It was interesting to find out what the Plural of Phoenix was at the same time - Apparently that's derives from the original Latin - same as Matrix and Matrices. So there you go!! You learn something new everyday. Wink

will pray

DutchOma · 23/03/2011 06:58

This is certainly the right place to come for prayer support DoodleAlley. Hope things go well on Thursday and that they find some cause for the pain and numbness.
Transport is back to square one. I rang the hospital yesterday and they said they had not received the fax the surgery sent on Friday. Surgery sent it again yesterday and said that we would (probably) hear in a couple of days. I'm out all day today, but will ring again tomorrow if I haven't heard. It's only a week now...

Oh and we have no hot water again. No idea why. We rang the plumber who sorted it at Christmas and he said he would get back to me in ten minutes as he was decorating his wife's birthday cake. But he didn't.

amberlight · 23/03/2011 11:13

Prayers anew for everyone on here...

madhairday · 23/03/2011 14:41

DO how frustrating!!

Mary glad the op went well.

Doodle pop by anytime. That's what we are here for :)

Just had a chat with the most lovely school secretary. There are places for both dc in the school we will hopefully live near. I am gobsmacked. Was phyching myself for a stroppy no-yuo-can't-come-here type. But she was just lovely. I am so excited. we just need tjhe house so it can be sported. please pray!!

madhairday · 23/03/2011 14:41

aaaagh spelling everywhere today. sorry.meds.

blackeyedsusan · 23/03/2011 14:48

ooo exciting madhairday. will pray.. what sort of house do you want?

Doodle, hope it all goes well for thurs. i was too tired last night to type more...

madhairday · 23/03/2011 17:01

Hmmmmm....how about a 6 bed mansion with swimming pool and ensuite to all rooms?

Grin

No. It's a clergy house. But should be four bed as that's the vicarage norm, also has to have a downstairs study as it will be the church office. Apart from that I guess it's just whatever comes on the market which is suitable and the diocese can afford, which may not be much...we shall see!!

amberlight · 23/03/2011 17:03

I hear there may be some of those Bishops' Palaces coming on the market soon - make them an offer Grin
Seriously though, praying for it all to work out for you

PositiveAttitude · 24/03/2011 06:43

MHD, its probably good that they are buying a house, you are far more likely to get a newer house which will require less maintenance for them. Prayers for a smooth few months ahead for you.

Prayers for you AMber, for strength and health.

Praying that someone sorts out some transport for you DO.

Prayers for everyone else on here.

DD3 (the one who has been recovering from severe CFS/ME for the past few years) has an interview today for a course she really wants to do from September. Please pray she gets given a place. I know that if she doesn't it is not what God wants her to do, but i am finding it difficult to believe that another kick in the teeth for her is God'd plan.

HAve a good day everyone. Smile

amberlight · 24/03/2011 09:49

Praying for everyone and each situation.

Still feeling more Envy than last chemo cycle so would appreciate prayers that the nausea lessens soon.

DoodleAlley · 24/03/2011 11:46

Thanks for your prayers. The hospital want to leave my foot to see if the symptoms resolve by themselves without needing another operation. So back at work next week. Feeling really nervous about it as hospital told me to take it easy and already getting pressure to do meetings that I have to walk to on other side of the city. I work part time so having phone call with boss on Monday to discuss the arrangements. I'm sorry to have to ask again as I know this is minor in comparison to others needs but I'd really appreciate prayer that the phone call goes well , that my boss is sympathetic and that I have wisdom about my levels of activity. Thanks so much x

DutchOma · 24/03/2011 14:32

A new development:- the Brompton will provide transport for Bob but not for me. So, since I quite wanted to be in Northampton on Thursday, I have cancelled the accommodation and he will go on his own. He is ok with it.
Thank you all for your prayers, it is quite a good outcome in a way.

PositiveAttitude · 24/03/2011 16:00

Good that it is a sort of answer to prayer DO, but why on earth can you not go too? It seems daft, its not going to cost them any more to take you in the transport, is it.
At least Bob is getting there. I hope you have a lovely relaxing day. Smile

stickyj · 24/03/2011 16:29

Please everyone pray for my friend and her daughter who have just lost a lovely husband and dad. I've only just found out, it happened last night and I can't imagine how she feels.

Thank you

amberlight · 24/03/2011 16:33

What? They won't let you go with your own husband to hospital, DO? Heck...

Prayers aplenty for each of you as I read through again. Stickyj, what an awful situation...

DutchOma · 24/03/2011 16:43

Well, they say I would take the place of a patient who really needs it. It makes me wonder how many they are going to collect. So in a way it would cost them more to take me and Bob does not need an escort medically. It is an answer to prayer and one I am really, in a funny way, quite grateful for. I will have three days on my own, the Thursday is all taken up, but I might actually go somewhere on my own since I won't have any responsibilities.

Praying for your friend vickyj and her daughter, was it a car accident or something else that happened?

thejaffacakesareonme · 24/03/2011 18:23

Hello ladies, I've been awol for a few days as DH and I have both had a few days off work to spend time together without the DSs. It almost felt strange not to have them around.

DO - good to hear that the transport situation has been resolved in a way that you can live with.

Sticky and Doodle - hello, prayers for both of you.

PA - prayers for your DD.

Amber - hope you are feeling better now.

MHD - sounds like you are in for an exciting time. Praying that the accommodation situation will resolve soon.

thejaffacakesareonme · 24/03/2011 18:45

Has anyone heard from LibraPoppy? I know that she was likely to be without access to a computer for a while. If you are able to read this, Poppy, I'm praying that things will get better for you.

madhairday · 24/03/2011 18:51

I've talked to Poppy on FB, jaffa. she is OK, just has a lot on and not up to MNing too much at the moment, I will tell her you are asking after her :)

Stickyj :( praying.

PositiveAttitude · 24/03/2011 19:16

One very happy DD3 here. (and a relieved mummy!!) Interview went very well and she has been offered a place on the hairdressing course that she really wants to do, on condition that her health continues to improve between now and September.
Thank you for the prayers. Smile

gingercurl · 24/03/2011 20:20

Have been lurking for a few days. Have been/AM praying for everyone on here.

DSIL is suffering racial discrimination by staff and students at a christian learning establishment Shock Angry Sad (not in this country). Another student of a similar ethnical background is receiving similar treatment. The worse thing is that it's so institutionalised, they don't even realise they are doing it. DB, who belongs to the "right" ethnical group, has got fed up with DSIL's treatment and has requested a meeting with management team.

No sight of my engagement ring as yet Sad. I have my review meeting with the rotweiler tomorrow after lunch. Feeling sick with stress. Trying to prepare but am so tired (have been working late in evenings and DS has been coming to our bed at night meaning that I get disturbed sleep.) I am not good at these things.

KentMum2008 · 24/03/2011 22:36

Hello ladies, just popping back in to say hi. Have been without internet access for a bit. My friend's DH is recovering well from his injuries, he had a lump of shrapnel removed from his face (it measured 5cm by 2cm, that's pretty huge, poor thing) and had had his jaw wired to help it heal. The shrapnel was removed from his back successfully and he is on the road to recovery. Sadly two other Irish Guards have been killed in Afghan since then, a frightening reminder of just how much danger our brave heroes are in every day. Please can we all pray for each and every man and woman serving abroad, that they are returned safely to their loved ones.

Also, please pray for a friend of mine who was involved in a car accident recently. He was driving late in the evening (he was designated driver and so had not been drinking) and swerved to avoid an oncoming car. Thankfully he was mostly uninjured but sadly his friend who was travelling with him died when the car overturned. Please pray for my friend as he deals with the sadness of losing his dear friend, and the guilt he is suffering terribly with. Please pray also for the young lads family struggling to cope with losing their son, who was only 18.

On a more positive note, I've had some good news. I has a suspicious mole removed last month (I'm in a lot of high risk groups; blonde hair, blue eyes, whiter than white skin!) and the biopsy results came back showing pre-cancerous cell changes. I went back so they could check they'd removed it all, which they had, and so was given the all clear. Have to go back in a year for a check-up but otherwise its all good. I thank God for this little bit of good news among all the sadness around me. I actually feel guilty for being so pleased. Please God, watch over my friends, who are all struggling in their different ways to cope with their pain and loss. Thank you for giving me the courage to have that mole seen to, I'd convinced myself I was over-reacting. I feel that now I have one less worry, I'm able to be a better friend and support to the dear friends of mine who need it so much more.

Prayers for everybody suffering in their own ways. We all struggle with different things, from the mundane and ordinary, to the extreme and highly unfortunate. Its only with the support and prayers of friends and loved ones that we are able to overcome hardships and face another day.
Phew....that was long. xxx

blackeyedsusan · 24/03/2011 23:33

great news about the transport DO and about dd3 PA

4 bedroom houses make me Envy madhair, nevermind 6 bed mansions!

Doodle glad to hear there is no need for an op at least just yet. you can get a certificate from your gp detailing that you are fit for work with some restrictions, like not walking... (just about to type working der)

sticky How are you? it must have been a shock for you too. people often forget about friends feeling upset too.

It has been one of those days... got sworn at aand intimidated by 2 lads whilst doing the school run because i had parked legally outside their house and they took objection to it. terrified. had the children with me, they don't need to see any more upset.

blackeyedsusan · 24/03/2011 23:36

ginger curl, for a minute there I thought your dog had eaten the ring.. will pray for sleep.

amberlight · 25/03/2011 07:54

Prayers aplenty for each of the situations in the messages as I'm reading through.

PA, phew re your DD!
Gingercurl, wish I could say that I was surprised by what you write about the discrimination - much prayer. And prayers re the engagement ring too.
And for the meeting to go much better than you anticipate.
Mangomay, prayers for your friends. And ones of praise for the result from your skin situation.
BES, heck re the lads - very scary indeed. Would the school be able to help if local residents are intimidating vulnerable parents and children? I know ours have a good relationship with the local police force for such things?

Here, feeling better this morning than I was yesterday, so many thanks for prayers. Day 2 after chemo does seem to be a tough one. I know day 4/5 can be as well, so will need a bit of prayer there too.
