Elphame I am a lurker but prompted to post by your news.

I am so sorry this happened to you. Did your family have an inkling?

I live in a studio flat so can't keep stuff but I'm even nervous to have the smallest things around that might alarm people. There is no explaining to some people. It's one thing if they think it's a bit silly but another thing if they think it's really evil - which some religious folk in my family might think.

Hi, welcome, glad you have joined us.

It can be hard, I think we all know the difficulties.

Which is why I love chatting to my like minded sisters on this thread.
We all understand here.

thank you speakout

I was even nervous about joining the thread in case someone in the family sees it.

I would love to have a "corner" somewhere in the flat for small things, but in a studio, with friends and family sleeping on the couch every so often - I do like to be welcoming and "open door" - it's too hard, so just have a little box with crystals in.

BlankTimes · 26/03/2019 13:33

Just catching up with the thread, browser had a hissy fit a couple of days ago and kicked me off every site I'm registered on (not many!) so I've had to re-register and set preferences, put the ad blocker back gah.

@Elphame whoever did that will learn the hard way that actions have consequences, whether you actually do anything or not.

I'm furious on your behalf, I'd be incensed if anyone went poking through my personal possessions and didn't even tell anyone. I'd be incandescent if they did what your relative did.

Camomile valerian and hop tea, lavender and Himalayan salt bath with smoky quartz or obsidian, let it all go.
BB Sister.

You are right, as angry as we may be it's easier to let things go.

We don't have to justify ourselves to anyone. If others are clsed minded then that is their problem.

Easier said I know.

Oh Elphame sorry you had your privacy invaded like that. It's one thing to share yourself with those you want but another when someone just forces the issue

GrumpyOldMare · 26/03/2019 16:42

Is there a cup of tea on the go and a spare squashy cushion or beanbag?

Been out in the garden all afternoon after shopping for plants this morning.2 dianthus,a lavender(got three lots in the garden now),pansies, night scented stock (seeds) and a hanging basket full of pansies. All planted in new compost.
Fixed my pond pump so have the sound of running water again.Cut the grass yesterday in anticipation of sorting out the garden today.

What glorious weather it's been here in my corner of Somerset. Such a lovely atmosphere out in the garden - the Green Man made himself felt often, blissful.

Got some epsom salts and planning a nice soak later - I need to get the earth out of my fingernails before work tomorrow - the customers don't want me serving food with gardener's hands for some reason, even though I work in a garden center!

Hi Rosa you're an adult, you are allowed to do what you want without censure within the laws of the land.

Other peoples' problems are their own to work out, it's not up to you to justify your life choices.

I can understand a sharp intake of breath if you had an upside down pentagram with a goat's head in the middle drawn in its sacrificial blood on the wall Halloween Wink but no-one could object to say a moongazing hare ornament on your windowsill, surely?

You could change your 'ornament' with the feast days, the Wheel of the Year or whatever you wanted to do to mark the seasons, a bunch of daffodils for spring etc. Go for a hidden in plain sight approach.
These are the two moongazing hares I have now on each side of the kitchen windowsill, you wouldn't need the rest of the things I have on display.
Apologies in advance if the images appear sideways, they did when I enlarged them on the pc, but not on the phone.
I've also attached one of the whole windowsill with the dark duo on it.

Yashmis your tree images are stunning, the last one was the colors of the spectrum from the all the greens in the grass at the bottom to the blues and indigo at the top of the sky, it's a stunner.

Hi Grumpy there's always your favourite brew in the Magic Teapot, help yourself to a brew and a beanbag. Halloween Grin

Ooooh, you have a pond, I have a mister/fogger that I put in a bucket behind a bush for extra atmosphere in the garden. If you work in a garden centre you'll be able to see all the latest things, how lovely.

GrumpyOldMare · 26/03/2019 17:51

And expensive! Even with discount! Got my plants in The Range and Home Bargins - cheaper!

queenrollo · 26/03/2019 18:34

in my past I ran a business selling flowers and plants. A trip to the wholesalers was a delight, but I always came back with more for my own garden than I planned!

Sok1ere · 26/03/2019 21:47

Haven't had time to post (plus it's been so long I forgot my password) but had to join in with everyone to offer support to you Elphame as soon as I read what happened .

My best wishes to you and everyone. Have loved your spring and family updates. Plus the pictures Yashmin are beautiful.

I hope to catch up with you all soon xx

VioletCharlotte · 26/03/2019 21:59

Elphame sorry this has happened. How rude of someone you'd invited to your home to go through your private things.

Loyaultemelie · 26/03/2019 23:13

Lovely pictures of your sill BlankTimes I love the dark duo too! My great elephant boycat is currently snoring on my good knee and I swear he weighs more than dd2 despite being on a diet.

Grumpy I have plant envy.

Time for a peppermint tea and a probably fruitless attempt at sleep.

Mistymount · 27/03/2019 10:36

Elphame - so sorry that someone you invited into your home has done this. I hope you are okay.

Just popped on to share what the view of my front lawn looks like right now. This lovely little one seems to be hanging around a great deal of late. Don't think I'll ever tire of watching such natural wonders.

Misty that just made my heart soar!

speakout · 27/03/2019 15:08

Loving the pictures of the hares and kangaroos.

Just sat down for a cuppa, been a busy day.
Just eyeing the sky, it is getting quite dull, I'd better bring the laundry indoors before I start to cook, it's nearly dry.

I have been thinking a lot about love as an energy today, hearing that in one of his last public appearances appearance a girl askled him a question and he relplied " In the end there is only love" which I thought very poignant.
It's such a powerful energy, can be tender, romantic, but also the energy that causes up to stand up to others when injustices are being done.
It's the energy that causes us to care, about others, about the planet and the other animals that live here but also to love ourselves.

And loving ourselves is sometimes the hardest- especially in this patriarchial world.
Patriarchry is misogynistic, it teaches us to be wary of other woman, and even to judge ourselves harshly.

Because if we start loving ourselves then we uncover great power- we become closer to the source- and that is what patriarchy is really afraid of. The applecart would be upset, apples would spill everywhere- and possibly everyone would get a fair share.

Enough of my ramblings.
As I write my familiar has nestled into the crook of my knee, which is curled around myself on the sofa.
As a scared little abandoned kitten he decided this was the safest and most comfortable place in the world. And spent weeks nestled there while he gained his confidence.
He's a big big for that spot now, but still loves to come back to touch base with his little kitten spot- it must feel good.
He is purring at top volume anyway!

Tea time over, must bring in the laundry and make a start on the curry.
I have some new rose love incense that I will burn as I cook.

Bright Blessings sisters.

Thank you all so much for the messages of support.

I'm hoping it's a 9 day wonder and they'll all forget about it but if they don't then that's their problem not mine.

I took the morning off the laundry and went to Glastonbury for some herbal retail therapy and I walk in the Avalon marshes. My day was made by hearing and then actually spotting a bittern.

There are some lovely pictures on this thread - thank you to all who post them

rivierliedje · 27/03/2019 17:13

It’s an absolutely gorgeous day here today, so the back door has been open all day and I’ve been pottering in and out, hanging out the washing, cutting some rhubarb and making a crumble. I got very lucky, when I walked down to the local shop they had some very ripe plums and apples marked down, so those have gone in too.
Now my washing is blowing on the line and the fruit is stewing and I have a locely cup of tea

speakout · 28/03/2019 07:44

Gppd morning, a dull start to the day, but there is a deafening chorus of birds outside, I have just fed them and they are flabbing about excitedly.

A quieter day here thankfully, although I stuill have work to do..

Do any of you use dragon's blood? I have had a bag for a while, some tentative attempts to check out solubility, oil, water and vodka all no good, I suspect it would dissolve in ethanol, but I don't have anything stronger than vodka.
Maybe grind it and use it in incense? Does it burn well?

I don;t want to be reinventing the wheel, any indicators would be appreciated.

Have a blessed day everyone.

Loyaultemelie · 28/03/2019 08:48

river ooh your crumble sounds gorgeous!!
Speakout I don't imagine you have any but Potin is useful for dragons blood (can you tell I live in Northern Ireland?) I'm not sure if it would burn as incense or just go all claggy, sorry not very helpful.

It is officially (a late) spring here this morning our first two lambs were born around 6am. Dh is in control this year with me being out of action so was very relieved no help was needed. I love seeing new life

speakout · 28/03/2019 08:55

Loyaultemelie

Lovely hearing of your new lambs.
I'm not sure what strenth most Potin is? We don't have it here.

Hello sisters!

Sorry to hear of your invasion of privacy @Elphame, I hope that time is a healer for you in this instance. Also people shouldn't be so damn nosey!

We have had a week of illness at this household, which seems to have finally left us this morning. I'm flinging the windows and back door open to allow the sun in, then I will hang the washing on the line.

I have this song by Karl Jenkins stuck in my head; it's one we sing at choir. I find it uplifting and hope you will enjoy it too.

Elphame · 28/03/2019 09:15

Oh I love dragonsblood! I get through far too much of it. It's my go to resin if I want to empower.

There are several types of resin named dragonsblood though so that may be affecting your results speakout. I've made a superfatted soap using a hot infusion of dragonsblood and coconut oil. It dissolved completely. I use Dracaena draco.

Today is going to be fun - a picnic with a friend in a remote stone circle with some magical work in mind. Actually I need to get cracking - I have stuff to get ready.

Have a magical day everyone and I'll check back later

Loyaultemelie · 28/03/2019 09:25

Speakout the "proper" homebrew potin is anything between 70-90% it's lethal, years ago people were going blind from it. (Why I tend to use any we were given for magical purposes rather than anyone actually drinking it apart from the odd toast at a wake!) Apparently now there's some legal ones sold at around 40% though

Elphame sounds wonderful enjoy your picnic
