I hope LibraPoppyGirl doesn't mind, but seeing as she sort of "did" a summary for me; I thought I would use her words to start a new thread as the last one was getting pretty long! Smile

It was interesting to find out what the Plural of Phoenix was at the same time - Apparently that's derives from the original Latin - same as Matrix and Matrices. So there you go!! You learn something new everyday. Wink

Prayers for LibraPoppyGirl as well - as she seeks refuge in the ... erm ... refuge and looks to a safe future with her precious family. Protect her, Lord and show her the way she should walk .....

blackeyedsusan · 16/03/2011 15:25

we are still poorly. all got colds and miserable. clingy children and grrumpy mummy are not a good combination.

ttcake glad all is going ok. it can be very worrying.

oooo Mary what a responsibility. glad it was better than you hoped.

DO Have you had any luck with a lift yet?

DutchOma · 16/03/2011 15:41

The short answer BES is:"No". We are still working on it, but it doesn't look good. I have booked the accommodation so I can stay nearby when Bob is in hospital.

thejaffacakesareonme · 16/03/2011 18:57

Tunnocksteacake (love the name by the way) - great to hear that the wee bean is fine. Praying that everything will go smoothly. Also for you too Caz.

Amber - praying that the treatment will all go well. The hats sound nice!

DO - praying that you'll get transport, one way or another

BES - how is your toe today? Were you able to make it to the GP?

Prayers of thanks from here - DS1 came home from school yesterday asking about Easter and telling me that their latest project at school is all about Easter. I had assumed that as the school is pretty non religious that the teachers wouldn't discuss Easter at all with the kids. I would guess that very few of the kids have any contact with a church, Sunday School etc so this may be the only way that a lot of the pupils will ever hear about Easter.

Teaandcakeplease · 16/03/2011 19:57

DO - could you catch a train with Bob or is that a bad idea?

Shame you couldn't see the pictures Amber.

DutchOma · 16/03/2011 21:03

Train is hugely expensive and quite a trek with wheelchair and suitcase. Coach could just be easier, but Bob is really quite frail and I don't want him (or me for that matter) totally kn....red when we get there.
And we have to be there for nine o'clock, even with door to door transport we probably will have to leave at 6.30

blackeyedsusan · 17/03/2011 09:26

Jaffa thanks for asking. didn't dare reply yesterday as last time I said it was better, it turned bright red and swollen... didn't get to the gp as we were too full of cold and off school (sigh) Still off school and toe is sore but not too bad.

Been slumped in the corner at the computer or slumped on the sofa refereeing the dcs. Been fed watered and changed and hugged. today is going to be a repeat of yesterday (sigh) We have got through a second month with just me at home but I am trying to work out how to manage when I am ill and there is no backup. When people at church finally know they may help out (just the elders know now but don't know h hit me) fortunately I am not too ill to manage at the moment.

MaryBS · 17/03/2011 09:31

Prayers BES.

Poppy, how are you?

Tunnock, praying that it all continues to go well for you.

Its my pre-op assessment today... op is next Tuesday - keyhole on my knee. I guess today is about finding which key will fit? Wink

gingercurl · 17/03/2011 10:32

BES I hope everyone gets better soon and that your toe heals without complications.

DO praying for you a quick solution to your problem. It is so difficult and stressful when you don't know how to solve things.

Tunnock Smile Prayers for you and Caz.

Amber praying for the success your treatment and also for your hair. Even if you "know" it will happen, it can be really upsetting when it does. Hopefully you can learn to do some really funky stuff with hats and scarves?

Mary hope your pre-op assessment goes well. Praying for the "locksmithing team" too.

MandP How is your niece?

PA praying for you and DD.

LPG How are you getting on?

Things are fine in Curlyworld. A silly thing is bothering me though. I misplaced my engagement ring nearly two weeks ago and can't find it anywhere. I always take it off with my wedding ring when I get home from work in the evening as I prefer "bare" hands for cooking, etc. I believe I took it off when I came home and put it in its usual place with the other ring. I say "believe" because I do it out of habit IYSWIM. Next day when I was going to put it on again, it wasn't there, only the wedding ring. I just wish I could find it.

blackeyedsusan · 17/03/2011 10:37

Oh dear. will pray for the missing ring.

Mary, you only hve to worry if they bring out one of those enormous keys they have for castles on churches. Good luck with the assessment.

amberlight · 17/03/2011 13:14

Lots of prayers as I read through, especially for those doing the Highland Fling at the incompetence of authorities, those worrying about the situation ahead of them and those battling health thingies.

Hope they find the right key, Mary [!]

MonkeyandParrot · 17/03/2011 17:01

Had a quick scan through this thread and I think its amazing what some of you ladies are surviving through. I think some ladies need a well desevered pat on the back.

My neice has gone blind Sad and they cannot stabilise her - she is currently fitting 10 times a day and they need to stop the fits. Docs aren't hopeful tbh.

Can I add another one? A mum at my church is going blind and there is no medical reason why - she is convinced that it is spiritual as she had a clear word from God that her vision was not focused in the right direction. She has a 2 year old and is struggling to care for him with her failing sight and maintain her faith. Thanks

amberlight · 17/03/2011 17:06

MonkeyandParrot, many prayers being said for those situations...

DutchOma · 17/03/2011 17:14

Thank you for those prayer pointers MAP. The Lord is my light and my salvation. Ps 27:1

thejaffacakesareonme · 17/03/2011 17:44

This message was posted by nowaynohow at the end of the last thread.

Hi all

Please can I join your thread? I really need all the Christians out there to get on the prayer wagon pretty quickly!

Back story: My friend's DD (3yo) was diagnosed with Wilms Tumours in November. She had tumours on both kidneys, as well as cancer in her lungs.

She had chemotherapy to try to shrink the tumours so that they could remove them, and they did so on Tuesday during a gruelling 6 hour operation. They have managed to leave 60% of one kidney and 75% of the other, but the bad news is that they found cancer in one of her lymph nodes.

She has now spiked a fever, and they are not sure why, and is telling her parents that she doesn't want to die

Please can you all pray for her to be healed of everything that is causing her pain and suffering, and pray for her parents to have the strength to get through this. Their faith has supported them so far, but it isn't easy. They have an amazing group of people praying every day, but I figure such a special little girl can never have too many people asking God to spare her life.

I hope you don't mind me jumping on here and hijacking the thread, but they really need our prayers.

God bless

NoWayNoHow · 17/03/2011 18:03

Thanks jaffa - sorry, didn't realise the other thread was an old thread. Will spend some time reading through tonight and praying.

Been a very hectic few days at work.
DD4 has certainly been better, so answered prayers, thank you. Please keep praying, though as this is a long term thing and wont just disappear unless God chooses to do that.

DutchOma · 18/03/2011 08:03

So difficult when a 3yo suffers from cancer. Lord, hold her in Your peace and your power.

I'm no nearer to finding transport but am waiting on the result of our application to the Brompton which was with our GP on Wednesday. There are other alleyways. Meanwhile I have been told not to worry about missing the last practice for the Hallelujah chorus which we are doing on the 2nd April on the occasion of the re-opening of our 'sanctuary' (the actual church-room as opposed to the rest of the building). We had an amazing practice in the church last night, with a conductor and a pianist and over 40 choristers, we could just do with one or two good tenors. I had been worried I would not be able to sing as I'm missing the 'dress rehearsal' on the 31st.

madhairday · 18/03/2011 10:45

Praying for all this morning.
DO glad it will be ok with the choir :) Praying that the transport gets sorted soon x

Notquitegrownup · 18/03/2011 11:18

Good morning ladies.

Nowaynohow - prayers for that dear little soul and her family at this terribly difficult time. May our Father hold them all in His arms, and bring them through this awful time, knowing His presence with them.

Gingercurl - prayers for your engagement ring to appear safely.

Please could I ask for a quick prayer for various situations at work - and prayers for me that when I hand things over I can trust Him to look after them, and not to keep fretting over them!

Thank you. God bless all
