Anybody know what age lactulose can be used? The chemist have just told DH its 1 year? Talia is 7.5 months?

NappyShedSal · 14/12/2009 17:18

GPs can prescribe from younger I believe.

Octohohohoho · 14/12/2009 18:36

Gutted - my sister is due to fly in with BA on 23rd - haven't seen her or my nephew since last summer 2008 - now it looks like they will be on strike Not sure what happens.

quick question here - those who use silver liners, do you just use them on top of fleece/suedecloth lined nappies? Wasn't sure how it would work having a liner on top of an already lined nappy.

I was very impressed yesterday morning to find that Clement had lasted the whole night without any leaks or dampness, while wearing a Bumgenius v3! All I had stuffed it with was a 2-part hemp Wonderfuls insert (from Wonderoos) and half of a bamboo terry square. So I was super impressed, as it wasn't a bulky nappy! But for some reason, the tip of his penis was rather red! No rash anywhere else, but just a bit red and sore looking there. So I wondered if a silver liner would help prevent that perhaps, if worn overnight?

Hope everyone is ok!

Octohohohoho · 14/12/2009 21:38

Yes - just pop on top.

TheTwelveDAISYofChristmas · 14/12/2009 22:39

hellooooo; feel like a stranger here as I have been flat out recently!!!

Rachel, did you get to the bottom of C's rash? Went to change bumble this morning and he has the same rash across his tummy and round ponto his buttocks, and big red weals around his thighs (strangely outside of the legs of the nappy). He had been in a coolababy pocket with an additional bamboo insert for about four hours. Never seen anything like it . It hasn't really improved over the course of the day, but doesn't seem to be bothering him?

Aw sal that your mum isn't well enough to do Christmas, but it'll be lovely for you all I'm sure having her with you, and you getting to do Christmas at home. Having spent years visiting other people, we are really enjoying Christmas here for the last couple of years. We also had my mum here for what turned out to be her last Christmas (the following year she was in the hospice ) and I really treasure the memories of it

Love Fuzzis here. Have some older pointy tab ones, some of the first generation with the square tabs, some newer ones (liners seem thicker), and some of the one size, but the ones before the latest (no adjustable waist on them). Love them all, but DH never fastens the legs tight enough or in the right order (in spite of me reminding him constantly) so we get leaks when he puts them on , but this is the man who fastened bumble's vest BEFORE putting his wrap on on more than one occasion when he was teeny tiny

got the tree up today; I did it with the DC while listening to 50s Christmas tunes, then we sat in the dark waiting for DH to come home so we could do the official switch on . Even got some lights out on the conifer we planted in memory of my babies that never were (two MCs between DS1 and DD ) which is finally big enough. Looks fabulous . So, a mince pie and some nice red wine later and I am definately in the Christmas spirit.

and I have my first group demo tomorrow

thebluefoxategreensocks · 14/12/2009 23:14

octo: thanks for the reply - will try that tonight and see if it prevents him getting red bits! LOL

daisy: I think we've gotten to the bottom of rash problems (generally speaking, at least). Clement does have sensitive skin, so I have to be careful what I put on him. But I haven't tried any fitteds on him again since the bad episode with the Bedbug - I think it was ammonia build up since my soap flakes aren't powerful enough to get through to the microfibre core in the middle of the nappies! So I can easily enough sort the nappies with detergent but detergent isn't good for my little boys' eczema, so I think I'll have to eventually come to grips with the fact that as long as we're using soap flakes, I don't think we can use thick nappies like the Bedbugs. Hence me trying Clement in a Bumgenius the other night, which didn't leak!

But as far as daytime goes, we have no problems at all with suedecloth lined pockets - GreenKids, Bumgenius, and older Wonderoos all work fab on him without causing any rashes! Love GKs the best, esp the Minkytimes (I've just tonight bought a giraffe minkytimes, even though we have enough pockets already! oops!).

I hope you sort out what's causing the rash on your little one! It's awful when this happens!

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 15/12/2009 09:42

Hi all!!

Busy here, few school issues with dd1 taking up all my brain space!

Rachel - will have a last wear of the beautiful bug tonight, and then strip it tomorow and Thursday, dry and post Sat I should think. IS that ok?

Or I can crack on and post it back but it wont have had a good stripping? But you might prefer that as you don't like to use chemicals......so you choose as I keep talking myself in and out of stripping it

Really pleased you have got the nappies sorted, we've had dry nights in bg and fb, it's all in the stuffing.

Am sorry to hear about your mum SAl, I hope Christmas is a good one. x

thebluefoxategreensocks · 15/12/2009 09:54

Another dry night with a BG! And ,(probably thanks to the silver liner!), no redness on his bits either! The elastic is a bit tight on his legs (because he's so monster fat! lol) but the good elastic on the v3s is better than the dead elastic that seems to happen very quickly on the v2s! And I think another positive about the v3s is the 1 inch of PUL that's on the top inside of the nappy. I've tried GreenKids and Wonderoos at night but we get wicking from the top of the pocket onto his vests. So I think that's extra secure inch of waterproof fabric makes it especially ideal for nights! Just as long as he doesn't get any fatter!!!

tree: I'm not worried about you stripping it, because all the Bedbugs here will have to be washed in powerful detergents to get them sorted. And I'm not sure that we'll be able to use them now anyway, as it seems we need stay-dry nappies for Clement - and disposables just help Benjamin sleep better anyway. So I think I'll have to come to terms with selling them on eventually (as there's not much point in them sitting unused)! Once they've all had triple power washes of course, with bio and non bio and nothing at all! LOL So feel free to use it a couple of more times if you like (you can use it instead of stripping it! ), as it's no mega rush to get it back to me! But did it work okay in the end? Were you able to get the ammonia smell out of it, and it didn't cause her any rashes? I've not been brave enough to try the ones I stripped/washed in detergents, but I might try one for a short period during the day just to make sure any problems/smells are cleared from it.

Scotia · 15/12/2009 10:58

kmummy, where are you? Get yourself on CNT!

tackyChristmastreedelivery · 15/12/2009 11:03

OOOOo has kmummy got news????

rachel - she has only tried it once. I wouldn't dare let such a lovely thing within a metre of the toxic waste being produced since the runs struck last week!!! .

We are passed the chemical leaks at odd times now, so I dare try it tonight.

Wow at the thought of all your bedbugs flooding the market!! There will be a bunfight

Scotia · 15/12/2009 11:21

Have a look at the Baby of the Year

thebluefoxategreensocks · 15/12/2009 12:28

tree: Well, if you get on with it OK tonight (and it doesn't give her any problems), then go ahead and keep it another week or so - or even send it back after christmas! The runs have prevented you getting a fair trial of it, so please do feel free to keep it longer - I shall be most pleased if you do & don't mind!

And as for market being flooded with my bedbugs, there seem to be a lot already being sold on CNT at the moment, so they might not fetch as much as they would have done a few months back. I guess too many people have been buying them new or something! lol

thebluefoxategreensocks · 15/12/2009 16:02

anyone here still use BBHs? Just seen a listing for some on UsedNappies - 16 of the Bamboo ones, with starting bid of 50 quid (plus 15 postage) and no reserve! A bargain if someone needed lots of these! LOL Person doesn't have any feedback on there tho.
www.usednappies.co.uk/16-BAMBOO-BABY-BEHINDS--GREAT-CONDITION-CREAMBLUEPURPLE,name,53555,auction_id, auction_details

swampster · 15/12/2009 16:15

I still love BBHs - if I use a fitted in the day time it is invariably a BBH and sometimes use them at night too though I prefer Bedbugs and WNNN. After using BBHs I could never go back to the sodden, steaming mess that is the standard fitted nappy!

swampster · 15/12/2009 16:16

...But got far too many to ever have to buy more!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 15/12/2009 16:35

LOL swamp! I bought BBHs twice and sold them all again - just couldn't love them, I'm afraid!

wonder when I'll learn that browsing nappy sites is dangerous ...just bought this
www.usednappies.co.uk/2x-UPSY-DAISY-LARGE-HEMP-FITTEDNIGHT-NAPPY--,name,53827,auction_id,auction_det ails I think the pic looks more like the soy nappies (since the person said it's fabric that doesn't go stiff, despite them thinking it was hemp fleece), so we'll see what they're like! Seemed quite a good price and thought it might be good to have a couple of fleece lined fitteds for Benjamin - and we have plenty of stuff for stuffing nappies with, so lack of inserts is never an issue with anything!

mumFrostyface · 15/12/2009 16:59

Still no purple Itti
Just washed a pile of nappies only to find the mushed up powder still in the drawer! Not sure why it's not gone through, but they are still lovely and clean even with no powder! I suppose I have just stripped them.

Octohohohoho · 15/12/2009 17:48

Just bookmarking! Hope all is well x
