@tigerbreadandtea my grandad is the only person to comment so far, he said as my other son is almost 18 Tommy will be like an only child & that's not fair on him! I just replied that it's a good job he has plenty of baby cousins to play with because I'm definitely not having any more.

I got back to my pre pregnancy weight pretty quickly but have a few stone to lose, that I was trying to lose before falling pregnant. I hate my body at the moment but can't get motivated to do anything about it, I have signed up for a dance exercise class with a friend which starts at the end of the month, so that's a start I guess!

Jwl45 · 09/05/2021 16:49

A few have told me that we need another to keep Elsi company as her older sisters are 16 and 13. 🤣 a couple have said...the 4th will be a boy!! Anyway, no more babies here (gosh I'd absolutely love it... but am in my 40s! Although dont feel or act it I'm sure!🤣🤣)
Hating my body at the minute, but don't think I can blame baby weight. I blame Xmas weight and the fact that I've eating like a pig on maternity leave. I have had a good few weeks but is my birthday today so have stuffed cake and chocs and a Chinese last night with leftovers for lunch. 🤦🏼‍♀️ tomorrow is a new day with no rain so back to eating well and walking hopefully.

Pinktruffle · 09/05/2021 22:05

Can I ask, are ally our babies grabbing things and putting them in their mouths? I've just read something online that says all babies should be doing this by 4 months but my son isn't. The only thing he puts in his mouth are his fingers. He will hold toys that we give him for a few seconds but usually quickly loses interest and won't grab things even if they are left infront of him. I'm starting to worry there is some development delay.

@Pinktruffle my son does. He's 5.5 months, but I can't remember when it started. He puts everything and anything in his mouth and if he can't bring it with his hand, he'll just bring himself and lick it, sometimes even the floor 🤦
How old is your LO? Have you tried putting tots (teethers etc) in his mouth for him and seeing what he thinks maybe? I wouldn't worry too much just yet, they all develop at such different paces, but if you're worried you could always chat to the HV :)

Kj1010 · 10/05/2021 08:05

Morning @jwl45 happy birthday for yesterday as in regards to body I've hated mine for years even before this pregnancy I just cant seem to get my stomach fat flat I only gained a stone and half o this pregnancy was very careful because I was classed borderline obese anyway but I've lost the pregnancy weight and even 7lb after that still want to lose a stone and half to 2 stone but yes I'm finding it all a bit hard to get motivated I'm still struggling if honest to keep house tody etc. My lo is very demanding when awake and is generally a cat napper during the day so hard to get much done and I dont really get any help

OP posts:
Pinktruffle · 10/05/2021 08:50

@Yellowbeansontoast yeah I put teethers in his mouth and he will happily chew on them but won't hold them himself. If I hand him a toy, he will hold it for a matter of seconds and then drop it. He just doesn't seem interested. He loves his hands and will stare at them and play with them a lot - grabbing his fingers etc and puts them in him mouth but nothing else.

I will give the HV a call. I've been trying to get through this morning but no luck. I have an appointment booked for end of June to have him weighed (this was the closest date they had). I'm going to see if I can speak to someone on the phone but the HV service is pretty poor here so I'm not holding my breath. My LO is 6 months next week.

Kj1010 · 10/05/2021 09:09

@Pinktruffle I really wouldnt be to concerned as babies learn at different rates my lo is 22 weeks today and he finally likes to be on belly now before he would instantly cry but I see mums on here saying how there lo likes belly time etc also only now likes his activitiy mat yes he holds toys now in hand but not for long he gets bored to also remember hv go by what parents put in red book x

Jwl45 · 10/05/2021 09:20

@Kj1010 thank you. Yes I didn't feel I'd put too much on during pregnancy, it was mainly front... but I feel I've used it as an excuse after to just eat lol. I'm probably being a bit hard on myself... I don't actually pig out ... have been walking with pram but need to up a gear. Its been really wet this last week so haven't been out much

@Pinktruffle Elsi didn't hold teethers then and it was a pain if I gave them in night as she couldn't put back in . She can do by now (she is 26 weeks) but we have stopped the dummy for about a week half now and it's great she hasn't asked Well shown she wants it at all. She will pick up her toys, loves tags, doesn't put everything in her mouth. The fact that your little one is interested in his fingers and hands now is a great start I think. Elsi loves her fingers and is fascinated by her toes... she does pull her foot up to her mouth 🤣
I wouldn't worry too much. You'll find maybe that you've put things in front of him one day and he's suddenly picking up and interested. They all develop differently. I also found reading here babies loving tummy time.. Elsi didn't particularly love it. If I'm honest, I found it hard to get her down there to the time that is recommended. Now she's rolling everywhere

Pinktruffle · 10/05/2021 10:04

Thanks ladies, that is reassuring. He did lots of things early - he has been babbling since 7 weeks, he has been sitting with support since 3 months but holding things just hasn't happened. I wanted to start babyled weaning but will have to wait I guess. Mine loves tummy time but isn't rolling yet, though he does try. @Jwl45 mine loves his feet too, he gets so excited when he sees them and will grab them. They are coming closer to his mouth but haven't gone in yet!

I have requested a HV call today so hopefully they will call back and I can talk things through with them. Being a parent doesn't half make you anxious at times!

Jwl45 · 10/05/2021 11:03

@Pinktruffle ah love him. He's just done other things first and early. I'm sure this will come. They're all so different and these "can do this at 4 months. Or should be able to do this at 4 months.. or this at 6 months are guides at the very least, but can be worrying when you don't see your child hitting one of those "targets" A chat with HV will put your mind at ease I'm sure.

Pinktruffle · 10/05/2021 21:14

Thank you all. I spoke to the HV and she did her best to reassure me, thinks he is probably just being lazy. We have an appointment to be weighed at the end of June so they will check him then.

My mental health is really suffering today, I feel a bit taken back by is as I've been fine fromt he day my LO was born but all I want to do today is cry, Ii'm feeling quite hopeless about everything. I dont know where this has come from, I'm hoping it's due to my period which is on it's way next week. I feel like crap.

@Pinktruffle I felt the same last month and then my first proper period kicked in ( was horrendous) and it all made sense. I honestly wouldn't worry about milestones this early. Remember - baby hasnt read the books haha
Lemonelderflower · 11/05/2021 08:52

pink mine wasn’t really hugely interested in toys until recently. He is 5 months next week. If that helps Flowers

Hi @Kj1010 glad your LO is doing so well!
We're 6 months next week and going on our first plane journey on Monday, which I'm terrified of.
LO is now rolling from back to tummy, but can't go the other way yet, or sit unaided. He's amazing with his hands though, he's grabbing everything. We tried him with some apple purée on a pre-loaded spoon today and he did so well, most of it actually went in his mouth! We haven't started weaning him properly yet due to his allergies, but hoping to start soon as his symptoms have been pretty under control lately 🙏

Kj1010 · 15/05/2021 22:20

@Yellowbeansontoast wow I hope ur travel is calm and safe yeah my lb only just started doing it yes loves his hands constantly in his mouth if he ain't looking at them lol ah I am sorry he suffers with allergies and glad you getting them under control I'm jealous your going away bet it's some where nice and warm x

Hi all. Elsi is 27 weeks on Monday. Ga. Is the new sound this week lol. She loves to use her screaming voice, the dribbly voice (the lip vibration one) but its ga ga ga this week! Cute. Rolling is very fast now.... I bought those foam mats from home b as we have oak flooring in the living room so wanted some soft cushioning for her. I have 2 sets... she is off them before I turn round!!!! Can't quite sit unaided... but does love to be on her feet with help.
We are now on 2 meals a day... brekkie and lunch.
If I miss one due to sleeping or whatever and its way too late /close to bottle time.. she has tea, which is usually fruit. We have 2 little teeth on the bottom.
@Kj1010 you know if he's ready for food.... and he obviously is. Sounds like he's super enjoying it. @yellowbeansontoast happy travelling, I'm sure all will be well 😊 x

kkr168 · 16/05/2021 00:14

@Yellowbeansontoast what allergies does your lo have? Mine is allergic to cow's milk, we're awaiting an appointment with a dietitian currently. In the meantime we've been told to be careful with soya but to introduce other known allergens before he turns 1.
The Dr said to try a new food for 3 days before moving onto the next, incase there is a delayed reaction. So far he's tried & loved banana, sweet potato, rusk (reacted to those), apple & hated peas, broccoli, carrots, Weetabix.

I've really struggled to get any food into him for the past 4 days though & he's drinking less milk, I think it's down to teething so hopefully passes soon.

Tommy is 23 weeks now, he can roll both directions, I don't think he's far off sitting un-aided, like @Jwl45 he much prefers being up on his feet. He runs around like crazy in his baby walker, he manoeuvres it so well & loves following the dog all over.

Nov/December babies 2020?
Yellowbeansontoast · 16/05/2021 13:33

@Kj1010 @Jwl45 thank you! It's not anywhere exciting, just going to see my parents and grandparents in the Czech Republic, it'll be the first time they're meeting him!

@kkr168 we're not exactly sure, but he reacts to lots of things through my BM. I'm currently only eating potatoes, chicken, asparagus, watercress, peeled cooked apples and olive oil. He's reacted to everything from fruits, veggies, oils, spices, any kind of grains, meat and even mineral water! 🤯 He's been under paeds the last three months and seen the dietitian many times. At the moment, we're just giving his tummy a break and letting it heal a bit before starting solids, hopefully he'll be able to tolerate some 🤞

Eeek my little boy just cut his first tooth

@Yellowbeansontoast oh waw. It is exciting... I bet they can't wait to meet him. And will be lovely for you too.
@Kj1010 aw fab. Another little milestone. @kkr168 we have had a walker off my auntie, I really need to give it a wipe down and put her in it. I'm sure she'd love it. Gorgeous pic by the way x

kkr168 · 16/05/2021 18:56

Wonderful @Kj1010 they look so cute with their little teeth poking out

What time does everyone's LO's go to bed? Tommy is ready for bed around 6pm, tonight he's had his bath, then tucked up in bed & straight to sleep by 6:40pm. He then wakes around 11pm & 3/4am for a bottle. Yesterday we went to my bil's for a BBQ, he was so mesmerized by seeing other people & stayed awake until we got home at 9pm, he then slept right through! There's no way I could keep him awake on a normal night until 9pm, he literally rubs his eyes, doesn't stop yawning & being generally grumpy as soon as it hits 6pm

Kj1010 · 16/05/2021 20:46

@kkr168 ty not all the way through yet but has poked its head lol my lo normally goes to bed between 9pm and 10 pm and goes through till 6.30 to 7.30an cant seem to get him any earlier but he currently asleep now had been for bout 30 minutes but had to bath him as got in such a mess from his roast dinner so he will probably wake now at about 11ish for bottle and hopefully go straight back to sleep

OP posts:
Jwl45 · 16/05/2021 20:48

@kkr168 Elsi starts rubbing her eyes around 7ish usually. Generally, sleeps for the night between 7 and 8. She's still up tonight as had a later nap as we have been out most of the day.... think the sea air made her tired earlier!

lionsmum · 17/05/2021 09:33

@kkr168 my LO is the same when it comes to being sleepy but ours usually starts around 5pm, so I usually have him bathed before that, has his bottle & is usually asleep by 5:30pm, I have tried to push it back but he just gets upset and really grouchy so I'm just leaving it for now! He sleeps through until about 5 for a bottle then up at 7:30 or thereabouts so I can't ask for much more than that. His daytime naps are limited though.

Do yours go down into their cot during the day or just nap nearby?
