@Woodlandwitch I have a cat and a dog and adore them both for different reasons. Puppy training was a big commitment though, my cat is way less hassle than the dog! I work from home too, and plan to forever, which makes having the dog a lot easier. One thing I love about the dog is he forces me out into the fresh air and nature of every day, plus his enthusiasm for life is very catching. I'm so excited you're going to look at kittens this weekend. FWIW I love the name Salem

@YashmisCrone "it might pass like a kidney stone, but it will pass." HA. I love that! While tough chapters are life are hard to bear, sometimes they are the greatest teachers. I know in my limited experience I've found great strength in some of the toughest times, and forged closer bonds with my loved ones too. Lately I've found a lot of sense in learning to simply accept life as is, rather than constantly resisting it, trying to control things etc. The latter takes a lot of energy and is (very) often futile.
@queenrollo sorry to hear about your burst pipe. I'm not wise enough to know what insight it's trying to tell you though. I think some meditation might be helpful, like @VioletCharlotte suggests.
After a few days of headaches, I feel like I've come out of the fog and feel much brighter. We're leaving for a week long break on Friday and while I am looking forward to the downtime and chance to recharge, it's a break with my huge extended family so I'm not sure it'll be the most peaceful! And tips for finding calm among the chaos? Luckily we're in a group of 4 in a cottage, so it won't be constantly chaotic. So far I've decided to bring my favourite grounding tea, headphones for podcast/meditations and a couple of decent books. Oh, and my slippers. I love home comforts!
