OK, I know it's a really easy mistake to make. It's just that every time I read this - more and more frequently - my mind conjures something like this. Enjoy!

While we are here, I'm thinking of getting a mope head since I saw someone talking about this on Facebook today.

Pedant5corner · 23/06/2025 09:32

Is that not just a miserable face, @Zonder ? Wink

Cattery · 23/06/2025 11:29

If this thread doesn’t get into Classics I’m going to be mift (seen today)

Sounds like an excellent description of Daily Mail Face.

With regard to this thread making into Classics I think we need to air on the side of caution

And yet hear we are, smelling of mildew and regret.

Exactly!

Pedant5corner · 23/06/2025 18:35

Probably shouldn't repeat this as it's one I saw in a work video a while ago.
"[Software Product] can improve your bustiness"

Finally, a software that supports both back-end functionality and front-end enhancement!

TheaBrandt1 · 24/06/2025 22:22

I saw someone referred to as a “plane Jane” on a comment section yesterday. Conjures up all sorts of ideas! A girl who incessantly takes city breaks!?

HopeSpringsInfernal · 25/06/2025 00:16

Seen on a recent thread - 'hurd immunity'

GarlicStyle · 25/06/2025 02:34

@TheaBrandt1, I couldn't find a Jane, so have a Plane Jess!

The curb and kerb confusion is always great entertainment

Chersfrozenface · 25/06/2025 13:54

The other day I saw "kudus to" someone for something they'd done.

Very generous to give a number of thwacking great antelopes to another person but surely transportation and room to keep them would be a problem.

This is brilliant 😀

@Chersfrozenface Just a tad

Another belter. Someone has Irritable Bowl Syndrome.

Too much Tupperware, perhaps?
Reminds me of the nursing essay where patients were given bowels to wash themselves!

Two recent threads had me inwardly contemplating donning my security breeches and joining a ficus group...

Do you wear crutchless knickers with those?

RobinHeartella · 25/06/2025 17:48

I've seen "seeked" a lot lately.

If also seen "self steam" which is one of those that accidentally makes sense like the rest bite and the dire rear.

If you've got low self steam, you can't get things done under your own steam. It stands to reason

A group of naked cyclists conjugated in the park in London (seen on a recent thread cracked me up!)

Wasn’t at the crack of Dawn, was it?

I was thinking about this thread earlier when a friend told me she’d been gIven a sorbet in a restaurant as “a pallet cleanser”.

I find a Bridget brush works well too!

Kerb is really just a centuries old British misspelling that’s become set in stone.Grin

😂tbf, that could be the fault of the bastarding autocorrect which has an annoying habit of capitalising all sorts of words which might be proper nouns, even if there’s no contextual justification at all for doing so. The one which really irritates me at the moment is Quick Look - I’ve no idea what product or service that might be, which is odd given how often I take one.

I had a little smile at "it takes two to tangle", seen on a thread in Relationships today. Would it be classed as an eggcorn?
