Just for fun, curiosity and some inspiration!

My almost 2 year old is a pretty picky eater so feel free share any good picky eating ideas or tips too.

Today was a pretty good day. He had:

B: Cheerios x2 bowls
S: Banana & carrot porridge muffin
L: Cheese sandwich with 1 slice of bread, crisps, cucumber batons & half a banana
S: Apple (ate some of it) & milk
D: Eggy bread & baked beans, strawberries
S: Flapjack bites

breakfast - weetabix with raisins and cranberries (all)
walk to nursery - Ella’s kitchen smoothie pouch (all)
nursery lunch - beer stir fry (all) and fruit salad (little)
dinner - pizza and veg (just ate the cheese) youghurt x2 (devoured like she’s never been fed)

bm before bed

Not going to lie, this thread is extremely reassuring.

DD - Almost 12mo

B: 100ml aptamil; Weetabix with milk and grated apple.
Snack 1: refused her nap until 11am so missed it.
Lunch: scrambled egg with tomatoes, sweet potato. Ate about 1/2 an eggs worth, chewed all tomatoes, sweet potato rejected. Demanded a bite of my cheese wrap. Had about 6 blueberries.
Snack: yoghurt pouch - ate 100% and licked the remainder. Had about 100ml aptamil
Dinner: lightly chewed a baby "pizza" (wholemeal wrap with tomato paste, cheese, brocolli). Ate 1/2 mini cheddar. Ate 10 blueberries.
Supper: 100ml aptamil

The only things she will definitely always eat are Weetabix/porridge and yoghurt. Blooming loves yoghurt to the extent that she gets breathy and excited if you mention it.

DS is poorly with tonsillitis so I haven’t been sweating anything food related today. Here is our ‘sick day’ menu:

B - toast and jam
L - peanut butter sandwich, banana, oaty bar
D - tuna, pesto and broccoli pasta (only a few mouthfuls) and a pouch of puréed banana, mango and blueberry (ate all)

3 beakers of toddler oat milk and a beaker of water.

Today mine had:

Banana, cup of milk.

Piece of chocolate

Porridge with raspberries.

Cheese sandwich, handful of tortilla chips, apple.

2 kinder card biscuits.

Sausage, chips, peas, ketchup, yoghurt.

He ate everything but I held back the fruit a bit as his tummy has been a bit upset.

Essie274 · 27/04/2024 20:42

DS almost 2, teething and sad:

B - choc chip brioche roll with a bit of cashew butter on it, followed by rice krispies and a lick of banana
S - apple (whole) and apple puree pouch from the fridge
L - Pasta with spinach, peas, garlic, cream cheese, herbs (but not from his bowl at the table, only whilst sitting on my lap on the sofa eating from my fork/bowl between sobs)
S - half an oat bar
D - Chicken fajitas (he gave it a go, sobbed a bit then just chewed on some raw pepper slices)
S - greek yoghurt ice pop x2

Essie274 · 27/04/2024 20:43

Also 7 billion breastfeeds. We had so nearly weaned in the daytime and then these (3!!) bloody teeth

MummySleepDeprived · 27/04/2024 21:39

3 in growth spurt

Breakfast 1: Granola w/ berries and yogurt
Breakfast 2: egg, avocado on cheese toast with some fried mushrooms and tomatoes (the planned breakfast he couldn't wait for)

Snack: cucumbers and hash brown and watered down green smoothie (aka dinosaur juice)

Skipped lunch but ate a lot earlier

Snack: apple, cheese and bread

Dinner: butter chicken, rice, yogurt and cucumber

Dessert: Bit of soreen (which he thinks is a brownie and I haven't corrected)

SweatpantPotato · 28/04/2024 01:23

2.5 year old . Eats the same exact same every day 😭 (Autism and ARFID)

Breakfast : pack of prawn cocktail crisps and 8oz aptamil first milk.

Snack : ella melt puffs and sips of water

Lunch : 6 breadsticks and a small banana, 8 oz aptamil

Snack : same as morning snack

Dinner : 2 packs of prawn cocktail crisps, a small banana, 8 oz aptamil

we are under the care of a dietician so hopefully things will improve soon

Keep putting plain meals out alongside his safe meals each time (such as dry cheerios, toast with fully melted/not visible butter and no crusts, pasta with butter and finely grated cheese, bowls of separated veg each dinner time.
Don't put pressure on.him to try them but just keep putting the food there to make it more familiar

kikisparks · 28/04/2024 07:00

Yesterday:

B- bran flakes with oat milk
S- croissant and strawberries
L- lentil soup (tried and didn’t like, even though she had same one before and loved it) chips, beans, bread and peas. We were at a cafe and bought these as knew DD would likely eat some.
S- bit of Easter chocolate
D- scrambled tofu on toast. Cucumber and tomato on plate which she ate loads of on Wednesday but didn’t touch yesterday!

Porridgeislife · 28/04/2024 07:06

Refused Weetabix but ate a banana and a Babybel.

Babycino and 3 pieces of bread.

Another banana before her nap and a cup of milk. Campaigned for more cheese. Ate yoghurt with berries for lunch.

Refused afternoon snack.

Then devoured a (relatively) large bowl of pasta and bolognese, then a large bowl of orzo, veg and pasta for dinner.

Essie274 · 28/04/2024 21:02

GoodnightAdeline · 28/04/2024 21:07

Oaty bar
Roast pork dinner with carrots and peas
2 weetabix with oat milk and strawberries mashed in
4 beakers of follow on milk and 1 beaker of water

Ankylo · 28/04/2024 21:23

Weetabix with whole milk
Cornflakes and spelt puffs from his snack pot
Slice of ham as he requested
Cheese on toast
A bite of an apple
3 smarties
A handful veggie crisps
Offered a banana but ate none!
Roast dinner - ate the carrots and pork only

Jessb2021a · 28/04/2024 21:37

DS 23 month old:

Breakfast : raisins, pumpkin seeds, bowl of cheerios
Snack : Pom bears, half banana, biscuit
Lunch : Cheese, oatcake, banana bread, cucumber slices
Snack: apple, 2 rice cakes
Dinner : salmon fish cake, chips, peas, sweetcorn
Dessert : 2 strawberries, 4 raspberries

Helpful thread! I find it hard thinking of new things to try! He hates yoghurt, most vegetables and porridge

Scirocco · 28/04/2024 21:38

Today was a road trip (400+ miles by car), so it was not great, foodwise.

Breakfast - a blueberry mini muffin, watermelon and water. (If you can't eat junk for breakfast on holiday, when can you?)

Snack - apple, blackcurrants and grapes

Lunch - cauliflower and kale macaroni cheese (nicer than it sounds, does well kept in a thermos-type container... DC likes it warm but not hot, anyway), water

Snack - just water was acceptable, everything else was deemed terrible (getting cranky)

Dinner - everything was deemed terrible except the tomato that was carefully picked out of my salad.

Snack - water only, again.

ecossegirl91 · 28/04/2024 21:51

NearlyHeadlessNick · 28/04/2024 22:23

3 year old:
B: Cornflakes
cup of milk
L: 2 slices of leftover pizza from last night's tea and a banana
S: orange, a biscuit, milk. Lunch was early before swimming so a biggish snack.
D: lentil and vegetable soup, pitta and cucumber

ToddlerMama89 · 29/04/2024 20:07

I love that this post is still going and that it’s been helpful for others!

My little guy was a bit of a fuss pot today but did pretty well in the end:

B: 1 Weetabix with milk, ground seeds & ground almonds (about 5 spoonfuls then refused despite saying he was hungry as soon as he got up and requesting Weetabix… 🙈), strawberries (all)
S: Crepe with jam (all)
L: Pizza quesadilla with hidden grated carrot (ate half), grapes, blueberries & cucumber served but all refused
S: Grapes & blueberries leftover from lunch + a strawberry (ate all)
D: Courgette, leek & broccoli risotto (all), peas (refused), melon & yoghurt for pudding (all)

OP posts:
Yourethebeerthief · 29/04/2024 20:55

2 and a half

Breakfast: Cheerios

Snack: banana

Lunch: humous wraps (refused), crackers, strawberries, cheese, dried apricots, yoghurt

Dinner: two helpings of tuna pasta with grated cheese followed by a hot chocolate

Scirocco · 29/04/2024 21:35

Breakfast: Oatcakes and fruit, milk
Snack: yoghurt
Lunch: Bread, water (this sounds terrible... DC was given a cheese salad sandwich, apple and biscuit, and offered a jacket potato with toppings as an alternative, but they just picked all the fillings out of the sandwich, scraped off the butter to the best of their ability and ate the bread...)
Snack: mixed berries, water
Dinner: Jamican jerk chicken with hidden and not-so-hidden veg (peppers, onion, tomato, sweet potato, sweetcorn) and rice, low sugar homemade mini muffin, water
Pre-bed: milk

We're going through a phase of not eating much, which is a bit frustrating. Managed 2 portions of fruit and about 4 of veg, so that's ok, I guess.
