Thank you Speakout, once the DC are asleep im going to go sit in the garden with a cup of tea and some incense and recharge a little.

ThatsNotEvenAWord · 01/09/2018 18:58

aroomsomewhere and lacypants I wanted to echo the others in sending healing and soothing thoughts your way. Keep talking to us if it helps x

Zaphodbebblebrox · 01/09/2018 19:03

lacypants
You have my empathy with sinus pain. It's probably an obvious one but I usually give myself a 'steam'- a bowl of boiling water with a few drops of eucalyptus oil cover my head with a towel over the bowl.
Hope it eases soon

EnchantersNightshade · 01/09/2018 19:10

Viburnum!!! Thank you Elphame Been bothering me Smile

EnchantersNightshade · 01/09/2018 19:22

@lacypants poor you. You've had some good advice here. My fabulous holistic doctor (& others) recommend high strength Vit C (last thing at night on an empty stomach) to fight off infection. There's science behind it too, but can't recall it, sorry.

EnchantersNightshade · 01/09/2018 19:26

@ARoomSomewhere A very warm welcome & blessings to you. I can relate to some of your post. I'm sorry you don't feel safe, that is a draining feeling. I have no more in the tank (currently bedbound) but just wanted to say I'm thinking of you. It WILL all work out! Flowers

ARoomSomewhere · 01/09/2018 19:27

Thank you all SO MUCH!

I will read through both threads when i have more time next week.

Can anyone suggest something simple i could do before bed / upon waking?

I have been asking for guidance through dreams but not got anywhere so far.

ARoomSomewhere · 01/09/2018 19:29

speakout thank you in particular for speaking about your situation and good suggestions.x

EnchantersNightshade · 01/09/2018 20:06

@ARoomSomewhere I find that having a quiet contemplative moment (with or without a candle, oils, diary, etc) each evening and morning to give thanks for my gratitude really helps me. A reflective time to remind me of the positives, my strengths, and what tiny steps I've achieved so far.

If I feel out of control, I focus on grounding activities, eg holding a pebble, tending a houseplant, looking at the moon. If I feel unsafe I visualise pulling a very long heavy comforting purple cloak around me. Everyone is different tho & eventually you'll find something that works for you Smile

You already have the strength and answers, it will just take a while to find the path for you. Whichever one you take will hold an important life lesson, so don't fear that.

GeeIneverthoughtofthat · 01/09/2018 20:37

@lacypants a colleague recommended thyme tea to me. She said that not everyone likes the taste but if you can get past that then it can help with congestion.

@ARoomSomewhere all of these demands are causing you understandable stress. But you do not have to respond to those demands unless you want to. It would be good to go to the interview but you do not have to. You do not have to do anything to suit your former husband. When I feel overwhelmed by external demands I find it helps to ask myself whether I actually want or choose to do something (rather than simply feeling obliged to). It helps me to feel more in control if I choose to do something.

@speakout your cards have prompted me into more reading. Apparently Judgement can also mean reward for previous hard work, a reading which would certainly not have occurred to me! However an interesting link to the previous theme of diligence. And thank you again for the really interesting discussion.

Have a lovely evening all. 😊

Ittakestwo · 01/09/2018 21:03

Evening all, welcome @ARoomSomewhere and @lacypants you’re already had some very sound advice. Can’t remember who mentioned it in their post but the comment “own your power” really stood out to me.
I’ve been out and about all day at the local farmers and craft market then a festival. Dropped one of my boys off at a concert where he will probably be crowd surfing and in the middle of a mosh pit.
Settling down now with a glass of wine and watching extraordinary rituals on i player.
Oh and I’ve added a picture of my familiar Loki.

Evening all Smile

zaphod I use a tree identification app from The Woodland Trust if I'm not sure of a tree

Welcome a room

I'm drinking mead for the first time, not sure I like it and tomorrow I'm going to make a chutney. I love September, going to gather blackberries and start to tidy the garden too. Autumn is my favourite Smile

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 01/09/2018 21:24

And lacypants welcome x

speakout · 02/09/2018 07:17

Morning everyone.

Just reading all the posts from last night- the wisdom on this thread is so empowering.
There is such an idea that anyone into "woo" ( such a lazy word) is deluded, stupid, misguided- this thread proves otherwise.
Such a fountain of knowledge and wisdom.

Such a funny thing happened this week. I have been invited to speak at my mother's church.
They have no idea that I am a witch.
My mother is an active member of a local church - my mother lives with us, she is elderly, and we have the space.
She regularly has other members in my home for bible study and prayers. I don't engage with that but I make them welcome and extend politeness.
A few weeks ago the bishop was here too and I was talking with one of the female senior members about positive thought and being mindful about the input that we subject ourselves to, especially in terms of watching endless TV- especially News channels which seem gratuitous in terms of depicting negativity and unnecessary gruesome video footage.
I said we need to safeguard ourselves from too much exposure to such media.
The bishop agreed - but now I have had an invitation to come to speak to the congregation about my views and experience.

I am no expert in any of these matters- just a personal mindset.

But they have no idea that I am witch.

Part of me finds it deeply humorous that the church has unwittingly invited a witch to speak in church.

I will decline of course. While some of my views are similar to church doctrine- don't steal your neighbours goats, be kind to each other etc, there is a massive collision in other parts.

I will be making witch balls today, for home blessings and love. Also thinking ahead to Yule, as small ones are nice for tree decorations.

Hello all, can I delurk? I've been following this thread since the original one but not posted, since I would say I have no magical or even spiritual belief. But a lot of what is discussed here really resonates with me and has inspired me with ways to try and ground myself in nature / the changing of the seasons, and build some ritual and mindfulness into my life. It's lovely to find such a supportive community in this corner of Mumsnet, and enjoy the love for ancient trees, finding stones on the beach and other wisdom and kindness.

sockportal · 02/09/2018 10:00

@Ittakestwo your cat is lovely and I really like the name Loki, DH and I really like Norse names our DD has Astrid as part of her name.

Insomma1 · 02/09/2018 10:04

@speakout... Ahh the irony. Smile

I'm hoping to find time to watch a documentary on the persecution of witches by the puritanical church. Would be nice to think in this day and age the church would have moved on somewhat but I doubt it has.

Have enjoyed the many posts on intuitive knowledge /higher self and tips on how to ascertain our inner voice. I find writing here very cathartic and journal like. I like the quiet, secret space... so much easier and discreet now we have our phones to post rather than logging in and out of pc's. Though I have been asked the question, who are you texting now!?

Ah, if only you knew.

Have a blessed Sunday

speakout · 02/09/2018 10:09

KizzyWayfarer welcome!

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 02/09/2018 10:20

Oh speakout that made me actually laugh out loud! :)

Welcome Kizzy

I know we covered altars a little in thread 1, but which room is everyone's altar in? Mine is in my living room above the fire where the cat can't trash it, but I'm finding the lit candle marks the wall in black soot!

Zaphodbebblebrox · 02/09/2018 10:49

PassionFruitPop and KizzyWayfarer Welcome. It's good to have you join us.

Thank you Midnight for telling me about the app- that could be very useful to me!
I have an altar in my bedroom, but also have kind of 'mini altars' around the house- so a small ancestors area in the lounge, a few candles, stones and special shells in the bathroom etc. I guess a lot of us do this?

speakout I love your words and agree about the empowering wisdom here, not very 'woo' is it Wink

I'm laughing at the bishop's invite for you to do a talk- that's really amused me!

Love the sound of the witch balls- what do they involve?

😻 At Loki. Beautiful.

speakout · 02/09/2018 11:01

Hi, my witch's balls are like this:

I make them for Yule, or lots of purposes, Home Blessings, Love, Easing grief etc.
I fill them with herbs, sometimes a vial of gold leaf for abundance, and a little spell scroll tied up and popped inside.

Good Morning,

Warm welcome to Kizzy and Fruitpop.
Astrid is a beautiful name @sockportal.
Loki was called Trevor when we be first arrived. Didn’t fancy calling out Trevor at night in my PJ’s from my backdoor Grin.
@speakout witch balls sounds interesting can’t wait for the share.
I am also thinking about preparing Yule. The festivities at home will be a little different this year less commercial but more fun. I’m actually more excited than normal and planning ahead not something I would normally do. I’m usually ‘fly by the seat of my pants’ kind of gal.&

MidnightVelvetthe7th · 02/09/2018 11:04

I love the witch's balls!!

Zaphodbebblebrox · 02/09/2018 11:09

I love the witches ball too!
Thank you for sharing that with us speakout

sockportal · 02/09/2018 11:13

I love the witchballs @speakout that looks like a really enjoyable crafting activity
