What a lovely picture!

No witching at all going on here today - housework all the way. I'm returning to Wales for a couple of weeks so a giant pile of washing and ironing I've successfully ignored for weeks is being tackled

If only I could master the sort of magic Mickey Mouse did in the Sorcerers Apprentice Grin

Hope all is going well zaphod

Insomma1 · 05/09/2018 15:29

Hope all is well Zaphod....

@secretwitch... yes agree with you about trees and the restorative properties of a glass of wine Smile

I just love trees 🌲.

BlankTimes · 05/09/2018 16:13

Trees are amazing.
I like a lot of Sue and Simon Lilly's work with trees, my copy of their 'Tree, Essence Spirit,Teacher is very well-used. I've also been to a few of their workshops which were good.

Thank you all for your positive vibes and good wishes. I can feel them buoying me up and helping me through. I appreciate your support so much.

I'm still in the thick of it with more to come probably over the following days/week but I'm breathing, one step at a time and I'll get there. I think the High Priestess at the weekend was reminding me of my strength and telling me to tap into my wisdom in preparation for now. All is possible...and breathe!

Sorry to be all about me- I'm enjoying your updates (welcome to those joining us!) and look forward to joining in properly again once I can clear this.

Thank you all 💜

I've been asked for help from a friend of my sister's daughter's boyfriend, and I'd like to bounce my ideas off you lot.

The backstory according to my sister who was there is that he was invited on a trip to New Orleans with them a couple of weeks ago. He's a 19yo boy with little respect for anyone, to be honest. They went to Marie Laveau's House of Voodoo, where there was an altar to the voodoo queen which they were expressly forbidden to touch. So of course he jokingly touched it.

He's since been sick several times, is plagued with headaches and has been having an unusual number of physical accidents. Is it connected? Who knows, but he believes it is and asked me for help. I'm thinking to build him a mojo bag to carry with him. I'd like to have 9 pieces in it.

So far I'm thinking:
a copper penny
an arrowhead
cascarilla powder
an herb mix (most likely mullein, feverfew, stinging nettles etc.)
a bay leaf
iron scrapings

Any other ideas?

SecretWitch · 05/09/2018 16:37

@DoubleNegativePanda, maybe a nice piece of amethyst to reduce negativity, while promoting positivity?
I do believe in the healing and cleansing ability of stones, rocks and shells.
Maybe you could find a particular stone that speaks to you, cleanse it and charge it for his protection?

Elphame · 05/09/2018 16:48

Panda I think I'd let him suffer for a bit!

I take it you're going down a protection route rather than trying an uncrossing? If some "headology" is all that is required I'd be tempted to prescribe him a cleansing bath or shower with some of the uncrossing herbs - preferably some of the unpleasant smelling ones like rue!

Protection wise - I'd add a hag stone and some High John the Conqueror

SecretWitch · 05/09/2018 17:17

Elphame I’ve been thinking about this...I wondered If the young lad could make reparations of sort? Or maybe someone could make an offering on his behalf, while asking for Madame Laveaus’s pardon?

I know nothing of voodoo, but know that any religion’s honoured priestess should be given respect.

DoubleNegativePanda · 05/09/2018 17:39

Elphame we think alike. I've been sitting on this for about a week to let him stew. Regardless of actual consequence, his actions were very disrespectful.

I'll check if High John root is accessible to me here. I also love the idea of a cleansing bath with some very witchy and effective smelling herbs!

BlankTimes · 05/09/2018 17:43

Panda I think I'd let him suffer for a bit!

Me too, not sorry.

I'd also dream up some sort of very apologetic "ritual" he had to do which would make him look like a complete pillock, then I'd help him by giving him a protection bag. Rock Salt's always a handy staple in one.

It's only his own conscience and fear of the unknown which has caused all of this, once the seed of "something nasty and invisible is causing this" has been planted, people attribute all sorts of genuinely random things to "supernatural" causes.
He's probably looked up some info on voodoo and scared himself rigid.

Just popping in to say hi, and a welcome to the newcomers.

Today I've cleaned my alter and swapped to autumn. Two weeks early as I'd normally do it at equinox, but I'd spilt wax and anyway there's been a change in the weather here so I'll pretend it's already autumn Grin

I've never done tarot - been looking into it off the back of this thread for a few weeks and have spotted a deck that is really calling to me. It's more than I'd wanted to spend but not massively so. What do you think, am I more likely to get on with it if it's one I'm particularly drawn to?

Hope you've had luck getting hold of your dissertation, ARoom.
Elph, where in Wales are you off to? I'm in the south

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 05/09/2018 21:17

Elphame · 05/09/2018 21:48

Which tarot deck is it Beyond? I chose my first one because I loved it and still do but it was far too complex for a beginner and put me right off. I still can't use it! I was then recommended the Rider Waite but hated it. Didn't like the imagery at all. Eventually I found a deck I could use. My current favourite is a newish one by Kristoffer Hughes - The Celtic Tarot. It's based on the Welsh lore which is right up my street.

I'm heading up to Snowdonia Grin Can't wait. My family are mostly in Cardiff area so I spend a lot of time in the south at the moment.

Bostin · 05/09/2018 22:01

Have you ever been to Uluru? There is a mistaken belief that there is a curse on anyone who removes stones or sand from the site. The aboriginal tribes do not want you to take anything from their sacred site but there is no curse. Yet the visitor centre there has files with pages and pages of letters filled with remorse and returned souvenir pebbles from people who have heard about the curse and attributed years of bad luck to the fact they took something they shouldn’t have. The outpourings are quite something to read.
@DoubleNegativePanda sounds like you can help him avoid many years of fear.

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 05/09/2018 23:43

Evening all !

Just checking in to say hi to all.

The weekends marmalade has set nicely and the herbs are flourishing in the garden. I’m busy at work but sadly my cat is unwell. According to the Vet he has a virus. 😔

@Zaphod - sending you positive thoughts.

@ARoom - if your dissertation was typed did you store your it electronically at the time? Perhaps on an old floppy disc or similar?

BeyondAnOmnishambles · 06/09/2018 09:59

I had a thought - do you maybe do what I do, and keep every old laptop/pc in the attic as you've paranoid about someone getting your data? Blush Or did you email it to yourself on an old address?

Elph, it's the wild unknown set. Some of the reviews do say the imagery is bit vague, but still that it has worked for them as a beginner. The rider Waite isnt appealing to me at all, don't know why it's just... meh.

Squidgee · 06/09/2018 13:23

Just popping in to say hi.. I didn't know this thread was here!

I'm an Eclectic Hedgewitch, have been for 20 years :)

I dont much get on with Tarot, but I do have the Brian Froud Faerie Oracle deck which I love and connect with. Anyone else have it?

Insomma1 · 06/09/2018 14:37

Ah a hedgewitch! I've been reading a little on your craft. Welcome.

Afternoon all,
Big shift here with the work situation I was talking about yesterday- I held my ground, visualised it going the way I wanted it to (an unlikely outcome), used the grounding and protection techniques and absorbed the wonderful energies you all sent my way. Out of the blue- right at the end of the day it all came together! Magic! 💫 Thank you again for your support and good wishes.

Welcome Squidgee,
I have those cards too- haven't worked with them recently but I love them! The dark lady in particular saw me through a difficult relationship breakdown a few years ago Smile

VioletCharlotte · 06/09/2018 15:47

Hello everyone. I'm really struggling at the moment. Low energy, a cold I can't shift and now toothache as well. It's making me really tired and bad tempered. If anyone has any advice or can suggest anything that might help I'd be really grateful. I've got a couple of really busy, pressurised weeks to get through as work.

speakout · 06/09/2018 15:50

Zaphodbebblebrox

So glad things worked out, VioletCharlotte sending a wave.
Sorry you are feeling low right now.

I'm conserving my energies right now, DD moves out to University tomorrow, It's been a busy week helping her get all her stuff together.
I am holding it together emotionally fairly well, but needing to safeguard all my energies.
