Salaam all.

I was at an Eid party in the park yesterday. It was nice with food stalls and abayas etc. kids had lots of fun too. There were lots of charity stalls especially for Gaza. I really wanted a bracelet to support Gaza but they had sold out.

Sisters i was wondering, what can we do to make our government do something for Gaza? The situation is desperate and i am at a loss as to what to do?

fuzzywuzzy · 04/08/2014 09:05

Assalamualaikum,

We also went to the Trafalgar square Eid event, got there as it opened and left as it started getting very crowded, the food was lovely (very crowded tho) and we got henna done too.

sis Elusive there are petitions online to force our government to at least discuss the situation, also boycott Israeli goods or produce from the West bank and give in charity for Palestine and make duas, also tweet, share images and videos of the atrocities the Israelis are committing.

I have so much respect for Baroness Warsi doing this. BBC has done my head in! Yes, the pictures do speak a thousand words dont they!

I am definitely boycotting Israel. Just trying to get my head around it all. It is shocking how many items lend support to Israel in some way. Trying to stay away from Tesco at the moment.

Hello everyone,

sorry for not having been here for a while and I have not managed to read through this thread, but I'll try...

Really just wanted to say 'Hello' and share that I am absolutely down and sad about the happenings in Gaza. In fact, I am lost for words and cannot believe these kind of artrocities are happening and am very very happy to share these feelings here in Hamburg (Germany) with Israeli Jews and all kinds of Christians alike and that we have been also participating in peace protests
This is how I feel Sad and this Angry

MsVenus · 06/08/2014 20:18

I am disheartened by all the violence and bloodshed being committed by people in general all over the world. I just read this article and felt depressed s, I daren't watch the news anymore and am saddened by the helplessness of the situation.

I'm lost for words with regards to all the stuff going on in the world at the moment. I cant quite believe the Yazidi people are stuck where they are. What on earth is happening?

Very true Crescentmoon. How can you possibly force someone to become part of a religion if they have no interest? They may go along with all the rituals if their life is at risk, but deep down they wont believe and will probably hate it and its followers even more. So why even try??

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 07/08/2014 18:21

I guess the forced conversions are about control and manipulation. If you force a population to submit to your will by fear you can control them and for these crazies, one ideology is as good as another. I remember reading about a jihadist who was a north european convert (Scandinavian) who had also been a neo nazi in the past. This type of coercive, single minded hate filled ideology (not a religion) is almost generic in that the 'cause' is less important than the chance to impose your will on people you hate (whether that's different religions, races or genders). These people don't act in the belief of true Islam obviously and as such they don't care if the conversions are from the heart or just signs of capitulation and submission to their will. I'm terrified for the people on that mountain and I can barely believe how little is being done. As in gaza. We just sit and watch the news and the international community does nothing! How can this be ok? Surely world wars have been started for less?

yummtyummy please thank your children for the lovely card Thanks

worldcitizen · 07/08/2014 21:16

Thank you crescentmoon. I also can say here from my side that Jewish people and especially Israeli-Jewsih people have been very vocal and active to condemn what's happening in Gaza and in the occupied territories all together.

My facebook account has never been this active and I would like to express also fear and worries for quite a few Jewish Israeli people who have suffered due to their activism.

Being fired, being arrested, being fined, being humiliated etc etc.

Unfortunately no-one has posted on my thread where I am asking for help with multi-faith prayers Sad

crescent sis, you never kill a thread. Your posts are wonderful and informative. I am aghast like many at what is happening in the world.

Why do we as muslims forget the very basics and waste so much tine with the in-fighting? I wish I could talk about hijab styles or fashion or something light hearted, but I am finding it very difficult at the moment.

There just seems to be so much misery in the world that I kind of feel guilty for even considering talking about light hearted stuff.

I need to snap out of it though, its not helping anybody!

Right, I am trying to snap out of it!

May I tell a joke? My jokes are hardly ever funny. This isnt my joke so i think it funny! Shall i just tell it then?

My mother-in-law fell down a wishing well, I was amazed, I never knew they worked.

For the record, I have never wished at a wishing well Grin

Even if I did, it wouldnt be about Mil

I shall slide off now!
