to do the first "swoop" of her stuff to empty it. She has to be out by Sunday, luckily it's only 6 miles away, so another couple of trips including final cleaning will see it empty.
I now have a huge pile of washing, but it is a sunny and breezy day, so all good.

When we have simple life becomes so rewarding- noticing that my cat smiles when I tickle her under the chin, the taste of fresh coffee, the sight of wild berries, the smell of rain, the love of my family.
I am rich because of all this abundance each day has so many good things to bring to me.

I hope your day is full of abundance too.

Woodlandwitch · 20/08/2019 13:40

I agree on a simple life leading to great pleasure and a peacefulness too

On the subject of pets - I’ve always had either dogs, cats or fish ever since I can remember. It’s been about 3 years since our last one and I feel it’s left quite gap in our home ever since.

I would love to get a cat. We have a young child now so the thought of the hard work that goes in to training a young puppy does not fill me with excitement like it previously would have. DH would prefer a dog though.
Are we destined to get fish again as a poor attempt at a compromise?

Do most of us here have cats or anyone with dogs?
