It has been one of those days where I have ended up wondering if there is some sort of magic I can use to get the work computers to work properly and keep working properly. The network kept crashing today and taking out my work, I mean who saves their work every 5 mins when developing a database?! Add in some access quirks and the general public being the general public... Some computer healing magic? Is it even possible? If not I will stick to the epsom salt bath and candle I have planned.

Also meant to ask is there any symbolism in birds of prey. I have been seeing a magnificent one on the way into work the last few days. Never quite getting enough of a view to fully see what species it is though. There have also been a number of barn owls in the evenings.

Elphame · 15/02/2019 18:31

Oh dear - actually yes. I believe Dorothy Morrison published one a while ago. I'll have a look and see if I can find it for you.

There is quite a lot of symbolism attached to birds of prey but if you're not sure which one it is you are seeing, think of their characteristics, far sighted, flying free, hunters etc and see if you can find a resonance with what is going on in your own life.

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 19:27

Hey lovely people

Talk me through if you will rationalising "witchy senses"

We've been having a lot of temp staff in because they are struggling to juggle long term sick, usual absence, and annual leave.

Most are lovely.

There's this guy. He's worked with us like 3 times and I've spoken to him in that time (due to everyone been in/out) about a total of 10 mins.

He's said and done nothing wrong, nothing at all, but something about him makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, spidey senses, like I feel physically uncomfortable in his presence

There's no reason

Confused

Thoughts ?

It’s spring! Crocuses out all over the park.

OK - never tried this but this is Dorothy Morrisons spell to keep your software running properly

4 aces from your tarot pack
4 quartz crystals

Lay them on top of the CPU as in the photo with the following charm:
Give programs energy to run with ease
So they run smooth and do not freeze
Bring perfect function from my keys
As I will so mote it be.

Leave cards and crystals in place for a week

(Dorothy Morrison - Everyday Magic)

To be honest it's dated now, and that sort of doggerel makes me cringe but maybe you can do something with it!

Today's sunshine has been an absolute joy. So pleased to hear everyone's feeling a little lighter today Smile
I'm just breezing in with something completely different
"The biggest concentration of protective marks ever found in British caves has been discovered at Creswell Crags in the East Midlands. The caves are home to the only Ice Age Rock art in Britain.

The marks, known as apotropaic marks or witches’ marks, are scribed in the walls and ceilings of the caves to ward off evil spirits. Creswell Crags is a limestone gorge on the Nottinghamshire/ Derbyshire border with history dating back 60,000 years. Enthusiasts, Hayley Clark and Ed Waters from the Subterranea Britannica group, made the discovery during a cave tour."
more and do watch the video at
historicengland.org.uk/whats-new/news/witches-marks-discovery-largest-in-britain/

"The letters and symbols were Christian but should not be looked at in that context, she said. From the 16th century to the early 19th century, when people made witches marks, there may have been a lack of association with religion, such as today when people might cross fingers or say “oh god”. She said: “It just becomes a protective symbol. It was a mark you always made to protect yourself.”"

BartonHollow I would trust your gutt and watch your back. If you are getting a strong response there will probably be a reason even if you can't put your finger on what it was. Ime it generally ends badly if you ignore the feeling

Elphame thank you. Definitely food for thought.

HillsBesideTheSea · 15/02/2019 20:02

Ooooo BlankTimes i drive past them quite regularly. I might need to investigate further! Thank you for the link!

speakout · 15/02/2019 20:37

BartonHollow

Totally trust your instincts with this man. Our instinct is a very powerful tool.

BlankTimes thanks for those interesting links.
I have been reading a lot about Neanderthals in the past few weeks. Britain has been inhabited by waves of hominids for the past million years.
We walk on sacred ground!

I am having a quiet hour just before bed, finished my work today, just titied up and Oh has brought some tea for me., but he is back in he kitchen fiddling with a laptop.
The room is quiet and the lights are low, I have the french doors open as I am quite warm after hoovering.
It;s a little breezy outside, and I can feel the fresh air wafting into the room, the air feels fresh, but not cold, it;s quite mild.
I can hear the windblowing through the trees outside- in fact the only noise I can hear. It feels very uplifting and magical

The air has smelled so good to me today, I can sense that note of botanicals awakening, not at all like an autumn fragrance - which is deep and earthy and solid- and lovely in it's way at it's own time.
I can smell new growth, so so fresh and light. I am glad I was able to hang my laundry out to capture it today, my clean clothes are energised by the vibrancy.

I am a secret laundry witch!!

I feel when my family wear these clothes they take on some of that same energy and will help put a spring in their step.

OP posts:
BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 20:45

I know it's true that I should trust my gut but I feel guilty as he hasn't done anything it's just that all the air seems to vanish for the time that I have to interact

speakout · 15/02/2019 20:49

BartonHollow

No need to feel guilty- you haven't done anything either.

You can still be polite and professional, but keep up your guard.
Your instincts are there for a reason.

I HUGELY trust my instincts, and the older I get the stronger and more accurate they are becoming.

OP posts:
queenrollo · 15/02/2019 20:54

BartonHollow I agree with the others. Heed your instinct. The few times I have dismissed it and let a person 'in' I have had my initial reaction proven right later on.

YashmisCrone · 15/02/2019 21:10

Barton Can you trust your instinct that you don’t trust him without having to have ‘evidence’ that he’s ‘a bad person’ if that makes sense?

Like two separate issues. You feel this way around him. He may or may not be a problem, but for you it’s best to protect yourself from his energy.

Trusting your intuition doesn’t necessarily make him bad or dodgy in any way but you feel the way you do and I think it just feels more congruent to accept without needing to back it up that IME. I don’t know if that makes any sense!

Separately Grin that video! Thank you for the laugh earlier.

speakout I’ve been working from home today, deadline day on a report that’s been a strain for me.

I sat with the patio doors open, enjoying a tangible sense of spring, hung out my washing and took great pleasure in it soaking up the newness of spring. Just lovely. And the report has been submitted!! Woo!! Grin 🥳

Kizzy I love the crocus pictures. Thank you. I have a few that have sprung in the middle of the lawn, seemingly from nowhere. Magic!

Elphame pleased to hear about the change of energy/feeling now the fence is complete. Hope all went well with your work Wink

Hills sorry to hear about your pesky computer- how frustrating. I loved hearing about your bird of prey though. Feels powerful wise, discerning and protective and to me when I think about you seeing it.

Blanktimes that all looks fascinating. Thank you 🙏

speakout · 15/02/2019 21:12

Interestingly I was listening to a radio discusion today talking about domestic abuse. A repesentative from Woman's Aid was talking about just this thing- about "gut feeling" and instinctive inner voices. She said they were of prime importance and repeatedly women's instncts turn out to be accurate. She was urging women to take notice of these feelings.

OP posts:
YashmisCrone · 15/02/2019 21:25

That is interesting speakout

I agree women usually have these instincts/intuitions early on and sadly push them aside- usually in response to the ‘love bombing’ the future abuser does to hook her in.

Most women I’ve spoken to about this have said some version of ‘I knew it (felt it) really’ when looking back.

I’m glad to hear WA urging women to trust their intuition (power)

I do think it’s about the ‘masculine’ notion that we shouldn’t think or feel things without ‘hard evidence’ to back them up. In reality, we are wise, powerful and knowing if we trust it- it’s just that we get trained not to so we’re not such a threat IME

Elphame · 15/02/2019 21:38

I'm joining the chorus Barton. Trust that instinct of yours.

I've had some fun this afternoon. After putting in the physical defences I've set up the energetic ones. All these snow quartz crystals are linked to the big one in the middle and I've laid them along my boundaries. They are programmed to block the passage of negative energy. The red candle is my "power candle" which is a booster and the whole grid will be powered by the large crystal which will be recharged by the sun whilst sitting quietly on a sunny windowsill. I prefer to charge with solar energy as it's an active fiery energy. The moon has no light of its own - it's all reflected and is much more passive to my way of thinking.

Due to how the land lies this does effectively mean that the pesky neighbour's land is going to collect a lot of negative crap which now has nowhere to go. I wouldn't want to live there. (Of course if he doesn't generate any then he won't have to live in any but I don't see that happening!)

Any Witches Here? Part 6
YashmisCrone · 15/02/2019 21:53

Oh I love what you’ve done there Elphame.

I wouldn’t want to be him living in that swamp of his own negative energy either!

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 21:59

Very interesting Elphame

Sok1ere · 15/02/2019 22:10

@speakout So beautiful how you describe the sensations of the evening air. I know exactly what you mean by the heavier sense of autumn as opposed to the freshness of spring air, sounds, smells. Your writing evoked a sense of peace within me, albeit a slight longing to experience something similar. Alas, police sirens and traffic fumes for me right now.

@Blanktimes I look forward to reading through those links. Would be wonderful to reach out and touch those carvings.

@Barton Listen to your gut. It's always right, unlike our fanciful minds and hearts.

VioletCharlotte · 15/02/2019 23:14

Evening all. It's so good to be back round the fire, all relaxed and cosy. I've been at a 50th birthday party this evening. I found it hard work to be honest. I'm finding that's I'm enjoying this sort of social event less and less. It's not that I'm anti-social. I love being with my friends. I just can't cope with big groups of people anymore and having to make small talk with people I have nothing on common with is so boring!

Barton Hollow I agree with what the others have said, definitely trust your instincts. It's so important. I've had occasions in the past where I've had a bad feeling about someone and ignored it. It's always turned out that my gut instinct was right and I should have listened to it. Intuition is so powerful.

BartonHollow · 15/02/2019 23:27

Another one who hates groups

Was wondering looking at Elphame's work, has anyone ever used PlayDoh or Plasticine to do work?

It just seems so useful for that kind of thing 🤔

BlankTimes · 16/02/2019 00:04

Nice one Elphame I like the look of that very much and the intention, that should sort him out!

Lovely scene Speakout I could feel the breeze reading that Smile

Those types of carvings are very common in old buildings, Sok1ere inside and out, focus on them and I'm sure you'll see some where you've not taken any notice previously. Many really are hidden in plain sight.

Violet I ran out of time yesterday to suggest you used Hills idea of glitter hairspray to deflect.

Barton your innate self-preservation instincts are telling you to avoid that creep, learn to listen, please.
PlayDoh or Plasticine, sorry but no thanks, just natural substances for me.

Yashmis I think you may have another new word to play with, it's one that so far I always intend to use and than forget every time I need it.

BartonHollow · 16/02/2019 01:13

Just because it's designed for modelling and it can be hard to get precise things. I now natural is better

speakout · 16/02/2019 07:00

A bright good morning to everyone.
I have woken to birdsong outside and it's still dark- that's a sign spring is on its way!

Elphame I love that working you have done, like a diorama, or almost a genius loci spell - it has a great sense of location. And I love that rope/braiding, it contains a lot of strength.

Sok1ere Thank you. Some moments are just so meaningful, my words can't do them justice.

VioletCharlotte that sounds a challenging evening, I dislike large group things also, and it was being held to celebreate my birthday I would have arrested the plans completely.
Saying no to things like this comes easier to me these days!

Speakout
When I was younger I used to love a party, but not anymore. I guess I used to like a drink, nowadays I can't drink at all as it makes me feel awful. I've done some yoga this morning to try and restore my sense of calm.

Elphame
I love your work. Do keep us posted on how things pan out!

I've got a real urge to do something creative this weekend. Not sure what yet though!
