GENERAL CHAT THREAD FOR CLOTH NAPPY USERS - PART 3

1000 replies

BigBadMouseInHauntedHouse · 30/10/2008 19:29

(Incredibly childish) BBM sneakily makes part 3 thread and places Sandy's flag at the top for a second time.

(Flag is made from organic cotton and has been dry pailed and washed at 40C)

where is everyone??????

lollipopmother · 08/11/2008 13:41

I've finally had enough of this nappy lark! I didn't have any Bumhuggers left last night so I put her in a disposable and when I changed her in the morning poo had come out of the leg and on to her bodysuit. I suppose at least with the Bumhugger it only goes onto the wrap, but it is really giving me the hump. I don't know what else I can use for nights. I've got 3 Wonderoos maybe I should use that with an extra booster, but I don't know whether to trust it or not, I'd hate her to be wet all night as she does seem to be quite a heavy wetter.

wastingmyeducation · 08/11/2008 15:29

Hey, lollipop, is she waking for night feeds still?

xx

SunflowerNeedsSunshine · 08/11/2008 17:53

lollipop - just answered you oon FB - haven't had any leaks with wonderoo (small micro insert + 1 micro dishcloth) putting it on her at her 11pm feed (when she takes about 4-5oz of EBM) and changing it at 7am, and her bum still dry (had wet leaks with pampers baby dry on the other end, weird, now I don't trust any dispos at night!)

lollipopmother · 08/11/2008 18:45

Wasting - Yes she sleeps through now, for between 6-8 hours.

Sunflower - I love the Wonderoo for dryness, her bottom is bone dry where as i'd describe it as clammy or just very slightly sticky in all her others.

wastingmyeducation · 08/11/2008 19:59

You lucky you! No advice then, sorry!

xx

BigBadMouse · 08/11/2008 23:38

hello sorry - didn't realise you guys would be worried . Having to deal with too much RL atm - not all good stuff but ho hum . Anyway....nappies

No1 bimbles/bumbles (I think it was you who asked) are fab. You have to be careful what you are buying. It used to be that bimbles were just small bumbles for newborns and littlies but now they do a btp bimble that is just as different (trimmer fitting) version of the bumble. Newborn bimbles are lovely, btp bumbles are bulky on newborns but fantastic otherwise. Well made and very versatile - esp the nippa fit. There is also the eco-bumble which is an economy version which has just one layer of terry instead of two. They can be boosted easily (I use bamboo terries at night, microfibre dishclothes during the day). In short, well worth a try.

sunflower thanks for the tipoff with the pocket bots

rusmum - to whiten nappies you can use Napisan (pretty severe option), vanish (less severe) or onelife nappy sanitiser or similar (not as nasty as napisan). The sun will also help to whiten them. Often they have gone grey after being washed with liquid detergent and not powder - a few washes with a powder will sometimes be all you need to do.

lollipop don't use a disposable without a wrap over the top! - tis the rule in our house! What inserts are you using with your wonderoo? One hemp and one microfibre is a good night combination.

btw was very touched you all noticed I had disappeared

rusmum · 09/11/2008 08:53

Where you ben BBM??? glad y ou ok!!!!

Advice please - see you were missed. slim absorbant bamboo nippa nappy???? bamboozles - not liking applix.

LOVING airflow if anyone selling patterned in m, m/l???

babyjjbaby · 09/11/2008 10:11

hiya bbm hope u r ok

BigBadMouse · 09/11/2008 15:00

Hello

Rusmum - Nippa bamboozles are discontinued - quality issues, the nippas shred the fabric. Bambeasies are lovely - far better than bamboozles anyway IMO and they come in nippa or popper fit.

bambeasies

bamboo loveable is another option - you'll have to scroll down a fair bit to see it but it is on this page - honest!

rusmum · 09/11/2008 15:56

bbm - a disposable with a wrap on top?

ilovemydogandPresidentObama · 09/11/2008 18:00

Think I need one of these..

Prize to anyone who can work out whether it would fit a UK toilet...

will sort out my life

NattyTomAndEllen · 09/11/2008 18:22

ok guys.. need some advice.
just switched from the mothercare smart nappie (why oh why did i buy them) to motherease. i need to know what kinds of wraps other than their own work well with them, yet are not quite as much money.

cheers!

ilovemydogandPresidentObama · 09/11/2008 19:16

The new Tots Bots are good - relaxed gusset, but ime, Motherease wraps are the best. They are really durable, almost never leak. (there are also the popper wraps, but prefer velcro)

rusmum · 09/11/2008 19:18

natty buy 2nd hand motherease then cheaper. ie i got mine for about £-3-4 each. Otherwise tots bots or prowraps.

NattyTomAndEllen · 09/11/2008 19:49

wheres the best place to get them? i got my motherease on here but there is a shortage of wraps

rusmum · 09/11/2008 20:04

you can get them here uk.groups.yahoo.com/group/realnappies/

rusmum · 09/11/2008 20:05

oe here www.thenappysite.co.uk/used-nappies/second-hand-nappies.php

i have some depends what size you after.

lollipopmother · 09/11/2008 20:27

Natty - I think that Popolini wraps are the same but a touch cheaper, certainly their nappy is the same as the Sandy's, and BooCoo sell them here

Has anyone seen the new Hip Hip Baby nappy called the Easy Peasy? I wonder whether it's as nice as the Wonderoo.

I put my DD in a Wonderoo for the night last night and she was bone dry this morning, very impressed, but now I've just got to wait for her to poo in it because I'm sure the legs aren't tight enough, basically the same issue as the ruddy Bumhuggers I suspect.

NattyTomAndEllen · 09/11/2008 20:35

i want large, or preferablly extra large, as daughter and son are 18 months and 30 months respectivly..
