My son's cat locked him in his bedroom when I was on holiday. He had the key in the outside of the door. The door was shut. His cat was on landing trying to get in and jumped up and hit the key and it locked.him in. He rang us in a panic and DH had to tell him to smash his door to get out

I carelessly left my (expensive) Easter chocolate where DDog could get it over night.

I woke up to several pools of melted chocolate dog vomit on the living room carpet, and then had to pay out-of-hours costs of a vet consult and overnight stay - £1,200.

And i had no Easter chocolate.

So so many. Where to start?

chewed open a tube of red paint. Cue panic as I thought it was blood. Was everywhere. Up the walls, on the carpet and all over him.

managed to understand how to open the locks on the bin and emptied them daily, leaving a trail of rubbish through the house.

ate a full box of chocolates (more than once) resulting in expensive trips to the OOH vet and having to hold his ears back while they induced vomming.

had a minor op last year. Ate his stitches twice including chewing through the surgery suit, twice.

This is the tip of the iceberg, he is a real character but we love him dearly!

Knocked over a toddler at the beach and received an asbo as a result

Ate my £600 denture - twice

Destroyed perfect fit kitchen blinds on French doors a day after they were fitted

Knocked holes in fence to get into next door

Curled out a poo on first visit to BIL’s flat - on his bed

My lab. Escaped, went on some kind of cat-poo foodie tour around the town. Returned looking very pleased with herself, but then had obviously overindulged and she vomited half digested cat poo over the utility room floor repeatedly for about half an hour. It was a good cm deep.

A cat I had as a young mum was the brat of the tribe of animals we had. We were sitting around the dining table having a meal with extended family, roast beef in the middle of the table, and brat cat ricocheted through the cat flap, flew onto the table, snatched the roast while in mid air and exited through the internal door. He'd clearly planned the execution of his actions in full military intelligence style because it was a seamless attack. We got the roast back and fed the remains to the rest of the animals, refusing to let him benefit from his ill gotten gains.

Same cat was also totally fearless of our mad, hyperactive and possibly at times a bit unpredictable large dog. I lost count of the times brat cat had his head in the dog's bowl, eating the dogs food alongside him. He'd come out at the end covered in dog slobber/spit.

And I would bet half the badly behaved dog stories on this thread are labradors.

Waitingfordoggo · Yesterday 15:08

DDog scooted his (dirty) arse on one of our pillows. While we were sitting in the bed either side of him 😒

DCat has a split personality. Butter-wouldn't-melt soppy and purry by day, ruthless serial killer after 9pm.

He is now heavily into middle of the night ritualistic slaughter. First is the performative dance and toss of mouse, preferably still squeaking, around the room. Then the feast, it is eaten whole. But the tail, stomach and internal organs are always neatly lined up on the carpet. Disturbing.

Oh yes and the Patterdale will piss on the rug if she thinks nobody is looking. Completely housetrained, but take your eye off her for an hour.... and it's only ever the good rug, never the manky old thing in the kitchen.

Echobelly · Yesterday 17:04

One of our cats has scratched one section of the hallway wallpaper to hell in the first 6 months he's been with us - he seems to have mostly stopped doing it, but maybe I'll give it another year or so and the consider getting it redone. It has a very small pattern, so I think he looks at it and thinks it's a textured surface for scratching.

strugglinguphill · Yesterday 17:05

Chewed the car seat belt when he was a pup lol and stole a kids fishing net and ran off with it….all the kids in the park where chasing him so he was having the best time! But it was so embarrassing!

CremeDeMure · Yesterday 17:07

No longer with us but old dog used to seek out and eat human 💩.

Abouteffingtime · Yesterday 17:09

Puppy shit in the kitchen sink and trod it into the plug hole

thenewaveragebear1983 · Yesterday 17:38

@forgivingfiggy 🤣 literally came on to say the same thing
I thought of another one: my lab ate an entire gammon joint and 2 chicken legs in the time it took me to open the door and say thanks to someone dropping my son off. Obviously they can’t eat bones so I then gave her 2 slices of bread as per the advice of google. She looked a bit glassy eyed but she was hungry again an hour later 🙄
she also ate a mini box of raisins and cost me £400 having her stomach pumped 🙄

My cat killed the neighbour's hamster. That was terrible. The kids were playing with their hamster in their back garden and our cat caught and killed it.

Oh my goodness!!! This wins hands down.

lovethepuppies · Yesterday 17:46

she is a sighthound ( and an asshole ).
On the day our new neighbours moved in, she broke through a 3 ft wide holly bush to eat their pet chickens 😵‍💫horrified barely describes my feelings on that one

Cubclard · Yesterday 17:48

Our cat pissed in the air fryer drawer when I left it open for 5 seconds. She likes causing electrical catastrophes and uses the electric plug socket on the wall as target practise.
Last Christmas Eve, the 4 of us had started to watch Elf with hot chocolate, when the power went off. She had pissed on the socket and short circuited the house. DH and I spent the rest of Christmas Eve fixing the socket, drying it out, so that we could have power restored.
I honestly don’t know why she does this. We clean the kitchen like crazy now, just in case the scent is still there.

Maybebabymaybenever · Yesterday 17:50

Ate a new passport, then ate the replacement emergency one also

Our border collie has an insatiable appetite and is also a petty thief (and also a loveable twat) and managed to steal a freshly, home baked loaf of bread from the kitchen counter in the blink of an eye. Ran off into the garden with it, being chased by my elderly mum, only to devour it with barely chewing... ends up almost choking and us having to perform the canine heimlich manoeuvre... vomits the whole loaf up. Needless to say, no more food kept on kitchen counters EVER again.

Also, he steals other dogs' toys when out and about💀

This is him with his latest spoils of thievery, looking too chuffed

the dog peed on the kitchen table the other day. She was excited I was home jumped onto the table
which she knows she’s not supposed to do but she was like a jack-in-a-box looked at me in an oooppps not supposed to be up here bounded down again. Then later i went into the kitchen saw a wet patch on the table and was like where’s that from. Immediately realised and wiped it up.

MyKindPoet · Yesterday 17:53

I had a cat that would pee in my ex's shoes. He was a very good judge of character!!
