Is it feeding time yet?

pull up a rock or patch of grass and get comfy in our new enclosure!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
havingagiraffe · 06/10/2009 16:14

OMG - 22 children - you fool. Mind you I'm sure that is what I have to come. I think L has more friends than me!

That is freaky that by the time Penguin finishes work your little bean will be here.

I am still suffering from my run so don't be too impressed.

N has a ridiculously red cheek - just one though and it feels really hot - teething do you think?

Hyena · 06/10/2009 20:20

She def has more friends than I do....we actually had to limit the amount of children she wanted to invite this year and I felt very sneaky handing out invites to only a handful of girls in her class.
Your run must be doing something if you're suffering. I'm awful at running.
Sounds v,v,v,v,v likely that N is teething. Does he have any teeth yet? Dose him up with calpol and get some Ashton and Parsons. Poor little thing .

I've just been to Tesco to buy Lara some things for Christmas. Disney DVDs are BOGOF and lots of their toys are half price. DP just reminded me that it's Oct...

havingagiraffe · 06/10/2009 21:27

Well done you. You need to remind DP that you may have your hands full in the run up to Christmas and not be wanting to hit the shops.....

....what am I talking about as if childbirth is going to stop you shopping!

No teeth that I can see or feel yet and he doesn't seem too bothered- he just looks like I've smacked his right cheek!

ooh, L's birthday! How exciting Is it her actual birthday on Sat?

Giraffe - J's just got his first tooth (1st Oct - nice and easy to remember ) It started with a very red cheek, might still take a few days to come in.. I hope N doesn't suffer too much, some babies have an awful time I haven't has to give J anything for the pain but he loves to chomp on Bickiepegs or anything hard. Cucumber sticks is good too as they are nice and cold on their gums
If he really suffers with it then I would definitely do what Hyena suggested.

I've been trying to sort through all my Ofsted crap. I've got an inspector coming over next Weds [very very scared] as I asked for a variation on my certificate to have two babies under one in Jan. Last time I asked for a variation, it was done over the phone. My inspection isn't actually due until January so this has thrown me a little.
Just been getting my 101 policies together and permission forms signed etc...

mamafox · 07/10/2009 04:29

My small boy has just fallen asleep on his tummy again. Give him tummy time every day and every time he wails for a few minutes then gives up and sleeps
Hasn't done anymore rolling, onto his side but not all the way over.
Have cooked dinner already (a little early, it's only 1.30pm), chicken korma with pumpkin and chickpeas thrown in as well. Yummy Just have to wait 5hrs to eat it.

Hyena · 07/10/2009 12:03

Giraffe Fruit is right, cucumber is a good one as are carrots (peeled and cut into sticks). I guess I'll just have to do all of my shopping online if I have my hands full. It never feels like you're spending 'real' money then .
Fruit Don't you just HATE the overload of paper work? It totally sucks and no-one really keeps any until they're being inspected . Her birthday isn't until 26th but I thought we'd better get the party out of the way in the unlikely event that I give birth before then.
Mamafox Your curry sounds yum - send some this way .

I've been spending AGAIN. DD needed a swimming belt for her swimming lessons and then I popped to Mothercare to get a couple of feeding bras. They're not as bad as I remember (or maybe they've just jazzed them up a bit). I might get some from HotMilk but not sure of sizing.

Meeeow · 07/10/2009 18:54

I've been trying to find the time to post but my goodness this motherhood thing is time consuming I have been getting myself in to a bit of a routine recently (me, not 'I' mind) we've borrowed a 'wii fit' and so far used it for 30 min exercise the last two days, I especially like the yoga and ache like buggery from doing the 'warrior' (that sounds rude ) Better go, DH is trying to dress I after the bath and hates it as she screams..why she does this I don't know, any one else have this experience?

Hyena I love my Mothercare bras, I had to go to the huge store to get them but I have two of the new M2b ones, quite sexy actually, well if you like that kind of thing

Mamafox you're good with the tummy time, i have tried a few times with I but she just buries her face in the floor and yells in a smothered kind of way and makes me feel bad! fruit lent me a toy thing to help, which makes it better, but still only a few minutes at a time, to think I used to sleep on my tummy as a baby.

Fruit oh the joys of OFSTED! tell me about it! Glad you're joining us for baby show! I'm really excited, I loved it last time. maybe we can bully my sis in to a 3d scan of that beautiful boy she's carrying!?

CaptainNemo · 07/10/2009 21:25

Evening all just a VERY quick one to say I'm thinking of you all and am managing to lurk a bit, if not to post. Things ok here, still loving it, and dreading going back to work... I know January will come round all too quickly

Re Ipswich trip, DH has to work til at least 4pm on the friday so am dreading the journey, guess we'll hit the m25 bang on rush hour [horror] but could maybe meet on the sunday instead Giraffe, Impala and cubs, if you'd like to? Let me know? Be lovely to see you all!

xx

Impala · 07/10/2009 23:01

Evening ladies
E is slowly getting better - I took her to the doctor's on Monday as she still had a fever and she's got an ear infection on top of her cold So she's now on ABs to try to clear it. On top of which she's got another tooth coming through so that is making her miserable as well! DH is ill with the cold too - he's had it for about a week but I think the lack of sleep over the weekend has caught up with him because it's come back with a vengeance. He's been off work today and is unlikely to go in tomorrow. So a very poorly Impala household atm - just me and the cat managing to stay healthy!
Nemo Unfortunately I can't do the Sunday as I have a training day in London then Really gutted I'm going to miss seeing you and T and also Giraffe and N
Glad everything is going OK with you though. What are your childcare options for January btw?
Meeow E used to scream like anything after a bath. I think it's the transition from the water. My DH hated dressing her then too. For tummy time you could try laying her across your arm on her tummy (like the hold which is meant to help colic), supporting her chest and legs. Our baby massage instructor suggested this to one of my NCT friends whose baby also hated being on his tummy and it really helped. With E I just used to turn her over onto her tummy for a couple of minutes whenever she was on her playmat. Some days she was OK, other days she'd scream but eventually she got used to it. She was a lot happier once her neck muscles got stronger.
Mamafox Hope you enjoyed your curry, it sounded scrummy!
Giraffe Hope N's tooth isn't hurting him too much. It's horrible seeing them in pain I give E Nelson's teetha powders to help and Calpol if it gets really bad. She's just started using a teething ring but until now she wasn't bothered (or couldn't work out what it was for ) I also hope his cold is better. And please don't feel bad for wanting some time away from him - I've really enjoyed the past couple of times E has been in nursery. Even something simple such as eating lunch uninterrupted makes a difference. Hope you can catch up on some sleep too - everything always seems much worse when you're tired.
Hippo Sorry you had to stop bf because of your tummy bug, but well done for going for so long. I think I'm going to have to keep going well past a year at this rate because I can't see E weaning herself off the breast anytime soon, especially at night! She only has one feed during the day now and will probably drop that soon but the evening feed is sacred as far as she's concerned!
Fruity Good luck preparing for the inspection. What a nightmare. I couldn't believe how much paperwork there was at the nursery too. How do OFSTED think you manage to actually play with and look after the children if you're constantly having to fill out forms etc? Yay to J getting his first tooth though
Hyena Have you bought some of those vest nursing tops too? I think they're great and have lived in mine for the past year Another excuse to flex the plastic if you haven't bought any yet! Good luck with L's birthday party and the 22 children I guess that's something for me to look forward to
Hope everyone else is well

Impala · 07/10/2009 23:01

Wow, didn't realise I'd written such an essay - sorry

Meeeow · 08/10/2009 10:44

impala thanks for that advice and glad E's on the mend

Hyena · 08/10/2009 14:33

Impala Glad E is feeling a bit better. Poor thing - ear infections are so sore and to be poorly on top of that.... I haven't bought the vest tops but I did eye them up. Are they the ones with the clips you can pull down? Are they supportive? I always wore a vest top under my clothes when feeding DD so I could pull one top down and one up to hide the jelly belly.
Nemo January is still a long time away. Big kiss to T.
Meeeow I bought two M2B ones too. That'll be enough to start me off. I have a feeling they won't fit for long if my boobs grow like they did last time .

havingagiraffe · 09/10/2009 09:20

Morning ladies

It is grey and dull outside but we are only going to yoga today so just the kind of day to curl up at home. Think N's cold is finally on the way out, after 3 weeks! DP has also had it so like Impala me and the cats have been the only healthy ones, in fact Biff has had an eye infection so just me and George really.

Nemo So sorry I can't make Sunday either, we have our nieces staying that weekend. They are so excited about helping with Noah and apparently they dance about the lounge when Strictly is on - they best not get in the way of the telly!

Hyena Good luck with the party . Is she 4 or 5? My brain is lost!!

Waves to everyone else - I have an open bottle of EBM next to me which always makes me nervous so need to go find a lid and get it in the fridge. xx

PenguinPoo · 09/10/2009 11:13

Morning ladies
Can I just ask a quick question? I think it's been covered on here before but too tired to go trawling back through.
Do you HAVE to wash all the baby clothes beforehand?
Thanks
Will try and do a better post later x

CaptainNemo · 09/10/2009 11:46

Giraffe & Impala

Penguin up to you, tbh I washed most but not all, after out antenatal class mw scared the bejesus out of all of us with tales of babies she'd seen who were allergic to the dressing they put on new clothes or biological washing powder who apparently came up in huge abscesses (sp?) and boils... nice! Plus I'm now addicted to the smell of fairy non-bio so don't mind washing Not sure how long it'll last. Have very naughtily ordered a heap of stuff for T on ebay (was so cheap I may have got a touch carried away... ) so will def be washing all of that before she wears it. HTH! How you doing now? How's the pelvis?

Love to all from Nemo household. xx

PS am KNACKERED today! Really should be doing something more useful while she's asleep, but wanted to come and see you all! xx

Fruitbatlings · 09/10/2009 12:16

Penguin I only washed the second hand stuff. New clothes look so lovely all brand new and uncreased (I don't iron anything) I also use bio liquid (sshhhhh, don't tell my Mother!) It washes so much better than non-bio (ime) Plus non-bio would never get out that horrid man smell from DH's clothes. I have a friend who washes baby clothes separately but I think she's mad, don't know how she finds the time to mess around like that

Hey Nemo how's motherhood going? Fun isn't it

Just been to playgroup with meeeow and had a lovely cuddle with mini meeeow - sooooo cuuute

Got my new pram on Weds and It.Is.Fab! I love it and can't wait to take it out for another spin tomorrow - DH just keeps saying - "Why do we need three buggies?" Well two I definitely need - a double and my new single, I can't part with the Frog as it was C's so it's a sentimental thing....

The kiddies are just having their lunch, J's got a mouthful of bread and ham and has a huge grin on his face, he's sooooo cheeky

Impala So please E is getting better - even though it's slowly, at least she's heading in the right direction.

Better go and get this lot ready for naps..........

mamafox · 09/10/2009 13:01

Where do you keep 3 prams Fruity? I have one in the boot of the car and one in our garage and even that seems excessive.....
Took dd1 to her school disco tonight, had her and dd2's hair cut this afternoon, and the hairdresser braided the top part of dd1's hair and put sparkly hairspray in it, she looks great. & how's this, over the last few weeks I have been ebaying all they girl's stuff in good condition that ds can't wear. Today I started ironing and taking photos of my maternity clothes, some of which I have had since pregnant with dd1. Have never wanted to part with it before, but now am happy to. Actually it wouldn't bother me if we had another dc, but I know it would bother dh plus we don't have the room in the house or the car. & I decided being pregnant at 38 was hard work, any older and I don't want to consider it Moses basket is going on Ebay next as well, moved ds out of it on the weekend afer he rolled over twice, when on the floor next to me. He's now safely in his cot, moving around safely in there.
Not sure if any of you have had the pleasure of tasting a Tim Tam. If you have any Australian friends, Tim Tams are up with Vegemite, Violet Crumbles and Twisties for things we miss when o/s. Anyway, they have just made a white choc Tim Tam, hmmmm, delish

Fruitbatlings · 10/10/2009 19:34

mamafox - I have a shed especially for my prams

Well done on parting with the baby/maternity stuff! I'm not done until I have my little girl in my arms! Although think I should stop at four but who knows how I'll feel then with four boys (just one more go? )

Ahhhhh Tim Tams are gorgeous very much like a Penguin but for some reason are better, you bite one corner then the opposite corner then suck your coffee/tea/hot choc through like a straw yuuuuummmmmmmm......

Had a one year old's party to go to today, J had a huge amount of fun demolishing pizza, chicken drumsticks (!) and best of all CHOCOLATE CAKE!

CONGRATULATIONS TO MR AND MRS TURK ON THE BIRTH OF THEIR TWINS!!!! So pleased for you. Hope you're recovering well and that the LOs are piling on the ounces.
Fruit Are all these girls making you extra broody for another one? What does the Mr think?
Nemo Have you managed to catch up on any sleep? Gorgeous piccies of T on FB.
Penguin I wash everything but you know what I'm like .
Giraffe She's going to be 4 but not until 26th. Thought we'd better get the party out of the way with edd at 30th.

Party went well but didn't sit down all day. The LOs enjoyed themselves though so that's the main thing. We had to take L to another two parties today so am offically partied out and looking forward to slumping on the sofa and watching Xfactor.
