@lionsmum Tommy has 2-3 naps per day, if he's in his bouncer he'll tend to sleep for 30 minutes, he would sleep longer but something (usually the dog) always wakes him. I've started putting him into his cot to nap instead now, he'll then nap for at least an hour, sometimes 2.

Jwl45 · 17/05/2021 18:47

@lionsmum Elsi gets up around 8... she is ready for a nap at about half 10. Will either sleep in bouncer or falls asleep after a cuddle. If we're out on a walk she will nap longer in pram. She has been napping about 5pm. The last few days ( Don't know what that's about) which makes her go down a little later but she's not too grouchy or overtired then. I don't take her upstairs at all for naps... sofa(fully cushioned up and someone with her), my shoulder (I love cuddle time and an excuse for a sit down and ignore the chores lol) or bouncer.

Hi all 👋🏻 Haven't been on here for ages and I can't believe how old they all are now and how many milestones we're all hitting! Our lo was 6 months on Tuesday 😊 She's very good at rolling but will only sit /stand with support. Anything and everything goes in her mouth including her feet. She's found she has a very loud voice and loves to use it! We have one bottom tooth poking through 😍. Tried some solids (broccoli and carrot) but she wasn't a fan and just pushed them around her mouth rather than swallowing so we're trying again next week. She's just met her grandparents for the first time today!! It was such a lovely moment ♥ We go to a baby signing group weekly and regularly walk with a friend I've made through NCT. I'm a couple of kg heavier than I was, and still have my linea negra but I don't mind at all. Currently on Sertraline and having counselling for PND but feeling loads better. Lo sleeps from between 7 and 8pm to 6am but sometimes wakes earlier (4.30am this morning!). Normally has 3-4 daytime naps of 25-40 mins, very occasionally 90mins, normally on me, won't go in the crib but will nap in the buggy and car. Next on the shopping list - cot, highchair and jumperoo!
Think that's everything 😂

tigerbreadandtea · 20/05/2021 20:12

Hi all! Every single mum friend has said to get the cheap IKEA highchair. Easy to clean unlike the more expensive padded ones. My little one is sitting up for a few seconds unaided. She loves her jumperoo / we got it cheap on Facebook marketplace. She's waking just once in the night now.

Kj1010 · 20/05/2021 21:01

Evening all my lb has 2 teeth thought it was 1 but nope 2 he is 6 months on monday loves his weetabix with banana or strawberry generally naps for 30 mins wakes up has a bit of play time then will chew on a bit of toast or I do him blueberries loves them like crazy then will watch a bit of tv then back to a nap like anything between 10 to 30 mins wakes bottle again and te same over playtime etc he generally goes down between 9/10 but has been a bit later like 10 /11 I think coz of his teeth sometimes wakes for a bottle around 3/4 then back to sleep till 7 /7.30 and then again repeat he loves his jumparoo now got it off market place for 20.00 couldnt justify paying 80.00 everything washed and sanitised he is getting bored of the teddies teethers etc so gonna look for more toys for him he only watches a little telly I dont like him to be in front of it the whole day it's going so fast these milestones its unreal before we know it they will be turning one madness

Kj1010 · 22/05/2021 20:01

@Jwl45 yes mine likes the mango to indo sometines use the ella's pouches but mainly wen we are out and about otherwise it's all home made

Hi everyone. Hope you're all well.
Bath seats. My next purchase. We are outgrowing our little nuby bath.....😢 how time flies.... anyway, does anyone have any recommendations?
Also.... weaning... mash... does anyone use butter to make their mash?

Kj1010 · 24/05/2021 17:17

Hiya @jwl45 I dont do bath seats etc I do have a bath mat though to stop the sliding and just help support him and yes I put a tiny knob of butter in mash

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 24/05/2021 17:38

I have the Angelcare bath seat, we've been using it since birth and didnt bother with a baby bath. It's on Amazon.

I've used butter in mash, also given my LO cheese and he seems to love that. We are slowly fazing in dairy @Jwl45.

Can I ask, how many meals a day are you guys giving your baby? We currently have one fixed at are 11am (fruit and porridge) and sometimes a second one of mashed veg in the evening but the evening one is still very much experimenting with taste and flavour rather than to fill him up.

SandIcy · 24/05/2021 18:01

Hey I just found this thread! I hope I can join. My DS was born on the 13th of December so he's 5 months old. We haven't started weaning yet but he can sit independently for about 30 seconds. We're going to start weaning him in the next couple of weeks

Kj1010 · 24/05/2021 18:14

@pinktruffle my little boy has three meals so to start with he has a weetabix with either banana strawberries apples pears etc then lunch I generally do a fruit puree today he had banana pear and orange was bloody lovely tasting I try all his foods and then at dinner he will generally have what we have chicken rice pasta veg cheese etc my boy is a foodie for sure been weaning him on food since 4 1/2 months and slowly adding he also has between 4/5 bottles a day to at 7 ounces

Kj1010 · 24/05/2021 18:16

@sandlcy welcome hun my little one was due the 15th but had him the 7th december he is 6 months today

OP posts:
SandIcy · 24/05/2021 18:47

We're going to start weaning soon but were not sure if we're going to give lo pouches or do blw.

His nighttime sleep is good but his naps are awful. He will only sleep in his pushchair on a walk and as soon as we get home he wakes up and then he's overtired by bedtime and wants to sleep at 5:30! He then screams the whole time he's in the bath and when we're getting him dressed, he's super chill anyother time though and he rarely cries.

Jwl45 · 24/05/2021 18:51

@sandlcy Hi. 👋🏻welcome to the group. A mat could be handy. I have a roll top bath so not sure I would reach 😅
Well we use clover and I thought a little would do no harm.
We are on 2 meals a day at the minute. Example- milk 8 am... breakfast at 8.30. Milk 11 ish, lunch 12.30 will be a pouch Ella's kitchen - pureed veg, stew type or we have since tried macaroni cheese. She will then have milk 2 pm 5pm ... so her bottles are 3 hourly usually. Although today she had a long nap..(. I think teeth were bothering her early hours) so feeding is a bit out the window. Bottles usually 5 of 6 oz. Sometimes 4 if had later etc and fallen asleep!
Have started introducing milk etc in yoghurt..or it was in one of the breakfasts I bought the other week.

Kj1010 · 24/05/2021 20:33

My little man loves either weetabix or a bit of readybrek I make with his milk and add a bit of fruit his feeds last couple days have been a bit off tbh like today he has had 3 7 ounce bottles and 4 ounces in his breakfast doesnt seem interested in any now spitting it out dunno if it's the food or the teeth or both

@SandIcy I have a baby girl who was born 2nd Dec.

I was planning on waiting until exactly 6months to start weaning but I made a chicken dinner Sunday and it felt but mean us excluding her haha so puréed her some carrot and she ate it up and seemed to enjoy it! Yesterday I added some broccoli into it and she liked that too.

Going to start introducing some baby porridge on a morning then continue with the eve meal with us of puréed veg. I have got myself prepared last couple days and prepared carrot, broccoli, butternut squash, pear, and strawberries/blueberries/raspberries and will make up some cauliflower and sweet potato too. Just made up ice cube trays so can pop them out to make mini meals for her.

I feel little emotional every time I pack away the small sizes she outgrows things. She’s still comfortably in 3-6mths now tho and I still have to roll up arms and legs! And I’ve only just moved her to size 3 nappies. She weighed 14lb1oz when weighed her yesterday. I love her at this stage it’s my favourite but little sad to think as she’s my last I won’t be pushing a tiny baby in pram anymore or watching over a newborn in Moses basket.

She almost sitting can sit for about 3secs but then wobbles over as just wants to eat her feet haha

Kj1010 · 26/05/2021 13:17

Afternoon all what do you do to entertain your babies my lb Is 6 months and he just gets bored so quickly and has been just constant whinging whether I hold him sit him on his play mat or in his jumparoo I know he is teething but it doesnt seem that anything I do entertains him and I'm feeling guilty I dont really have the money for clubs not that any are open in my area and the parks are a disgrace so cant even take him there just at a loss as what I can do with him feel like a bad mum at times as I get so stressed I just think have a nap little man

I love coming on here & seeing everyone's updates.

We put Tommy in his cot last week & had 3 days of perfect sleep, down at 7pm, bottle at 11pm, then slept till 7am, however the past few days he's been irritable around 3am!! He sucks on his bottle & after 5 odd minutes falls asleep again, but is barely drinking 1oz so he isn't hungry.

Weaning is going well, he is really showing an interest in food now, I've mainly been using pouches, either Ella's or Sainsbury's. When he likes the food he is eating an entire pouch, when he doesn't like it he literally gags & then clamps his mouth shut. His favourite so far is sainsbury's banana, pear & prunes mix.

He's also almost sitting unaided too, I don't think it will be long at all before he perfects it, he'll be 6 months on the 2nd.

@Kj1010 my son is getting very easily bored currently, even with a ridiculous amount of toys! He does love his walker still, especially going from room to room. If I cant settle him with toys I put him in his pram & we go out for a walk, he loves looking around

Yellowbeansontoast · 29/05/2021 19:24

@kkr168 yes me too, I love hearing about how everyone else is getting on! Especially as I don't know anyone with a small baby locally.

My LO sometimes does that too - usually it's because his nappy is full!
Have you had any more weaning trouble due to your LO's allergies?

@Kj1010 we've been going to the playground now that my LO can sit, he loves the swings and going down the slide (we support him all the way obviously). He also loves books - he'll sit for 20+ mins being read to!

kkr168 · 30/05/2021 07:56

@Yellowbeansontoast no other allergies as of yet but we've only tried fruits & vegetables so far. Last week the Dr asked us to challenge his milk allergy by switching 1 bottle a day for regular baby milk. He cried for 2 hours straight after drinking it before eventually falling asleep, when he woke he had his prescription milk & projectile vomited everywhere, which he's never done before, he then had awful mucus filled nappies, so the Dr has classed it as a fail. She wants us to try aptimal pepti next which has A small amount of dairy in it, so we shall how he gets on with that.

I've also been weaning him off of his reflux medication, dropping 0.1ml every other day & so far his reflux symptoms haven't returned.
