Oscar's general pattern is a nap in the morning, afternoon and late afternoon. Then a last feed around 9-10pm and he will go down for the night, waking at 3-4am for his night feed, and then 6-7am for the early morning feed. Though tonight the routine has gone out of the window and he is up already at midnight for a feed. Here's to hoping that he will sleep through the night rather than waking again at 3-4am...I'm so tired :c

How is this huckleberry app? Is the free version with getting out if it only good with the subscription?

Mc3209 · 19/01/2021 03:51

@Glooorb free version is good, it still gives you a sweet spot. Don't bother with subscription unless you want to.

I am just so fed up of constant tracking of everything. I feel like my kid can't fart without me scrambling for my phone to log it.

@Mc3209 why dont you stop tracking for a bit and see how you go. I dont track anything. for daytime naps I tend to go by wake windows and sleepy ques sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt

SamK93 · 19/01/2021 17:34

@krissy12 I'm exactly the same, I don't track anything. Noah's 15 weeks old in 2 days time, I stick to a bedtime routine with bath and bottle etc around 8-9pm depending on last nap of the day. Daytime naps are all by wake window and sleepy ques. Usually 4 naps a day between 8am and 8pm. I'm not on a strict routine but he can't go longer than 1.5/2hours of being awake, last couple of weeks have been so busy and hard with the older two doing remote schooling I haven't had a minute to myself lol.

krissy12 · 19/01/2021 19:08

@SamK93 we are the same with bedtime routine and timing although I think tonight is going to be a nightmare naps have been all over the place today and hes been sleeping on and off the past few hours 🙈

Has anyone suffered lumps in breasts? I had a massive one last Sunday which I eventually managed to shift with baby's help, and now my other breast has a lump... I get so anxious when this happens because I worry it's going to progress into mastitis and I can't shift the blockage. The anxiety overwhelms me...

Sls668 · 19/01/2021 21:57

@Glooorb I assume you mean from breastfeeding? It’s happened to me a couple of times, the first one was really painful and I was so nervous it’d turn into mastitis. I use a wide tooth comb in the shower or bath and it seems to just move it straight on. On the first one which was worse, I had a red hot bath, massages it with an electric toothbrush (apparently the vibration helps!) and then brushed it with the comb. After a couple of good feeds, it seemed to clear up fine

Glooorb · 19/01/2021 22:40

@Sls668 yeah, like a blocked milk duct... I'll try a wide tooth comb - haven't tried that one!
Did you suffer from the blocked duct during the night? It started in the afternoon for me and even now it's not shifted... not sure if I should wake baby up to feed more, or pump, or do nothing, just give my baby his regular night feed when he wakes?

Mc3209 · 20/01/2021 04:32

@Glooorb I'd do what @Sls668 suggested and maybe pump if your little one is not hungry. Hope you manage to shift it!

I am officially done with Huckleberry or any other stuff that imposes day sleep routine, it's not working for us. I am going back to Possums Program and just accepting that my baby doesn't need much sleep during the day. He is not grizzly, usually quite a settled kid even if he has micro/no naps. It was so liberating not having to track everything 🥳

Sls668 · 20/01/2021 09:04

@Glooorb I think they do usually start in the night. I think it’s because she feeds for comfort in the night so she’ll start feeding then fall asleep quickly so the breast isn’t getting drained. Through the night and first thing in the morning if there’s a ‘full’ side I tend to feed off that one even if it’s the other ones ‘turn’ just to prevent blockages. I get a lot of relief from the first morning feed!
Every now and then if I’m really full and uncomfy on one side I’ll feed her extra to relieve it, it’s always worth a go but I’ve never managed to unblock anything just from her feeding alone

krissy12 · 20/01/2021 10:33

@Mc3209 I follow takingcarababies on Instagram she has a website aswell she has lots of tips on daytime sleeping

FirstSurprise001 · 20/01/2021 15:01

We got our first tummy to back roll today at just under 12 weeks!! Honestly get so excited every time he does something new now 🤩😅

Strawberries4days · 20/01/2021 16:09

@FirstSurprise001ahhhh congratulations 😍 it's so exciting when they do something new, you think they're a little genius haha

Glooorb · 20/01/2021 17:54

@Sls668 @Mc3209 still no luck... lump is now past 24 hours... I do hope it shifts tomorrow. Online they say most lumps should shift by 48 hours :c but it's so anxiety inducing, I hate it!!

DressingGown87 · 20/01/2021 18:59

@krissy12 thanks for that page, will take a look. We’ve had 3 30 minute naps today... progress!

@Glooorb hope it passes soon.

@FirstSurprise001 awww congratulations!! Such a clever boy!!

DressingGown87 · 20/01/2021 20:26

Anyone any tips on decongestant? Paige is quite bunged up (sounds like sleeping next to a rhino). We have a saline spray which works, and snuffle babe which I put on her feet and chest. In the bathroom with me whilst I have a hot shower. But these ware off in the night, come morning she struggles have her first feed because she is so congested. I got a calpol plug in, and that seem to work, but replaces the pads every night is going to cost me an arm and a leg. But I’m willing too if that’s the only thing that helps, but seeing if anyone has any tips.

Glooorb · 21/01/2021 04:57

@DressingGown87 how about one of those nasal aspirators? I had purchased one but not needed to use so far, so not sure of efficacy h it maybe worth a try? Do you know whether she is bunged up because of boogers or more like an nose passage inflammation?

My blocked duct may be shifted - thank goodness. Touch wood I'm not celebrating early - the lump
Is still there but it feels softer so hopefully it is on its way out... 🤞🏻

Glooorb · 21/01/2021 04:58

@DressingGown87 and maybe baby massage or acupressure could be helpful too?

krissy12 · 21/01/2021 09:14

@DressingGown87 I havent had to use it myself yet but I am in a mum Facebook group and everyone raves about the asda little Angel's vapour bubble bath

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 21/01/2021 13:11

I couldn't get the app to work without it telling me I needed to pay...

Really struggling with naps (or lack of them). I feel like I'm rubbish atm. Can't even pick up on when my baby is tired so we just hit a wall of exhaustion. Our days are chaos and home schooling is stressing me out!

GBA123 · 21/01/2021 13:43

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt how much sleep are they getting during the day and where do you usually try and get them to sleep?

Mc3209 · 21/01/2021 14:06

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt you don't need to do that questionnaire, that's for paid version. Once you open the app, just start tracking (bottom left button (+) ) on the homepage, and it will give you a sweet spot for naps at the top. It can send you a notification as well if you enable those.

OP posts:
krissy12 · 21/01/2021 14:15

@Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt dont feel rubbish its stressful. if your baby isnt showing sleepy cues sometimes mine doesn't try to follow wake windows instead so for a baby between 3 to 4 months the recommended wake window is between 75 min to 2 hours which basically means over this time babies are too stimulated and need a nap. so normally if I can I try to get my lo sleep after hes been awake for an hour and 45 min to 2 hours.

Monkeyseesmonkeydoesnt · 21/01/2021 15:38

Thank you all. I've got the app working now!

Trying a nap now 🤞

We're upstairs in crib with room a bit darker. Hopefully it works.

5yr old is tucked up in bed next to me playing on his kindle Smile

Usually he falls asleep grumpily in my arms as he's over tired.

Honestly, I feel like a first time mum again. I blame lockdown.
