I'm new to the thread too but have been reading for ages and feel very happy to have found my people. Can I ask your opinions on this?
We have moved into a new neighbourhood where everyone is friendly and welcoming. The previous people here lived like hermits and the general feeling I've got is quite negative about them. They surrounded themselves by high fences and planted a Rowan tree in front of the house, which in any other context I would be fine with but in this instance I honestly get the feeling it really was for their protection (in their own minds).
.
However, I think they were misguided. I feel the negativity was coming from them, not from outside. I want to cut down the Rowan tree and open the front up to light and love from the surroundings. I will plant other lovely things, but not a Rowan tree which I think is adding to the bad vibes message.
I've been round the house blessing the whole place with my crystal and intent and already it feels a happier place. In fact I love it here.
I just wanted to ask do you think I'm on the right track in removing the Rowan? I am Scottish and was brought up loving Rowan trees and know their ancient power. I just feel in this instance it has worked against the previous people, or indicates their general mistrust of the world. Or maybe it's because it is meant to 'ward off witches and enchantment', and that doesn't feel right to me where I want to embrace my new surroundings and people.
If we do remove it I will honour it and bless its life, bearing in mind this which I've recently read and which is making me tread with caution before chopping it down:
'There are several recurring themes of protection offered by the rowan. The tree itself was said to afford protection to the dwelling by which it grew, pieces of the tree were carried by people for personal protection from witchcraft, and sprigs or pieces of rowan were used to protect especially cows and their dairy produce from enchantment. Thus we find documented instances as late as the latter half of the twentieth century of people being warned against removing or damaging the rowan tree growing in their newly acquired garden in the Scottish Highlands and Ireland.'
I would love your opinions on this, thank you.
