Sls668 · 14/02/2021 14:35

@Glooorb we’ve had that recently too although she seems to get a bit of a fill first then after about 15 minutes starts messing around, she is very funny with it though! I read that it’s normal at this age. We have HV out this week to check her weight though so I’ll see what she says

Strawberries4days · 14/02/2021 15:35

We've been wondering for the past week if there was something wrong with Sophia with the noises she makes. Like a straining sound. But now I think it's a new sound she likes to make every second cause she's laughing one minute then strain sound then laughing again🤷🏼‍♀️ anyone else's baby discovered a strange sound that they continue to do all the time?

GBA123 · 14/02/2021 15:44

@Strawberries4days omg mine makes the most ridiculous sound ever when he’s tired now!! It’s actually embarrassing when I’m putting him in his pram on the drive if neighbours are about as it’s so loud and over dramatic...it’s this intense straining sound and I also feel like he actually shouts at me if I’m dressing him and he doesn’t like it! Glad it’s not just mine lol

@GBA123 it.must be a baby thing they learn! Omg bless him just shouting at everyone 😂 really hope it passes, missing the random babbles she used to do

DressingGown87 · 14/02/2021 16:15

@krissy12 I’ve had quite a few cycles now.

@Strawberries4days 😂 I know they make some strange sounds. High pitch squealing is her new one (sounds like a baby dinosaur), or GGGGG. She seems to have calmed down on the raspberries. @GBA123 we have a loud grunting sound when going to sleep, Or tired. Like a pig. I do wonder what my neighbours think

Mc3209 · 14/02/2021 16:19

Yeah, pterodactyl screams, random grunts, messing on the boob - tick to all.
I can't believe how fast they are growing!

@krissy12 still no sign of getting mine back despite losing some weight so annoyingly I can't book a smear test in, I absolutely don't want to have any hormones to fix it so I m going to give it a couple more months and hopefully I can get a blood test

krissy12 · 14/02/2021 18:40

@1990shopefulftm why can you not have a smear on due mine in a couple of months I think. I'm the same I don't want to go back on my pill until I get it even then I'm reluctant it took 8 months for me to get my period when I came off the pill to ttc

blood tests also arent reliable unless you have regular 28 day cycles. I had blood tests when ttc to check hormone levels and the month we conceived was the month we were told I had low progesterone levels and hadntt ovulated and was referred to the fertility clinic. it turned out I ovulated wayyy later than day 14 because of longer cycles so the blood tests werent accurate

1990shopefulftm · 14/02/2021 21:30

@krissy12 I was told because the result could be affected if I had a smear test on my period. I was just going to ask them to check if my prolactin and thyroid hormones were normal just because I know people in my family have had issues with those in their 20s and that could mess with periods, I know I probably wouldn't get them to agree to check my progesterone when I don't want more kids or have worrying symptoms.

DressingGown87 · 14/02/2021 21:35

@Mc3209 hope the snow has melted a little for you, and the weather has picked up. I know they are growing so fast, can’t believe I have a 4 month old! Can I ask, is you scar ok? I’ve started to have some pain around mine.

@krissy12 I had to cancel mine last year, as they said they couldn’t do it until after my first cycle. Still not managed to get it booked in (lack of appointments). It’s so frustrating when the levels come back wrong, I had years of that. Glad you got your little miracle, without having to go through the clinic.

Mc3209 · 14/02/2021 23:05

@DressingGown87 my scar is a little uncomfortable still, but much better than it was. I had a lot of sensitivity and a numb patch, both of which are gone. I still wear underwear that go over the scar, I still find it uncomfortable to have anything sitting on it (ashamed to admit I am still wearing maternity leggings, and my post partum jeans have a stretchy compressive band instead of a normal waist). And it's a bit sore if baby kicks it.

GhostWorld · 15/02/2021 08:40

@DressimgGown87 have you managed to help Paige relax in the car? We've moved house across country and had a 2 hour drive, 50 minutes of that ds was screaming. We stopped twice so I could feed him and I ended up in the back although it didn't make a difference. We were both completely emotionally exhausted by the time we got here, it was hell. Weve got an even longer journey to do in a months time and I'm already feeling anxious about it!!

DressingGown87 · 15/02/2021 08:52

@Mc3209 thank you. It was ok, but just recently started hurting, will keep and eye on it. I think it’s from constantly doing the rocking motions. Don’t worry, my underwear is also still resembling Bridget Jones too, I feel uneasy putting anything sitting on it. We will get there.

@GhostWorld aww Happy New Home, hope you settle in. We haven’t done many journeys due to my anxiety / avoiding going out. But the ones I have done have been ok, I just distract her massively before we set off, with toys, and her bunny. So she has comforts, something to play with / hold. I also try and time it with her needing a sleep and not being overtired. So we leave as an when, not to a time. Sorry to hear you had a tough time, it’s so draining, and distracting. But when she gets into that mindset there was never any turning back. I still get anxious thinking of getting in a car with her, but we just do relatively small
Journeys. So completely understand. Maybe if you do little trips round the block DS will get use to it.

I've not posted in a while...life has been busy!

My LO is 14weeks now and is in size 6-9m clothes. Just ridiculous Shock

He suffering with eczema and I'm struggling to find something that works for him. Poor thing. I do worry it's sore and itchy.

Nap times are better but I've still not managed to get him to nap on his own. He still likes to be held.

krissy12 · 15/02/2021 10:20

thanks that's good to know about the smear I'll keep that in mind.

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt have you tried an oatmeal bath to help with the eczema

1990shopefulftm · 15/02/2021 11:35

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt

1990shopefulftm · 15/02/2021 11:36

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn try oilatum , dermol or doublebase otherwise you might need some weak steroid cream. We re using 6-9 months clothes too but I recon he's a week maybe 2 away from needing 9-12 months.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 15/02/2021 11:56

@1990shopefulftm we've been prescribed epaderm, cetraben and hydrocortisone. None have worked. The parrafin irritated his skin more. Sad

Not tried oatmeal. Worth a shot!

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn · 15/02/2021 11:56

Oh and childs farm...

1990shopefulftm · 15/02/2021 16:27

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn

have you tried changing which washing powder you use? also if you put hydrocortisone on, give it 10 minutes and then put an emollient on top that can help it work better. my eczema is allergy-related but its really trail and error to figure out the cause.

DressingGown87 · 15/02/2021 17:06

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesn aww I hope he’s ok. My sister found doublebase helped my niece as a baby, she also found that the carpets where causing it to flare up. Paiges 3-6 are looking quite snug, but I wasn’t sure if I was just shrinking them in the dryer 😂

Mc3209 · 15/02/2021 17:44

@DressingGown87 I am pretty sure I shrank few in the drier too 🤣
Hope your scar pain gets better soon

You never realise how helpful this thread is until you haven’t checked it for a while. What a relief to realise all the things going on is what everyone else is experiencing too!

My LO is super distracted on the boob at the moment, pulling on and off as well as talking all the way through. And we’ve also been having the issue with day time naps - today it took 27 minutes to get him down for a 7 minute nap 😩

I stopped using the Huckleberry app as I was sick of tracking everything but after an hour of screaming yesterday, I went back to it and realised how much I was missing the tired signs until it was too late and he was overtired. We’ve managed a full day of going down for naps with minimal effort just by starting to calm down with cuddles 20 minutes before the app says he’s due a sleep. I feel like a new woman 😅

Does anyone know when you’re supposed to see the HV again after the first initial couple? I’m not sure if I’m supposed to be booking in at certain months or?

Mc3209 · 15/02/2021 20:22

@FirstSurprise001 here I had a phone appointment at 3 months, then will have another phone appointment at 4 months, and then face to face development check at 8 months.

OP posts:
1990shopefulftm · 15/02/2021 20:48

@FirstSurprise001 I had a phone appointment at six weeks and not expecting to hear from them again until 9-12 months for a development check.
