A new thread for a new year.

A safe, quiet place to pause, breathe and count our blessings, great or small. Everyone is welcome: of all faiths or none at all, whether you post regularly or just once, whatever you are grateful for, you are welcome here.

We would love to share all the things that bring us joy or just make life a little more bearable.Flowers

Thoughtful students

The taxi driver who said “well you don’t look tired; you look fresh and smiley and alive” after a disaster of a morning that started with 4am wakeful baby and involved a missed bus.

Having a family I can’t wait to come home to.

Optimist1 · 06/09/2018 18:55

A glorious late summer day and the opportunity to enjoy it by the Thames spending time with a friend
Very special people who enrich my life in various ways
The comfortable feeling of life reverting to routine after the freestyle weeks of the summer holidays

rivierliedje · 07/09/2018 17:55

A very early birthday card from my grandparents.
Cups of strong tea
My wonderful, supportive partner who called just when I needed it.

Lessstressedhemum · 08/09/2018 10:15

A lovely evening at Messy Church
Rain to feed the soil
A warm bed curreyfilled with teenagers!

Running in the rain: the smell of the earth and the feel of autumn in the air.

My husband’s baking (the wretched man never even touches the scales - how and why is his pastry so much better than mine?!)

A warm bed with an actually-finally-napping baby in it.

Lessstressedhemum · 11/09/2018 09:39

A little peace and quiet
the sound of the wid in the trees
washing flapping on the line

Verbena87 · 11/09/2018 18:27

Reconnecting with a dear friend

Coming home to cuddles after a long day

A really good egg mayo sandwich with chives from the garden

Gr33nGlass · 11/09/2018 19:25

My child returning from far, far away

The roses still blooming in my garden

The blue tits chasing about the garden at work today

Lessstressedhemum · 12/09/2018 11:31

Sunshine through the rain
Hot showers
The opportunity to practice keeping my temper when I would dearly love to lose it.

OP posts:
Optimist1 · 12/09/2018 13:07

Those opportunities have to be regarded as blessings, Less, don't they? Smile
A great start to the football season for my grandsons
BBC - quality radio and television
My wonderful vet whose support and advice is invaluable

Lessstressedhemum · 12/09/2018 16:39

Absolutely, Optimist, the more practice we get the easier it becomes to remain patient. I am turning into my mother. "Patience is a virtue, strive to acquire it." Grin

Finding a very pretty Boden top in my size in Oxfam. Three quid. Grin

Running through the changing landscape.

Being woken up with hot coffee and a happy baby.

Gr33nGlass · 14/09/2018 08:32

Two days spent working outside with DS2. He was well enough to do it and the weather was glorious.

The crisp, delicious taste of an apple straight from the tree.

Getting my garden tool shed organised ( new home, much chaos).

Lessstressedhemum · 14/09/2018 09:33

I wish you happiness in your new home, Gr33n. Flowers

A good night last night at BB
A quiet morning
Shelter from the wind and rain

Thank you so much Lessstressedhemum. I am taking baby steps on my spiritual journey after many years of abuse from my exh and a "church" I unfortunately became involved with as a young adult.

I've found thoughtfully posting on here to be surprisingly spiritual.

Lessstressedhemum · 14/09/2018 12:43

I'm so sorry to hear that, Gr33n . I escaped a very controlling religion a number of years ago and understand how hard it can be. Never mind getting out of an abusive marriage as well. Just take your time and don't push yourself.

I hope our wee thread can be a bit of a support for you. Flowers

Good luck in your new home (and garden) gr33n - may it be full of peace and contentment (and plenty of ripe apples!) after what sounds like a rough road.

Blackberries and local honey for my porridge.

The 11 year old boy who I’d wrongly pegged as loutish it who hung back after his lesson today to tell me he’s nervous about his dance show at the weekend (“I only started dancing to prove that boys can do it, but I really love it.” - the next generation give me so much hope)

Lazy evening doing very little after a long, long day.

Lessstressedhemum · 15/09/2018 10:28

My children and the lives they are forging for theselves
My faith, which gives me untold strength to cope
A quiet time mixing teas, tincures, oils and salves.
