Relives ponce-tastic moment from youth:

During the break of our string quartet rehearsal the tutor asked me what I was reading. It was Catullus. He asked if I was going to do Latin for O level but I said no, it was just for fun and

RosaLuxembourg · 02/07/2007 22:57

Clary - OK I get it. Tis different in Ireland where I grew up - English, Irish and Maths are compulsory and then you have to do at least two more subjects - in my day most did 7 or 8 subjects. No idea what they do now.

[starry, which one? Oh my god now I'm seriously worried about my brain. The other day I completely forgot what I had written in an email, and now I can't remember the thread... it's getting worse!]
Vivamus, mea Lesbia, atque amemus,
rumoresque senum severiorum
omnes unius aestimemus assis.
Soles occidere et redire possunt:
nobis cum semel occidit breuis lux,
nox est perpetua una dormienda.
Da mi basia mille, deinde centum,
dein mille altera, dein secunda centum,
deinde usque altera mille, deinde centum.
Dein, cum milia multa fecerimus,
conturbabimus illa, ne sciamus,
aut nequis malus invidere possit,
cum tantum sciat esse basiorum.
