It was interesting to find out what the Plural of Phoenix was at the same time - Apparently that's derives from the original Latin - same as Matrix and Matrices. So there you go!! You learn something new everyday. Wink

Prayers for LibraPoppyGirl as well - as she seeks refuge in the ... erm ... refuge and looks to a safe future with her precious family. Protect her, Lord and show her the way she should walk .....

Prayers for everyone on here.

Please pray for DGodS who has an autism spectrum disorder but does not want to accept the support that he is being given. He's 16 and feels that everyone is stupid and that they are the ones with problems not him. His parents think his perspective is understandable but it does not make the problem any easier to cope with and it doesn't help in his relationship to school. THe situation is affecting the entire family, especially his younger sister.

BES Grin at dog eating ring. No dog in our house. THanks for prayers. Slept ppretty OK last night. Have been able to arrange to take this morning off other duties in order to concentrate on preparation for the meeting this afternoon.

amberlight · 25/03/2011 10:18

Gingercurl, I can kind of understand your dGodS's views, but yes, he needs to see things a little differently. I used to try to cope with autism by myself and got into so much trouble as a result, really. Much prayer around that.

thejaffacakesareonme · 25/03/2011 13:06

Gingercurl - had a thought re your engagement ring. My Mum lost hers years ago at my Gran's house. We didn't find it and had to return home. A few weeks later we were visiting my Gran again and when we were leaving she came to the doorstep and took a few steps outside while waving goodbye. We heard a sound from her slipper as she walked on the front step and it turned out that she had stood on the ring and it had been embedded in her slipper the whole time. My Mum was so relieved and I don't think the ring had suffered much if any damage. May be worth checking all the slippers in the house incase the same thing has happened to you. Praying that the meeting will go well.

Mangomay - great news about your friend's DH and your mole. I think it is perfectly normal to feel relief and to celebrate it as good news. I had a couple of abnormal smear tests and felt such relief too when I finally got a normal one. I'm sorry to hear about your friend and the car crash. Praying that he will find some peace.

Right - back to work. My project for today is to make a pair of curtains and I've not even finished one yet.

gingercurl · 25/03/2011 14:59

Praise God and thank you for all your prayers and support. THe meeting went much better than I had fear/expected. She (the "rotweiler") had received some good news this morning and was in a good mood which helped. And, for once, she didn't seem to be out to put me on the spot adn make me feel like an idiot. She highlighted some issues, which I fully agree with, and was very constructive and positive in the way she suggested they could be addressed which was really good. I know she is very good at her job, it's a pity she's so often in a foul mood. She actually just about admitted as much just before the meeting started. Thank you all once again.

KentMum2008 · 25/03/2011 16:16

gingercurl I don't know what denomination you are but in our family (we're Anglican) we always ask St. Anthony (patron Saint of lost things) for his help when we have lost something very precious. It genuinely works for us. When DD lost her very special bunny for 3 days, I asked St Anthony. Moments later, I checked in a bag I had checked at least 5 times before and lo and behold, there was Benny Bunny, scrunched up in the bottom under a vest. He doesn't magically make said lost item appear in front of you, its more that you seem to gain the clarity of thought needed to remember where it last was. Or occasionally you just stumble across it. It has worked for lost glasses, missing shoes, misplaced jewellery....any number of things. I tend to only use it for really important things, I should imagine St Anthony is far too busy to be finding our lost pens or spare change. :)
Give it a go.

madhairday · 25/03/2011 19:12

mangomay, praying for your friend who was in the car crash :(

blackeyedsusan · 25/03/2011 23:38

ginger curl. glad it was ok. did pray.

mangomay, I don't know about st antony being too busy but God seems to be able to locate the lost hairbrush and/or the lost comb at 7.55 on maany a morning. (and that must be a really busy time of day for lost book bags combs socks hairslides shoes pe kits water bottles uniform if our house is anything to go by) Grin i reckon that if he can keep track of how many hairs are on your head and subtract a fair number when the hair brush is actually foiund and used, then he can keep track of where a pesky toddler has flung the hairbrush with the cushions off the sofa. (favourite game is throwing everything off the sofa) (that and knocking the hairbrush off the cupboard onto the sofa in the first place) of course counting the hairs on some peoples heads is eaier than others, mentioning no names amber How are you feeling by the way? still Envy ?

Ginger curl have you looked in any carrier bags/bags that had been brought in at the same time? uunder the microwave?

TotallyUnheardOf · 27/03/2011 12:35

Hello. I have not been on here for a long time (trying to limit internet time in order to focus on work, as I work from home and on the computer, so it's sooooo easy to get sucked in and waste loads of valuable work time). It doesn't mean I haven't been thinking about you and praying. Will catch up with the thread now, but just wanted to report back on some prayers answered.

Dd2 has been coming to church with me and loving it since we came back to the UK in January, but dd1 has insisted that she doesn't believe in God and prefers to stay at home with (atheist) dh. Anyway this week, finally, she agreed to come with us. (Admittedly this was partly because she had a book token she wanted to spend and I said we could go to Waterstones after the service, but I figured that a small amount of bribery was OK...) She had a great time: Junior Church had a good discussion about exclusion and what could be done to address it, and dd1 came back in and reported back on what they'd been talking about to the whole congregation (virtually snatching the microphone from the Bishop in her eagerness Blush and Grin). She then went to the coffee session after the service and stuffed her face with ginger nuts, and was promptly asked if she'd read a prayer at next week's Mother's Day service, to which she happily agreed (so tacitly confirming that she was happy to be there next week too!). Several people complimented her on how well she spoke in the service (she is a very gobby confident child when it comes to speaking in public) and she was lapping it up. So I think we can say that that was a success!

I have been praying that she would change her mind and come with us ever since we got back here and I am all Smile now at how it has worked out.

Will catch up with the thread now, but know that you are all very much in my prayers.

blackeyedsusan · 27/03/2011 13:02

tuo weyhey!

DutchOma · 27/03/2011 14:26

That's a lovely report of answered prayer TUO.

I'm adding my own prayers of thanksgiving as Bob and I both went to church today on our 40th wedding anniversary.
I am now waiting for people to turn up to our party in the possession of myriad cupcakes, kindly provided by two members of my knitting club.

blackeyedsusan · 27/03/2011 15:31

happy anniversary Bob and DutchOma

TotallyUnheardOf · 27/03/2011 19:58

Happy Anniversary, Oma. I hope you had a happy day.

I have now read through the whole thread, and am praying for everyone. Too many to name individually, but you are all in my thoughts and prayers.

gingercurl · 27/03/2011 21:24

Hi TUO. I've been wondering how you are. Great to hear about you DD.

Happy anniversary, DO and BoB.

amberlight · 28/03/2011 08:39

Can I ask for prayers for Mary, who's not been very well the last few days?

DutchOma · 28/03/2011 10:22

Thank you all for you loving thoughts and prayers. We had a wonderful day, with more than twenty people turning up to the house and more than twenty cards, flowers, chocolates and an enormous fresh cream cake which has gone into the freezer to be used for the church's open house day on Thursday, together with all the brilliant cup cakes that were left over.

Praying for Mary, I wondered where she was.

blackeyedsusan · 28/03/2011 14:07

hope you feel better soon mary

madhairday · 28/03/2011 14:23

Praying for you Mary. Thought you had been a bit quiet. sending love.

blackeyedsusan · 29/03/2011 07:33

Oh heck, slept through 38 flippin minutes of radio alarm before the emergency alarm went off.

how are you all today?

Swaliswan · 29/03/2011 10:08

Morning all. Sorry that I@ haven't been around much recently. Apparently having 3 under 4 is a bit busy Grin

DS is a poorly baby. Please will you pray for him and if anyone is about, please could you cast an eye over my thread about him?

madhairday · 29/03/2011 10:24

Just had a look at your thread Swaliswan. I agree with the other posters - just say what you've said in the OP, could even print it out. Don't worry about being neurotic or your judgment, just set out the facts and the doctor will make the call. Praying that he recovers quickly, poor love. Good to see you on here :)

Mary how are you today?

Lots of people being quiet round here - Poppy, Caz, TACP, cd, mufti and lots of others. Praying for all.

Health bad today - would appreciate prayers. Lungs being norty.

Teaandcakeplease · 29/03/2011 10:31

Praying Swaliswan, you're not neurotic! The GP would far rather see you with a small baby than not in this situation x

Grin
amberlight · 29/03/2011 10:49

Lots of prayers...

I'm ok thanks Smile. Can't taste much and a bit tired if I overdo things, but slept well and feel fine. Phew.

blackeyedsusan · 29/03/2011 12:08

SWalisan... would never have guessed 3 under 4 were busy.. Wink
popped over to your other thread, but a bit late. I have prayed for baby, and that the gp would be able to see what is wrong, that you would be aable to think clearly to make decisions and you would be able to talk clearly to the gp.

Madhair, sorry to hear that your lungs are not cooperating today. prayed that you will feel better. how is the moving organisation going?

Tacp how are you ? still praying for new neighbours

Caz, are you still feeling poorly? I hope all is going well with baby.

Mary, I hope you are feeling better today.

Amber, praying for you too.

blackeyedsusan · 29/03/2011 14:12

what a relief that you don't have to go back to hospital. I hope that he gets better soon swaliswan try to get some rest if they give you some peace. You'll get more done after some sleep rather trying to battle through.

MaryBS · 29/03/2011 15:20

Thank you for prayers. Still a bit groggy and not up to reading/posting much, I've had a nasty viral bug since last Thursday, and its still giving me a bit of bother, although today has been a better day. Just got up from a sleep, but still feeling a little dizzy. DS has now come down with it as well :(. The knee op went well though, am hopping around like a mad bunny!
