A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration

All welcome.

@VioletCharlotte A must for me is The Atlantis Bookshop near the British Museum, also Treadwells. Both soaked in decades old occultism - Atlantis has had just about anybody who was anybody in occultism, druidry, witchcraft, etc as customers since at least the 1930s. Treadwells know their stuff too 😉

Good morning.

I wich I had a decent pagan shop near me, they are lovely places to browse.
However necessity is the mother of invention- I pick up my supplies from the most unlikely places. I have bought some great books from charity shops, found crystals there, bowls, candle holders, discount stores are great for candles, craft materials. Asian shops have a great range of spices.

A huge change in the weather today it is misty, has been raining, vack to where things should be for the time of year- and it's rather pleasant.
We have had a little tsate of spring and it has been productive, but things feel "right" now.

Back to the winter woolies!

Good morning,

Yes it feels right to be back to February type weather doesn’t it. Lovely as it’s been to have some sunshine.

Hope you enjoy the witchy shops today Violet I wonder what treasure you’ll find Smile

Last night I was excited to come home to find the tomato seeds I planted from an old tomato sprouting! Little things again!

I haven’t bought any new crystals since Elphame pointed out the ethical issues with them but I do enjoy the ones I’ve got. I’m liking this one at the moment- I’m not sure what it is? I thought maybe laboradite but maybe it’s a bit too blue?

Wishing everyone a magical day 💫

Sod's law that. I washed the wool jumpers yesterday ready for putting into storage. But glad because I was lamenting the lack of opportunity to wear them this year! Grin

Hope your little one is ok LongingByTheSea Glad that you were there to tend to the woman, despite the trauma you all suffered as a result. Hope you have a restorative day today.

I'm all over the place this morning! Overslept, so instead the leisurely morning and journey I was planning, I've really got to rush now. I'm on the train and have a coffee, so all is good!

Thanks toomanypaws for the Treadwells recommendation, I'll let you know how I get on.

Longing sorry you had such a difficult day yesterday, hope you're all ok and your little one is feeling better.

Speakout I love the Indian shops for spices, so much more selection than the supermarkets and much better value too.

Yashmis I'm another one who has been put off buying crystals, it just doesn't feel right, does it? That one is really beautiful, I don't know what it is, but it's really lovely.

TooManyPaws · 28/02/2019 11:42

VioletCharlotte Treadwells also has a magical supplies section. 😉

Speakout have you been to the Wyrd Shop in Edinburgh's Canongate? Interesting even just to talk to the owners. They also have an online shop. If you're ever through in Glasgow, 23Enigma in the High Street just down from the Cathedral and Glasgow Royal Infirmary is a must - crowded full of books and good stuff and again Sammy the owner really knows her stuff and is enjoyable to talk to.

I've also found a lot of stuff in various 'normal' shops and auctions. I have several large and small cauldrons that were at a local auction house as planters; I just need to wire brush and paint them this summer. Same with large brass altar candlesticks. I also collect a lot of seasonal decorations from everywhere.

TooManyPaws

Hi, yes I was in the Wyrd shop just a few weeks ago.
Can't say I was impressed I'm afraid.
Quite touristy, mainstream stuff and overpriced.

Yashmis if it's labradorite, the tones go deep blue to light blue, yellow and very occasionally a red to purple. Labradorite has a fabulous sheen to its surface when it's been polished.

This site's great to learn more about your stones.See if yours has the same sheen (it has a name that escapes me at the moment, it's not schiller, aha remembered, iridescence ) as these and that it changes colour as you move it around, some bits flare and others are dull. I've attached some bits I have.

I've bought a lot over the years, most have been from dealers I've got to know so I've been able to get at least some provenance. One dealer goes to his home country once or twice a year and meets the miners direct, there's no large scale operation there. He showed me his photographs of his latest trip, the miners are are a few individuals who trek up the mountains looking for a sign there may be some crystals, then they start to dig by hand, the mines are literally only wide enough for one man to crawl into and the crystals are removed by hand, no explosives, no workforce.
The ones I've bought from him are museum quality pieces.
see smoky quartz in second picture.

I'm new here and new to the path too. I have started talking to my guides daily and meditation. And using my reiki more.
