That'll be Framerican like Fill-lay.

JudyTeeny · 15/10/2026 14:23

I'm not sure if it's better or worse than a quickie!

MurphysColeslaw · 15/10/2026 14:27

😁 at quickie

DrFoxtrot · 15/10/2026 17:08

I knew some women from NE England in the 90’s who pronounced it ‘kwish’ - I’ve often wondered about that and whether it’s a common regional pronunciation.

PleasantPedant · 15/10/2026 19:11

It's kwitch where I come from. Keeshay is what it's called in the midlands.

leperol · 15/10/2026 19:16

Garawge, Chick Fil ay (as mentioned), and now Kishay.

It's the Cajuns with origins around Poitiers that I blame for this Frabomination. 😊

likelysuspect · 15/10/2026 19:17

My mum says quinche. Theres loads of words she cant say

Schoolchoicesucks · 15/10/2026 19:32

Kiyosh is how we say it in my house after DS's mispronunciation when he was tiny.

Lassarn is the other one we have, my grandma's stab at lasagne many moons ago.

AgentPidge · 15/10/2026 19:35

My mum used to call a laptop a lamb chop

TigerDroveAgain · 15/10/2026 19:36

Don’t forget herbs are erbs🤭

HoldMyWine · 15/10/2026 19:36

Love it, very Nigella

TemporarilyCantDoMyself · 15/10/2026 19:38

I feel this is the place to say that my late mother willfully pronounced the letter 't' in camembert (so the end of it was Bert, like Bert and Ernie) because she thought the French were being wrong and forrin not to pronounce it.
Yes she was both insane and racist. Jeez. I'm only bonkers I'm happy to report, skipped the racist bit (at least I hope so). 😂

DosPerros · 15/10/2026 19:39

Love a key-ah-batter myself

Boreded · 15/10/2026 19:41

I kind of like it though…

erbs sounds Scouse, for some reason we’re terrible with H. Urbs sounds American, I love how they say it. Urrrbs. 😂

ItsABatFaceThing · 15/10/2026 19:51

Nearly as good as my friend who - I kid you not - insists on calling Quinoa ‘Kwin- oah’

ilovemylogburner · 15/10/2026 20:05

I know him from TikTok, he does it deliberately to increase engagement as he knows everyone will be in the comments correcting him.

Kwin-oah is acceptable as far as I'm concerned. It's not keen-wa in Spanish.

Shite-ache mushrooms
Pit-za
and Kwin-oah are just a small part of my mil’s repertoire.

Teenawilko · 15/10/2026 22:03
