Breast milk jewellery- cute or wierd?!

Okay.... so I can't decide if this is cute or WIERD.

But..... I am currently bf and drawing to the end of the journey- maybe another month or 2. I feel really sad about giving up but I know it's time.

I saw some breast milk jewellery where they use resin to make a pearl looking stone out of breast milk.

I thought maybe this would be a cute keepsake... if not to wear then maybe just a little heart shaped one to keep in a special box.

Thoughts on this? Cute? wierd?

Also- do you know of any other ideas for breastfeeding keepsakes/ souvenirs?

Can’t believe people are comparing breastmilk to toenails and discharge, as if they provide nutrition and can keep a species alive.
Honestly OP, I don’t think there’s anything weird about it. Personally, I have found breastfeeding such a significant experience in my life, one that I feel extremely honoured to have had. It is so beautiful and spiritual, the power of a woman’s body is incredible and I think we should celebrate it.

I really dislike how a couple of the vehement BF mums on here are getting nasty now…

I'm a huge advocate of live and let live. If it's not hurting anyone else who cares? It makes some people happy, others think it's weird. You don't need to tell anyone what it is, especially if they're the type to judge because they can't see that other people might like something different to them.

People are giving their opinions. But some people (you in particular) are dominating the thread with offensive and silly comments

The woman I know who makes it and chucks it all into one canister, is ‘a proper place’.

However gaudy I find the BM jewellery pictured on this thread, and how much I wouldn’t do it with my own BM, I am actually horrified that this woman does this. She seems to think it’s the norm with makers for reasons of practicality and that no one could prove it anyway. She also makes things with ashes, albeit ‘only’ pet.

They won't be all like that.

If you really want one then, make sure you do your homework.

No, she wanted validation. She was always going to buy that jewellery.

Having read the thread, I think for some women breastfeeding gives them some superior validation. It’s a medal of sorts. What a shame that their growing, thriving children don’t provide the sufficient validation they need for that.

Breastfeeding does seem to engulf some women in a way that I can’t explain. They’re defined by it, gush about it a lot, and have a lot of their own identity attached to it. For me I didn’t give it much thought at the time and certainly not since. It wasn’t a life-changing moment, I didn’t particularly like it, it was endured and then gladly moved on from, it certainly didn’t define or in anyway have a bearing on my relationship with my kid. I wonder what it is that causes the fanaticism.

I have a breastmilk ring. You would never know what it was and I love it. I would have been totally grossed out by this in the past but I liked the idea when it came to it and wear it every day.

My last post was pensive but actually, on reading it back, it did come across a bit more mocking than intended.

I wouldn't say I was engulfed by it. Its part of my journey. Got such a good bond with my son. And before anyone starts not saying you can't get a bond with formula. Just I love the way he looks at me and smiles. So cute
