@Woodlandwitch I have two cats which predate DD. One is indifferent to DD's existence the other one is besotted with her and follows her around from a safe distance. I would love to have a dog, I am not home enough to take care of one. I hate the thought of a dog being lonely at home as they are social animals.

Woodlandwitch · 20/08/2019 13:55

That worries me about a dog too. I’m always home (part time and work from home) but that doesn’t mean itl belike that forever. I can’t guarantee that il still be the same in 10 years time and it’s be terrible to have to rehome due to change of circumstances like that.

My DH is concerned about a cat as he had bad experience with his ex girlfriends cats who kept clawing him but that’s not my experience with any of my cats

Woodlandwitch · 20/08/2019 13:57

He also doesn’t want a litter tray

speakout · 20/08/2019 15:43

You don't always need a litter tray- I don't have one and I have two cats. No accidents unless they are ill.
But there is always someone at home- usually me- OH is a night owl so they get a quick trip outside at midnight before supper, I am a lark and I let them out again at 6am. they seem to last comfortably through the night without a tray- usually not desperate to go outside in the morning- especially if the weather is bad!!

Ready this thread is very calming. We just have fish here, but have high excitment at the moment and we had a hedgehog visit the garden. We have bough it some food and are now welcoming it to our home. We hope he becomes a wild friend.

My daughter is wonderful for making me stop and really look around she loves collecting beautiful things on a walk. Acorns, seeds, feathers, pretty leaves....today I was presented with a dandelion flower and tested to see if I like butter.

I hope you don't mind me barging in on your conversations. But a little reflective time is just what I need in my life. 😊

Woodlandwitch · 20/08/2019 20:24

@speakout thank you! We discussed having a cat in more detail and he’s definitely open to it now.
He’s asking me what I would call one.
I said Salem (having little time to think) and he has vetoed that.
I’m thinking he is worried what the neighbours will think Confused

queenrollo · 20/08/2019 21:37

Evening all.
We have cats here. We had two dogs, which we lost (to old age) just before I fell pregnant with my youngest son. He is 6 now and would like a dog but I feel they are too much responsibility for us right now. You are tied to home so much more with them.
We have a weekend with friends ahead of us and I am really looking forward to it.
I've had a little connection with my dad this evening, which always leaves us both feeling energised (he is a witch too).

VioletCharlotte · 20/08/2019 22:09

Woodlandwitch
I've got a dog. I love him dearly and he brings me so much happiness... but he is hard work! He's 9 now, we got him when my DC were 10 and 8. I don't think o could have coped with a dog with very young children.

I love walking him and getting out and about, but it's a big commitment, especially in the middle of winter when it's pouring with rain. Not only do you have to walk the dog in the rain, you then have to wash a wet, muddy dog when you get home.

It can get really expensive too, especially if they are ill. Even with insurance it adds up.

However I believe the pros outweigh the cons, but do think carefully. Too many dogs end up in rescues because people don't give it enough thought.

SalemSpellman · 20/08/2019 23:44

@Woodlandwitch Salem is an excellent name. Alternative in picture...

Hoolahoophop I have two hedgehogs in my garden too. Its so magical and exciting isn't it, I've seen the two of them once and a single one twice now, last night was the latest sighting, it was on the patio. I have a cat too, she is great company. I sat outside at 4am when I couldn't sleep the other week and was treated to a visit by one of the hedgehogs, I sat there with a stupid grin on my face!

Hope you get more hedgehog sightings and good luck if you do get a cat :)

YashmisCrone · 21/08/2019 10:13

Good morning,

It’s always good to catch up on everyone’s posts. Like Hoolahoophop (you are very welcome here btw!) I find it very calming.

Wonderful to hear of connections with pets, hedgehogs and family members who are witches!

speakout I loved your reflections on a simple life making for happiness and the flow of abundance yesterday. I also think that if the things that give us joy are simple then it provides us with an accessible in road for comfort when life feels tough. Much more realistic to be able to find simple pleasures and soothe ourselves through trying times.

Which is what I am doing at the moment. I seem to have taken my eye off the ball and ended up depleted. I’m being very protective of my energy and know that my task right now is to ride this wave until it passes, knowing that it will.

A beautifully encouraging tarot pick (ace of cups) from a friend bolstered me- she must have sensed I needed it. A true gift.

For now I’m taking it as easy as is possible and accepting that all life stages are valuable, there is treasure to be found in the shadows.

These quotes encouraged me and made me laugh respectively!

not much to say but...hello all Flowers

Yashmis, thank you for that - it is helpful Smile

speakout · 21/08/2019 12:07

Good morning everyone, I love that quote about staying positive. Heavy weather here, but I am managing to keep hold of the rudder, takes some effort at times though.
I hope your cup is filled soon.
So much energy flying off when thaere are five of us living here- some of it bright and positive, some confused, some dark. Some people tired and stressed, some are down, some keen for adventure, some are too busy and worn out.
It's rare to have everyone in a good place all at the same time. Time for my Obsidian necklace today I think!
Have a magical day everyone.

We keep having problems with water. The burst pipe has led to a series of things going wrong, all water related. I would appreciate any insights as to what the universe is trying to tell me.
I am very much fire and earth and water messages confuse me greatly.

Woodlandwitch · 21/08/2019 19:25

After big discussions at home we are going to look at some gorgeous kittens this weekend.

I’m so pleased.

Just need to think of some names.

Hope everyone is having a peaceful evening.
It’s a lovely light outside where I am right now

Woodlandwitch · 21/08/2019 19:27

@queenrollo I can’t answer you on the meanings behind it but wanted to say you are not alone.

We have had water disaster after water disaster.
One burst pipe 2 years ago which flooded the house and then another one 22 months later which flooded the house and ruined all the hard work from the last repairs.
It’s taken ages to get sorted but we are so grateful for the insurance company. We haven’t been left out of pocket despite it being a huge upheaval

speakout · 21/08/2019 19:31

queenrollo sorry to hear you have ongoing problems- maybe tarot or meditation would help you understand what is going on?

Woodlandwitch oh how exciting. I have a cat rescue shelter near me always full of kittens and cats desperate for a home- I have had a number of cats from the shelter over the years.

I've always found that kittens find their own names. For me pointless choosing a name until I have the animal home, the name is usuallly very obvious if you get to know the creature first- even if that means going nameless for a few days!

OP posts:
Woodlandwitch · 21/08/2019 19:36

Which shelter would you recommend?
I’ve gone through the blue cross and cat chat and they have no kittens right now but we are seeing an rspca kitten.
I wouldn’t mind an older cat really but it’s always a delight starting with a kitten

queenrollo · 21/08/2019 19:44

@Woodlandwitch it's so disruptive isn't it? Fortunately our leak was in a place which meant it was reasonably contained, but it WAS behind a very expensive fitted unit which had to come out. It was the same pipe both times, 18 months apart which is why this time I sat on the floor - a soggy mess - and cried! I knew what upheaval was coming!
This evening I have discovered the waste from the washing machine has come off the trap under the sink. I've lost a whole box of washing powder and dishwasher tablets.
Not the end of the world but this water is trying to tell me something!

Woodlandwitch · 21/08/2019 19:47

Sorry your going through that. Water leaks no matter how small are surprisingly difficult to deal with.

If you find out what the meaning is I’d definitely love to find out as I’m sure it’s something trying to tell me something.

I love my house as it is but I have struggled to settle. It has a lovely feeling but I am quite away from the location I know and love and wondered if it was telling me to do something about it

queenrollo · 21/08/2019 19:53

it's interesting you say that about struggling to settle...we have been here 10 years but in the last two I have felt a little disconnected from the house. We have a parcel of land elsewhere and toyed with doing a self build but for various reasons feel staying in the village is best for the forseeable future.

Woodlandwitch · 21/08/2019 19:55

My decisions are made with the head on this house too. It is best to stay here for so many practical reasons.
Previous houses are always with the heart and might have been a bit lacking in size or something else, the feel and location of each one was perfect

VioletCharlotte · 21/08/2019 19:57

Evening everyone. Just catching up on all the posts. A busy day at work today, but had a lovely walk with my dog this evening. Summer seems to have returned here.

Speakout I know what you about different energies in the house. There's only 3 of us, but our house is small and out energy is all very different. DS2 is away at a festival now until Monday, and I have to say the house feels much calmer! I'm sure by Monday I'll be missing him though.

Queenrollo sorry to hear about the water leaks, what a pain. When I had issues with leaks and various other things going on a couple of months ago, I discovered it was someone in spirit trying to get my attention. Try meditation down and asking what it is you need to know.

Woodlandwitch exciting news about your kitten/ cat. You do know it's a rule on this thread that you have to post pics? 😉

Yashmis sorry that you're lacking in energy at the moment, but pleased you've recognised this and you're looking after yourself. You give so much of yourself to so many people, it's really important to look after yourself too 💕

Sharing the lovely evening sunshine energy from my walk.

Love to you all ❤️

@Woodlandwitch I have a cat and a dog and adore them both for different reasons. Puppy training was a big commitment though, my cat is way less hassle than the dog! I work from home too, and plan to forever, which makes having the dog a lot easier. One thing I love about the dog is he forces me out into the fresh air and nature of every day, plus his enthusiasm for life is very catching. I'm so excited you're going to look at kittens this weekend. FWIW I love the name Salem Grin.

@YashmisCrone "it might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass." HA. I love that! While tough chapters are life are hard to bear, sometimes they are the greatest teachers. I know in my limited experience I've found great strength in some of the toughest times, and forged closer bonds with my loved ones too. Lately I've found a lot of sense in learning to simply accept life as is, rather than constantly resisting it, trying to control things etc. The latter takes a lot of energy and is (very) often futile.

@queenrollo sorry to hear about your burst pipe. I'm not wise enough to know what insight it's trying to tell you though. I think some meditation might be helpful, like @VioletCharlotte suggests.

After a few days of headaches, I feel like I've come out of the fog and feel much brighter. We're leaving for a week long break on Friday and while I am looking forward to the downtime and chance to recharge, it's a break with my huge extended family so I'm not sure it'll be the most peaceful! And tips for finding calm among the chaos? Luckily we're in a group of 4 in a cottage, so it won't be constantly chaotic. So far I've decided to bring my favourite grounding tea, headphones for podcast/meditations and a couple of decent books. Oh, and my slippers. I love home comforts!

speakout · 22/08/2019 13:51

Good afternoon wise friends, managed to sit down for 15 minutes or so for a much needed coffee. Days seem so hectic, always lists of things to do, cooking giving people lifts- and fitting in work.
There is a marked change of seasons here now, evenings darker, and my thoughts are turning to the shadow months, my head is spinning with thoughts of berries and fruit and fire.

I hope everyone finds some uplifting energy today.
