I was on a long (2 hour) train journey, and there was a couple sitting behind me with a little girl of about 2. They had not brought a book, a snack, or a toy - nothing. She was expected just to sit still, though they did let her get down occasionally. She walked up to me, and smiled and I said 'hello' . I was eating a piece of cake, and I turned to the mum and said, 'can I give her a piece of this?' and the mother glared at me and pulled the little girl back to the seat. When she whinged, she was told 'shuddup!'.
The train passed some fields, and there were some cows in it. ' Horseys!' said the little girl. Both parents laughed in a horrible way, and the mum said, 'silly little bitch - they're cows'.
This was about a year ago, and I still feel upset every time I think of it.
So I suppose I get exercised by parents who don't understand the needs of their children
Maybe they grew up with parents who didn't understand their needs, either.
Sorry it's not a funny story!
