Hello! please may I come in? Have brought blueberry muffins and carrot cake to apologise for being awol for so long
Glad to hear everyone is doing well, and that the babies are growing up fast! T is getting bigger every day, no teeth but gallons of dribble! She's settled in well with the childminders (2 girls working together) who are FAB, and she seems equally happy with either of them which is perfect, so no complaints there at least! Though they have EIGHT DAYS they can't do in July so no idea what we're going to do then!
Unfortunately other parts of our lives are not so straightforward... we found out in January that DH's dad has lung cancer... to cut a very long and tedious story short, they've been messed around outrageously and having been told it was cancer on 30th December, TODAY was the first time he's had any treatment... They've been told it's not too bad, then really awful, then fairly minor, then dreadful etc etc etc all the way through. Having gone into hospital yesterday for keyhole surgery for a tumour contained in the lung he was told AFTER HE WAS ADMITTED and MIL had gone home that actually it was much larger than they thought (7.5cm dia) and that they couldn't do keyhole, that it may well have come out of the lung and attached itself to the chest wall and that in fact it may be too advanced to operate at all.... So who knows. Latest this aft is that the op went really well, but on past showing god only knows what tomorrow will bring...
In other news.... My mum is still not fully recovered from her broken ankle (at the beginnning of November FFS) so isn't really able to help with T at all... Work is ok but frankly a big struggle. Am available to work every day, and T is at the CM's every day 8.30 til 2.30 as core hours, but I try to work at home some of the time in order to try to keep up with paperwork (ha bloody ha) DH is finding it more of a strain than I am I think, due to the nature of our jobs we don't know from one day to the next which of us will be dropping her off or what time I will finish and be able to pick her up, but no disasters so far, and the CMs are v flexible which helps enormously. I don't mind taking things one day at a time, but DH likes to know what he's doing in advance which is tough for him. Coupled with the fact that I'm trying to fit a full time job into part time hours so I can spend time with T in the afternoons, makes for a pretty stressful time all in all.
Plus we've all had pretty awful colds, but poor T had it worst. DH has been feeling rough for weeks and is off for blood tests next week... I'm pretty sure it's a combination of stress and exhaustion rather than anything else. We'll see.
On a more cheerful note, we've booked a holiday (we can't afford)(at all) in May. We're off to Kefalonia for a week (for a well deserved break I reckon!) yippee! So I'd be grateful for any tips from any of you who have done this before on what we should take with us, tips for plane journeys with a baby etc etc. Am going to go and search for threads which might help in a sec...
So think that's it for now! Hope everyone has a lovely easter xx
