This is such a bitchy website

I have had enough of the bitches on this site. I know there are plenty of nice, genuine mumsnetters too but too many bitches. I am ending my membership.

I thought it was banter. This thread is getting scary now.

sarahgg · 09/09/2007 00:35

Aitch, have little sense of humour this time of night, sorry, no offence meant. But really, what's in a name?

UCM · 09/09/2007 00:37

AAAdddums, can't bleeding spell it.

Please stay. I am one of the biggest bastards on here and I find your story in need of a hug.

You have written your likes & dislikes about this site already, so you know your way around. If you don't like someone, avoid them. I do. I will not post on threads where people I don't like post.

But do not go, because of a bit of controversy. I don't even know what it was about, but you sound like a really nice person to me

well... since you ask...

i think the thing is that people read them, almost in an instant, so where you in your head may be pronouncing your name sarahgeegee, right, but i read it as sayragg. which is, i don't know, kinda abrupt and naggy as a noise.

do you know what i mean? i'm not meaning it as an insult At All, but i'm saying that it may be having an impact, cos it's all about how things are read on a forum, by definition.

whereas, to use an example of someone who i don't really know but whose name always makes me smile, someone like GibbonInARibbon is a cheering name in an instant. actually, come to think of if, adamadamum is a nightmare of a name as well. i've had to check it every time, and if she was just participating in a normal thread i probably wouldn't bother if the thread was moving fast, so anything she said would effectively appear 'ignored' by me.

as for my own name, it's not great i know. when i first appeared i was aitch71, and someone pointed out that having numbers is a bit naffola, so i asked for suggestions and people came up with aitchtwooh, as in h2o, which was fine. and then MN held a charity auction of names and Aitch was on the list so i bought it for £25... i may change it again, right enough.

anyway, i hope you see what i mean. it may only be me who has difficulty recognising unmemorable names, right enough.

does aitch have a point? I had not really considered it before?

Aitch · 09/09/2007 00:55

'does aitch have a point?' ??!!

BecauseImWorthIt · 09/09/2007 00:56

There are not far short of 100,000 members on MN.

Just like RL you will love some of them, not know most of them, and dislike others.

It's irrelevant how hard your life is, to be honest. And that isn't meant to be unsymnpathetic.

If you want to leave, do so. But you will be leaving an incredible resource - a source of friendship, help, support, entertainment, humour - etc etc. And as with life - MN is what you make it.

I hope that you stay

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2007 00:57

Names are important, yes

they are part of how you present yourself on here, and we haven't got much else to go on as all our words look the same to some extent

Does Aitch actually read anything anymore, possibly not unless she read the dewberry in Chat that I set up.

The thread title is Aitch

FrannyandZooey · 09/09/2007 00:58

Aitch I think she means "do other people feel that Aitch may be correct?"

think at least one of you two should go to bed before you start fisticuffs

UCM · 09/09/2007 00:58

MV I am not a big bastard. I am a huge big motherfucking bastard

UCM · 09/09/2007 00:58

I love Aitch

Aitch · 09/09/2007 00:58

a dewberry?! for me?

Aitch · 09/09/2007 01:00

oh no, frank, i meant it as a joke. perhaps i should have had a or a in there too. i like sayragg, she's feisty. and now i am off to find my dangleberry...

[phew] that it wasn't a fight emoticon

sarahgg · 09/09/2007 01:07

is this site bitchy? think at times it speaks for itself, don't you? BTW, changing name tomorrow goodnight aitch

Aitch · 09/09/2007 01:10

but i do have a point, though, don't i? it is important... i like tippihedren's name at the mo also, but that may be because i came up with it. and normastanleyfletcher for the same reason. what else would you call a woman who's scared of birds and another who worked in a prison?

Aitch · 09/09/2007 01:12

oooh, do you need a hand, sarah? i love doing that. start a thread tomorrow and we'll help. nappiesgalore is a genius at that kind of stuff. (i'm really not being bitchy At All, btw. truly. remove that doubt from your head immediately. )

Aitch · 09/09/2007 01:14

if you do change it, btw, be sure to identify yourself to me tomorrow so i can Mark Your Card.

sarahgg · 09/09/2007 01:19

seriously, cannot understand your prob with my name, I thought it quite inoffensive, maybe too inoffensive? BTW, mum always told me to never drop my H's, maybe make an exception now
