Good morning Zapho.... For my ancestors, I light candles in front of their photographs and make their special/cultural food (Nordic) Reminisce with those who remember them, talk about them with those who don't.

They are usually there in my mind most days, however. Particularly the ones I never met, but know from the stories I was told. I am lucky to have very old photographs which I often use to calm me in times of stress. Just something about those very wise old eyes that saw and endured so much. They give me strength.

ARoomSomewhere · 15/09/2018 10:20

Thank you all for kind words and good suggestions.
I think I will get some rosemary and rose geranium (my favourite flower) oils. Some sage sticks and a silk square for my tarot cards (i only used them the morning of the interview then i kept the few i picked separately in a different bag. can i reunite the pack and 'cleanse' them from the beginning???)

Bellecose2 · 15/09/2018 10:37

I think I've had a lightbulb moment. It was your question on ancestors Zaphod. It has answered my internal struggle of Gods/Deities and feeling hypocritical. It's my own ancestors that will help me and whom I can call upon.

Thank you Zaphod for that little spark which exploded in my mind

speakout · 15/09/2018 11:00

Bellecose2

It's interesting.

I work with deities yet I consider myself atheist.

What a beautiful moment Bellecose So lovely and I can feel a lightness and clarity in your revelation Smile And thank you for your response to my question- it bought a tear to my eye, so there's something powerful in there for me too 🙏

ARoom that all sounds perfect Smile
I personally don't cleanse or do any particular ritual with my tarot- I like the idea of energy building as I use them- but then I'm the sort of person who thinks books should be 'well read'( for me this equates to bend back spines, corners turned over etc) I know people who feel the opposite and that every effort should be made to keep books in pristine condition, so I guess it's all about what feels right to you.
If you want to do and initial cleansing and dedication of your cards I would see no problem with returning the used cards to the deck and doing so. Unless you have a strong feeling otherwise, then I'd go with your gut

speakout your idea of deities as archetypes really resonates with me

VioletCharlotte · 15/09/2018 11:37

Hello, just catching up on all the posts. Really interested in people's experiences of Glastonbury. I love it there, and find totally re-energises me. Interesting how it affects people in different ways. I also love Edinburgh. However there's a small town near where I live that I hate, even as a child I used to cover my eyes driving though it and bed my parents to take a different route!
I'm going to Cornwall in a couple of weeks, I love the energy down there Smile

Bellecose2 · 15/09/2018 11:47

Yes, Zaphod. I feel I now have some clarity. I've been delaying taking further steps because I couldn't get past, what were for me , great stumbling blocks. I feel incredibly light right now.

@"speakout.... Just a few weeks ago I wouldn't have understood that, but I do now. Can't quite get past my own thinking blocks to achieve that for myself, but I think I may have found my way in.

Bellecose2 · 15/09/2018 12:25

@VioletCharlotte Yes, Cornwall and it's history is another magical place. Energies strongly affect me too... right now I live in a zone which I find difficult. Pick up on a lot of negativity, always have done. I choose to hang out in a nearby area (walking distance) which has an altogether different feel to it. I shop there, drink coffee. Fortunately, as a city, I can escape to a lot of different environments but I don't have the benefit of nature on my doorstep which is hard at times.

speakout · 15/09/2018 12:37

Bellecose2 lovley that your shift in thinking is making you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

I would love to visit Cornwall, part of the "Celtic fringe" so possibly a lot of similarities to Ireland and Scotland.

At last in my life I live in a place that feels right, right down to my roots.
My house sits on ancient monastic land, but evidence to show habitation here since Neolithic times.

Our small estate is surrounded on all four sides by ancient protected woodland, adjacent to a fast running bright river which comes from Roslin Chapel just a few miles upstream.

I have unspoit coastline with dolphins and seals a 15 minute drive, and despite being semi rural I can be in the heart of the city or at an international airport within 20 minutes.

Outside at night the only sounds I have are owls, badgers and deer rustling through the undergrowth.

speakout that sounds like absolute bliss!

speakout · 15/09/2018 13:03

ThatsNotEvenAWord

Do you know it is absolute synchronicity that this place has been given to me.
I knew of the place and from 20 years ago had mentioned to my OH what a lovely place it would be to live many times.

When the time came to move nearly 4 years ago I saw this property.

Houses in this small estate are snapped up within days, at way over the asking price, it is considered a desirable location for all the reasons I describe.

My ( now ) house had been on the market for 3 years, not s sniff of interest, and seller had dropped the price by 25%.
I phoned the estate agent- it hadn't had a viewing for months.

I went to view, the place was in immaculate condition, all top notch appliances, garden well tended, nearly new kitchen. I fell in love with the vibe.
I kept waiting for the catch- arranged a survey- all up to scratch, OH hadn't set foot in the property, but within days we put in an offer and was accepted.

Six weeks later we moved in, on October 31st - our given entry date.

That was nearly 4 years ago - I have still found no "catch", no defects. It is a mystery why this property was on the market so long.

OH bought the property "blind", he said he had seen it through my eyes and it is a "gift from the goddess".

Several similar properties have come up for sale in the time we have been here- all sold within a week, and all for 25% more than the asking price ( we have a closed bidding type sale system in Scotland if more than one buyer interested).

I still can't believe how this amazing home landed in my lap.

That is incredible.... a kind of occurrence that happens so rarely I suspect. Must be incredibly calming to live in such beauty, pure bliss for animals too.

TooManyPaws · 15/09/2018 13:59

speakout I think my house was 'meant' too. It is in the area I was looking, on an unnumbered back road between two villages, surrounded by fields, with a river running around two sides of the garden. I am sheltered by a high hawthorn and holly hedge from the tractors on the road and by oak and holly trees around the river. There is a large silver birch in the centre of the grassed area, together with a smaller ash. The original three-roomed cottage was built with earthen floors and then extended and updated in the early 1970s. I've added a conservatory to enjoy the garden, as well as a porch for muddy dogs and boots, and a back porch/laundry/utility.

It was a fixed price (first offer buys it, Scottish system) and a lady in her 80s selling to move to a town near her family. The river sold it to me! I hadn't yet sold my parents' house but the lawyer assured me that it would sell in the new year, and it did - I had one month of a low cost bridging loan because the sale was agreed. I moved in here on Imbolc.

Since then, most of my money was used up when I was made redundant and worked in low paying contracts until last year. I have a lot of work still to be done but I dug in and refused to let my house go. Even with a mortgage, it will be tight for a very long time. I need to get those candles going for a few grand from the lottery! 😂

That's such a lovely story, I am glad your house found you.

Open your heart to abundance- it will find you.

Afternoon all

Loving the stories of houses and the photographs of ancient stones.

We will need a third thread soon. 😊

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 15/09/2018 14:14

How are you doing Gee? I’ve been thinking of you lots

speakout · 15/09/2018 14:17

Yes- a third thread- how lovely!!

Amazing that there have been so much wonderful contributions, I was reading through the first thread yesterday, it's like a beautiful tapestry of thoughts and words spun with gold thread and nuggets of precious information.

@ThatsNot thank you for asking and also for thinking of me. It has been a difficult month on so many fronts. I’m trying to be positive (my usual outlook) but don’t really feel as if I have the energy. I can’t even be bothered to cook! Any ideas oh wise ones for simple helpful rituals when you feel this meh?

@speakout another lovely thread. Thank you for starting this one. 😊

speakout · 15/09/2018 14:54

GeeIneverthoughtofthat

Be kind to yourself.

If I am feeling low I tend not to cast spells as such instead focus on self nurture.
Use water, long baths, eat nourishing but simple foods, no need to cook, I like to eat blueberries, prawns, crusty bread, salad, tuna mangoes etc when I have no time to cook.

Use what energy you do have to pay homage to your inner goddess.
Light candles for yourself, incense, meditate, play inspiring uplifting music, a little soft yoga.

I play this for myself and she when we need a boost.

Also GeeIneverthoughtoftha

You can work with solar energy, try to find a spot in the house ( getting a bit chilly outside now) and sit facing the sun - works well with a low sun, so an hour or two before setting.
Sit comfortably facing the sun and turn to face it, close your eyes and absorb the fire.
I like to have a couple of candles to either side too to feel surrounded with energy giving fire energy, use citrus scents, essential oils nearby, or even some citrus peel sitting in boiling water will give a vapour.

Loving the warmth & developmental vibe going on here. My house was meant for me too. Had to go through some long challenging times first, before getting here. I recall years back thinking I would end up living in the area, but I just couldn't see how that could ever happen!

Thank you all for asking the Q's that I've hoping to find answers to. I'm so weak in cold weather I couldn't spare the energy to type & keep missing the chances to join in Grin

Third thread coming up? Amazing Smile

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 15/09/2018 15:14

Great ideas thank you @speakout.

Lots on there that I do and like - like baths, music and yoga. I just need a bit of a boost to get going - will try the solar energy and I have some limes that I can add to boiling water for a bit of zing!

CandleIit · 15/09/2018 16:45

Thank you all for sharing your experiences and for providing this beautiful peaceful and uplifting space!

I've felt inspired by what I've learned here and tried some of the practical suggestions - all have been wonderful!

I've started to notice magic absolutely everywhere! Who knew?! I very much hope speakout will create a third thread. I've been uplifted by the first two.

Blessings to all x

Just called in to say that a lovely lady let me in front of her at the supermarket and a kind man then took my empty trolley for me. Everyday kindness but it meant a lot.
