Hi everyone, way ehind on this thread sorry, but have been lifting you all up as a group very generally.

Welcome Nanou, no expert on the whole Christian family thing but with our dd who is 7 and half months we've tried from day one to try and show her what it means to be Christians. We have a prayer time as part of her bedtime routine - hoping that when she is bigger she will be able to say wee prayers herself instead of us doing all the talking. We also try to read her Bible stories - she got some great books as presents at her Christening - and we also have a few kids music cds which we put on from time to time. When we're at church we try to encourage her to participate as much as she is able - let her bounce around to the music, take her up the front with the other kids for the childrens talk etc. Being a Christian parent is such a big responsibility and to be honest all a bit daunting, I think the main thing is to show as much of God's love and grace through your own actions and example while they're small and teach them a bit at a time as they grow in understanding. Sorry all a bit of a waffle really but hth.

CD, glad to hear it's looking positive for Rebekah.

Our dd is better, she started to perk up friday and was hugely improved by the end of the weekend - infact we had a lovely day Sunday as a family enjoying some lovely weather with a picnic in the garden after church and just having fun - so nice to have her back to her old self. She's still pretty tired out but catching up slowly. Dh has his part 3 surgical exams coming up in May - please could you pray for him as he studys. I'm really bad for bugging him when he's trying to work so pray that I'll give him the space he needs to study. Also we could really do with him passing first time, they're pretty expensive exams to sit and it would really put a dent in things to have to pay out for them more than once - would also be better timing wise in terms of career etc - not the end of the world if he doesn't but he works so hard...

God bless and thank you x x x

PandaG · 25/04/2006 21:38

Hi CD - glad to hear that Rebekah seems to be doing well, will continue to pray.

Twiga, will pray for your DH's exams, remember when mine was sitting some professional exams and I was a new mum, pretty difficult all round.

Well, I am now the Chair of our PTA as of tonight. Had some good discussions with some RL friends who know me very well, and think that PTA is the way to go rather than governor at the moment. I have spent the last 2 years building up relationships in the PTA, and as a pastor I am probably better suited at influencing through relationship rather than power, iyswim. Please pray for my relationship with the new vice chair, who I don't know at all well, and that God will be glorified through this opportunity. Thanks all.Smile

CaptainDippy · 26/04/2006 07:47

Hi there!!

Only quick as I have little people trying to clamber all over me!!!

Hi Twiga - always great to hear from you honey!! Glad that your DD is much better - Will be praying for your DH as he studies and sits these exams - I'm pretty bad at bugging my DH too, so ikwym!!! Grin Just praying for a real calm in your house as he prepares - Let us know how it all goes!!

Thank you for the stuff you said about putting God at the centre of your relationship with your DD - That was lovely!! We try to do the same stuff with our DD's - Not great at it, but getting there - DD1 loves dancing to the worship music at church - sooooo cute!! Smile

Sigh.

Hi PandaG - Well Done being elevated to the dizzy heights of chairdom!!! Grin A wise choice, me thinks!! Praying that God would really work through this role and that your get on really well with the vice-chair!!

Some quick, important, prayers here - No more news on Rebekah just yet, but pleease please pray for our friends Tim and Keren as Keren goes into be induced at 9am - She has obstetric cholestasis (spelling?) and it is all a bit worrying for them and their friends and families - Just pray their little baby comes out quickly and ok - whether that be naturally or by section!! Hopefully I'll have an announcement to make this evening!! Smile

Also pray for our friends Paul and Nat who should be having (or had!) twins by now, Nat was labouring all day yesterday and went into hospital about 6pm ish - So praying little twins have arrived safely - She was 40 weeks + 4 (!!) - So they should be strong and healthy little chaps or chapesses!! Grin So hopefully I'll have two announcements to makes later on!!!! Grin

All well here - Going to take DD2 to doctors as her feeding has got worse again - She screams everytime I try and feed her is very distressing for all involved and I'm just worried there's something wrong. Apart from that - all ok in the Dippy Household - Prayers to all!! xxxx

CaptainDippy · 26/04/2006 10:54

Oooooh - meant to say - Thank you for your prayers - My driving lesson went really well yesterday - I kicked some roundabouts asses!! Grin We're doing reverse parallel park and reverse into a bay next week and if that goes ok (I've done them before, but am a bit rusty) then I'll have a mock test the week after - Scary, but exciting stuff - Progress!! Grin Thank you guys!! you rock!! Grin

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 26/04/2006 18:30

Hello!!

Just to let you know that Nat and Paul's twins arrived safely by emergency C-Section this morning at around 9.02am - She had a boy (6lb 9oz) and a girl (7lb 10oz). They don't have names atm, but I'll let you know when they do!! So proud of Nat - She went through over 24 hours of agonsing labour before having to have the C-Section - Thank you for your prayers.

Keren (as far as I know) went straight onto the drip sometime early this afternoon - So hopefully thier little person should be arriving sometime before the day is out (if he / she hasn't done so already)!! Keep praying for a safe delivery!!

Thank you!! Smile

OP posts:
CaptainDippy · 27/04/2006 09:28

Keren waited all day yesterday cos delivery was full - finally they took her back to the ward about 9pm and then gave her a shot of gel at 10pm. She's been contracting regularly since 5am this morning - so hopefully she has made enough progress to have her waters broken this morning!! Perhaps she won't need to go on the drip at all - Just pray their little baby makes it ok - It is such a worry with her condition. Thank you.

No more news on the twins.

Rebekah is looking good!!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much for your prayers. It is a miracle indeed. She stills neds more tests etc, but may be trasfered back to the local hospital within the day and might be home in a week - Just amazing - Thank you Lord - Keep praying everyone!!

Everything ok in DippyLand - going to take DD's to doctor tomorrow - DD1 re: chesty cough (she had pneumonia this time last year) and DD2: re Feeding issues. Also need to take DD1 for hair cut, she looks like an Afgan Hound!! Shaggy Sheep Dog Stylee!! Grin

Prayers and [hugs] to all - Updates???

OP posts:
katzg · 27/04/2006 09:33

Getting cracking on the job application just have to get it in and wait and see! will let you all know WHEN i get an interview (trying to be positive!)

Twiga · 27/04/2006 11:33

Hi all, another prayer for a wee baby needed - a new friend of mine from church has just become an aunty - her neice was born 2 days ago at 34 weeks, she is tiny but seems to be doing well. Her poor mum had an emergency section following a scan, her dh wasn't there and she has been feeling pretty out of it and exhausted since - it was 24 hrs before she was able to see her wee girl. Please pray that both mum and baby would make good progress and get stronger with each day. Also that expressing would go well on the feeding front. Ta!

CD hope the drs and hairdressers all goes smoothly.

CaptainDippy · 27/04/2006 13:23

Captain et al, have not posted here before (I don't have a faith) but would like to request a special thought/prayer for emkana and her baby - please see the pregnancy board. Hope this is ok.

Thanks

Twiga · 29/04/2006 20:32

Hi Mercy, it's been a quiet couple of days on here, just wanted to acknowledge your post and assure you that we will certainly pray for Emkana and her db Smile.

CaptainDippy · 01/05/2006 07:57

Heeeeeeeeello!! She's back! I was too exhausted when I got home last night to post, I used up my last reserves of energy to read emkana's threads and I am praying hard for her, her family and that wee unborn babe - What a terribly difficult situation she finds herself in. I am thankful that she has MN to offload on and that she has so many lovely people leaving informative and supportive posts for her as she battles through.

I am really glad that you decided to post on here Mercy - Thank you. It dosen't matter if you do not have a faith. That is not what this thread is about. I believe that there is great power in prayer and that power is available for all who want to talk to God the Father. I am sure that we will all hold emkana close here as she waits for results of tests and scan and waits for the arrival of her precious little one. I couldn't find out from the threads when her due date is (I think I was just too tired to trawl through!) Could any furnish me with this info so I can put it in my diary?? Thank you.

Well, the Dippy Clan are all back in DippyLand, which is good. We had a nice time away, lovely to see our friends, but defintely glad to be back on familiar groud - Got pretty exhausting towards the end. Not easy staying in a two bedroomed flat with friends who have no experience of babies and toddlers - I don't think they will be starting a family for a fair old while!! Wink Grin We're either off to a farm or soft play centre today - weather depending - Sunshine pleeeeease God!! Grin

How is everyone else?? (Thank you for replying to Mercy's post Twiga! How are you and your little pseudo-Scottish Clan!!?) Prayers to all. xx

Hi CD! We're all fine thanks, well we are now anyway. Yesterday saw my biggest mummy challenge - dd had a 24 hour vomiting bug which mostly involved her projectile vomiting over me because all she wanted was cuddles. Two changes of clothes and a shower later (for both of us)I eventually got her settled to bed and thankfully she slept all night with no further vomiting - thank you God! I spent all of last night half awake worrying - dh on nights this week so not great timing, however she was just grand this morning and seems to have bounced back. Today has been vomit free much to my great relief Grin.

Hi all hope you all had a really good bank holiday w/e we have been busy and fed 12 for tea today.

Can I please ask you all for prayers for friends son. He has always been a BIG lad and now at 14 yrs and 6'4 size 12 feet he has developed a bit of a prob with food. He is eating and disappearing, he's obsessed with eating no fat at all, and has lost 3 stone in 3 months. He loves his rugby and has just been picked to play for the town but as parents have pointed out he wont have energy to do it. His ds has shown him pictures of her friend with anorexia but it made no diff. Dad says he looks really skinny. Only spoke to Dad briefly but thats the gist of it as i can gather at the minute.

CaptainDippy · 02/05/2006 08:20

Morning all! Another day in DippyLand .......

Hi Twiga - Nasty yukness about your DD's vomiting bug - So glad that she seems to have bounced back though - Definitely not nice when your DH is on nights - How is he doing with the studying??? How are you doing up there in Dumfries?? How is your friend from churches niece doing? Sending [hugs] to you up there!! Smile

Hi firefly - Thank you for the kiss! Grin

Good to hear from you longwaytogo!! Shock @ 12 to tea - Good for you!! Smile Will definitely pray for your friends son - Poor lad, sounds like he has some real issues with the way that he looks. Guess it must be tough being the odd one out. Just praying that He would see how beautiful he is in God's eyes (that's all that matters) and how beneficial it is to be big - with the rugby etc. Just praying for healing before his condition gets unmanagable. Praying for all those who are trying to support him through this, especially his family. Only 14, makes me so Sad.

Well, good news here is that Rebekah is home!! I can hardly believe it! Prayer is soooo powerful - Thank you Lord!! Grin She is breast feeding well and putting on weight - making up for all that she lost in ICU. Thank you sooooo much for your prayers - look what they hsve helped do!! Smile Shows how important this thread is!

Best go - Too much to do as always!! [hugs] and prayers to all. xx

A sleepy hello. I'm not changing my name back but I am a very tired mum this morning after an exhausting weekend (nights are v. broken at the moment, and dh unwell so I do them all) Daytimes are exhausting keeping up with my two dss who are on the go from 6am to 8pm without pause. They are manic sportspeople who hate being indoors (ds1 used to stand by the front door aged 12 months, on rainy days, beating at the door, moaning to go out!)

Thank goodness I go to work occasionally!

Sleepy generic prayers for you all.

Zzzzzzz

CaptainDippy · 02/05/2006 10:10

Bless you NQSTM - May God fill you with His peace and lots of energy to get through the days - Sounds like a tough one. Fortunately for me, both my DD's (2.2 and 11 months) still have a daytime nap most days so I get a little bit of peace (to run around like a headless chicken doing everything I can't do while they are awake, which is pretty much everything!!) They go to bed about 7pm but are up at 6am (I've tried putting them to bed later, it doesn't work!) and it is pretty knackering, espcially as they can't possible amuse themselves for 5 secs when they are awake during the day!!

So I know that "on the go constantly", absolutely shattered feeling - So giving out lots of > and [[[hugs]] to you today!! Sigh. hope DH gets better soon - Yey for going out to work - Really hope a job would come up for me soon - Never thought it would take this long!! Sad

Oh well. Thank you for your post!! Smile

Thank you CD. Praying for you and for others who are job hunting at the moment. Was it another driving lesson today?

Feeling livelier!

CaptainDippy · 02/05/2006 17:03

Thank you for your job hunting prayers - Which reminds me - any more news on the "perfect" job katzg??

Yes - Just had another driving lesson - Did parallel parking - was ok - Apparentely he would like me to do a mock test next week, which is positive news, but I am not sure I feel ready, I still feel like a really crap driver - Oh well, I am sure that God will pull me through - He was an amazing habit of doing that!!! Grin Sigh.

Thank you all for your prayers and kind comments about my friends and their IVF. They have scans to determine timing/ovulation later this week so hopefully that will be good news. Glad to hear of happy endings for some of your stories, especially little Rebekah - that sounded like a terrifying situation for her family.

CaptainDippy · 03/05/2006 08:20

Hi wilbur!! Thank you for your post - Will be praying for your friends as they go for scans etc - Keep us up to date!!

No much time to post here as DD's are in a foulsome mood, pray it improves before I got nuts - esp. as we're going swimming this afternoon!! ARGH!!

Prayers to all. xxxx
