And how old are they?

Just curious

When I was young i had a bath once a week on a Sunday at school age until I was old enough to shower independently.

My 4 week old has had one proper bath but is wiped down with cotton wool as and when needed

How often are you bathing your kids?

I have 3 in primary school and give them a bath every night, mainly because they're very sporty and have sports clubs during lunch and after school. They can get really stinky! During the holidays, especially in colder weather, I can stretch it to every other day. Never gone longer than that without though because they’d genuinely smell

Onlinemum22 · 16/03/2022 19:09

I have an almost 8 year old, and he's been bathed nearly every day of his life.
Kids get grubby and germy

RestingPandaFace · 16/03/2022 19:10

Age 5 twice a week and a shower after swimming, although obviously if he’s mucky I’ll give him a shower in between. He had very bad eczema and daily baths made it worse so we cut it back

He certainly doesn’t have waxy ears or dirty nails, and most certainly doesn’t smell!

Uniform which was also mentioned, we have 6 full sets and gets a clean one every day. I honestly don’t think he’s ever come home in something re-wearable. Sometimes he doesn’t even make it out the door in one set - hence having six!

The only time any of mine bathe daily is when dd2's eczema is bad, otherwise it's 3 or 4 times a week.

IrishMama2015 · 16/03/2022 19:17

Shower and hair wash 2/3 times a week. A 'sink wash' the other 5 nights where we do face, neck and hands. Uniform off straight after school into home clothes and still change uniform 3 times a week or more due to mud/paint/glitter etc. Fresh socks after school also so 2 pairs of socks a day

whoatethecake · 16/03/2022 19:20

I have a 2,4,5
They get bathed every night after tea then straight into bed (if we are out or busy they will miss a night ) it's just Easier to bath them then try to wipe them after they've had tea and ice cream for desert !!! 😂
(4&5 year old are disabled so they eat like a 1yo would hence the mess!!!)

DC1 is 4 and is usually washed twice a week, generally one long bath on a weekend and one very quick shower before bed mid-week. Rarely she may have more if needed obviously like particularly messy play or something. DC2 is 5 months and is bathed once a week, unless theres any poosplosions hah but luckily he hasn't had many so far tbh, DC1 had way more.

Violetmo0n · 16/03/2022 19:27

3 year old, every night.

breadedchicken · 16/03/2022 19:28

My kids are 5 and 7. Up until Christmas, give or take, i bathed them every single night of their lives. Partially because they were dirty after the day but also because they love the bath. Nowadays i let them say no to a bath if they don't feel like it but wouldn't let them go more than 3 days . I only wash my daughters hair once a week though and that's after her swimming lesson.

Goldbar · 16/03/2022 19:31

4 yo. 3-4 times a week. If we're having a slow day and I'm fed up, I'll put DC in the bath for an hour or so during the day with some toys, bath crayons and containers and just keep topping up with warm water. DC finds baths soothing so enjoys this.

Favourodds · 16/03/2022 19:33

I love how passionate the every day bathers get about this stuff. Absolutely furious with the occasional bathers.

Flubadubba · 16/03/2022 19:36

2.5 year old, every night. Occasionally if we are very busy, and DC is super tired, we'll skip a night (but that is rare)

MrsMiddleMother · 16/03/2022 19:37

3 year old 2-3 times a week
3 month old once a week

aylis · 16/03/2022 19:38

Bath or shower twice a week, 6 years old. Used to be every day as a baby and toddler as it was part of her routine but twice a week is plenty in colder weather, hair (long long hair, bane of my life) washed each time. In the summer it’s pretty much daily showers though or at least alternate evenings as she is generally filthy at the end of the day

Contrary to apparently popular belief, not showering doesn’t mean not washing.

lavenderfine · 16/03/2022 19:41

Every 2-3 days for DS3
Twice a week ish for newborn DD, she has dry skin and the bath doesn't help.
Both are obviously bathed if they're dirty but DS isn't the messy kind tbh

Strokethefurrywall · 16/03/2022 19:44

I live in tropical climate and my kids bathe/shower about 3 times a week (10&8).
Most of the rest of the evenings they're in the pool or the sea so I just can't get worked up about doing it more often!

Ginger1982 · 16/03/2022 19:46

DS4 has a bath pretty much every night. Hair washed roughly every other night.

StrongerOrWeaker · 16/03/2022 19:47

Once a week. Uniform only gets changed when dirty, which could be after one, two or three days.

Fluffruff · 16/03/2022 19:47

4 and 7 and they’re bathed every night. Maybe mine are extra mucky but they often have pen/paint on their hands and arms, muck under finger nails etc.!

Easymeasy · 16/03/2022 19:49

Not furious just disgusted that some people (serious skin conditions aside) think it is acceptable to bathe/shower their children once or twice a week. It is down to laziness and their own lack of hygiene. A 12 year old should be bathing daily and he is not because he has learned from his parents. He definitely smells.

Ajl46 · 16/03/2022 19:49

Toddler - twice a week with a hair wash both times. Newborn - once so far!

TheLovelinessOfDemons · 16/03/2022 19:51

They now bath or shower themselves every other day. The 2 still at home are 14 and 10.

I agree. It might be why other cultures think the English smell!

There was/ is a word for it where my SIL grew up apparently- the Pommie wash.

Aria2015 · 16/03/2022 19:53

6 yo and 1yo. I shower them every evening. Takes me 5 minutes. The only time I skip it is if they're unwell.

Trinacham · 16/03/2022 19:55

Just leaving this here for the 'clean freaks' to read (I shower everyday!) but it isn't beneficial to bathe young children everyday.
