any news?

any successes?

who is still plodding on? I think I will still be at this stage in a month

some success, with pee after 10 days, none with poo, not one on the pot, ds is def holding it in, tmrw is our first day away and I think it could be very stressful for me... train journey, I am going for a haircut, and ds is spending time with his gran... he hasn't had a poo since sunday....

daisybo · 18/07/2007 18:55

today we have had about 15 wees in pot
1 poo in pot
1 poo in pants and 3 wees in pants
not sure how this is going to go - the time he pooed in his pants he was stood looking at the potty, why he didn't just go sit on it i don't know?!!
only reason we are getting so many wees on the pot is because i ask him every 30 mins if he needs to go and he always says yes and dutifully goes and sits on pot.
if i forget to ask, he wets himself, so i don't think he knows when he needs to go iykwim. will this come in time???
he's 3.1 btw

Aefondkiss · 18/07/2007 19:05

you sound like you are having great success daisy... wish my ds would produce a poo, anywhere would do just now - sorry tmi....

you could try going a bit longer between taking him? let him have a few accidents then explain ..patiently ... pees on the pot? are you using bribes? ...

I am not much help, you are doing pretty well imho

i tried leaving it 40 mins before asking him this afternoon, and it was then that he pooed himself, so am kicking myself for not asking him now!
yes i think chocolate button bribe is part of the reason we have a wee every time - cos he knows he'll get a button, sometimes the wees are only a drop - he squeezes them out to get his choc! lol!
ah well new day tomorrow, although i have to go see a friend who lives a half hour drive away so not sure what'll happen there

daisybo · 18/07/2007 19:13

aefondkiss - will he poo in his nappy?
maybe try getting him to sit on the potty wearing a nappy or putting nappy inside the pot? iykwim
sorry i'm not much help on this - bribe him with toys???

hifi · 18/07/2007 19:27

startind dd tomorrow, is it still acceotable to hold over a grate nowadays, when out of course?

fishie · 18/07/2007 21:02

cod has lost interest in our incontinent toddlers

hifi any old gutter is fine i think, a grating is non-essential nicety.

ds is so maddened by sweeties that he has had FOUR poos this evening and apparently is trying to squeeze one out right now. oh ffs he's done another. NOOO he's done a sixth while i was typing the bottom bit, where is he getting them from?

aefond all that holding must be a good sign in the end, he is in control after all.

Aefondkiss · 18/07/2007 21:14

fishie - thank you for finding someting positive
, that made me smile!

daisy, he has a nappy at night and still isn't pooing in it... he did a lot of potty sitting tonight for his Daddy, but I fear it will force itself out tomorrow at some awkward moment ... ds says "not the pee" when I suggest he goes, so I take him...the whole choc thing seems to not really bother him... I am considering making a star chart with toy incentives... I am also planning to escape - I want a child free day when I am not thinking about his next pee!

from what I can gather facebook and that thread about peoples names indicating what they do is amusing cod... can't blame her... think of all hte people who have been through this before... it is not interesting but it is good to share iykwim?

Aefondkiss · 18/07/2007 21:16

and fishie lol at your ds"s pooing technique.. I think that is quite impressive, what chocs are you using that work such wonders?

mazzystar · 18/07/2007 21:17

ugh what a day

the tally
6 wees in potty, due to me spotting signs
6 wees out of potty, one of which down elegantly extended trouser leg from top of climbing frame at playpark.
2 poos -"dinosaur poos" apparently - in the toilet at his request!!

aero - that poo, when it comes, could be a humdinger. i'm sure you will have plenty of warning

this could make me truly demented

mazzystar · 18/07/2007 21:18

six?

quite spectacular

Aefondkiss · 18/07/2007 21:47

mazzy I know I shouldn't laugh but the description of that climbing frame pee, made me chuckle, sorry... well done you for going out and braving theat! is your ds? telling you?

oh I know that poo tomorrow will be mahoosive... the worst of it is if it happens on the train.. I will stop thinking about it this minute...

mazzystar · 18/07/2007 21:54

am v grateful no-one was underneath. esp not me.

he did today tell me about the poo and run to the toilet, which he has always flatly refused to sit on before , but wees are only going in when i catch them. although the last one tonight he hovered with intent above his little sisters bumbo and then said yes when i asked him if he needed to go. i think this may be a very long journey.

good luck tommorrow. i bet he'll wait till he gets to grandmas

penguinmum · 18/07/2007 22:14

well, have just been through the dreaded day 5, and touch wood seem to be doing well. Only 1 accident today, had tv on and think dd was too distracted to get to potty (bad mum!). No accidents yesterday, and has started asking to go. Out for dinner tonight and asked to go about 20 times (slight exaggeration!), but think mainly cos she liked coming back downstairs and waving at everyone! Not been brave enough to leave the house yet with her, can't face embarassing puddles in tesco

Aefondkiss · 19/07/2007 20:08

mazzy we can be in the long haul together, veteran potty training club? but your ds is making great bounds if he is telling you, that is fab!

penguinmum... ikwym about the puddle fear... I had ds at the local post office and as I was standing in the queu I kept looking under the buggy for puddles

I wimped out, got to train station and put ds in a pull up... dd has a dose so I was running to the loo with her...

my mum had ds all over the town then took him and dd away whilst I got my haircut... ds didn't have one wee accident, just two large poo accidents(in pants), which he got a bit stressed about, we went to the loo I cleaned him up and we waved bye to the poo as it was flushed away >joy

fishie · 19/07/2007 20:50

no accidents today! but only becuase cm has a wee routine. i will bugger it up tomorrow guaranteed.
two poos so far this evening, i am playing along because it must be good for him to plan but will have to do something, perhaps scale down sweeties.

afk you must be well glad to see the back of that poo.

mazzystar · 19/07/2007 20:54

big sigh

ds was dry when he woke up. dh got him dressed. he begged and whined for the dry nappy back on until he was reminded about the sweets and stickers and duplo fire engine....whereupon he ran - RAN - to the potty and did a lovely big pee.

at nursery - 2 accidents, one probable accident/possible over-exuberance at waterplay. 1 wee and 1 poo on the loo at nursery when I arrived. 1 in potty at home.

so what i want to know is, given the wanton and prolific urination of yesterday - where did all the pee go?

i think i would have used a pull up on public transport too.

mazzystar · 19/07/2007 20:56

nice work little fishie!

afk, fishie said what i was thinking but couldn't think of a discrete turn of phrase....

fishie · 19/07/2007 21:18

OOH duplo fire engine. time to up the ante to get him on the bog i think. the car (for poo in the loo) looks impressive but was only 99p.

mazzy sounds like your ds is almost there.

mazzystar · 19/07/2007 21:30

duplo fire engine is incentive/bribe for 20 successful wees

dh's complicated system

coddy · 19/07/2007 21:31

lol at gettign through day 5
is this my epereince only
ok cna oyu all sign in wiht name age of kdi and suces srate to date
am getting lost

BRB

MrsJohnCusack · 19/07/2007 21:36

no success here
constant stomach bugs have defeated me -= she STILL has the runs

anyhow she is 2.7
we did have a few wees in the potty adn then the lergy struck

will start again
maybe this afternoon once we've been out

she is talking about pottys/wees/poos a lot so I'm not completely without hope. However, the main thing she seems to have learnt over the last couple of weeks is how to say 'mummy SICK' 'baby SICK' etc.

fishie · 19/07/2007 21:44

phew at return of sgt cod. ds 2.3 excellent pottywork. no wees in pants today but unable to use loo. did six poos in pot last night in successful attempt to get maximum sweeties.

have warned him that loo is next but don't want to put him off.

mazzystar · 19/07/2007 22:09

ds 2.8
day 6 today but tues at nursery basically write-off
some marginal success
still not asking to go

Aefondkiss · 19/07/2007 23:30

hope there are some more senior lo's on here to share my shame

ds 3.2 ...

no way is he doing as well as most here, will pee on loo standing up

day 11 eek

still no successful poos, great bladder/bowel control, won't use the potty (well not for toilet purposes, likes to pretend he is the little princess)

considering using sticker/toy incentives to see if that will get him to sit on the loo... he gets choc for pees
