I am secretly very unreasonable about people who live in cities who do not vaccinate their children.

OP posts:

Parent's who say "You'll fall, You'll fall" when the child is running and climbing. Oh, I can't go on.

LynetteScavo · 27/04/2007 23:06

Kids in the supermarket. Not safe. Not hygenic.

powder28 · 27/04/2007 23:24

People who take their pushchairs up escalators instead of using the lift. Have seen someones pushchair fall down an escalator with a child in it.

Anxious parents telling they're children not to do something because they'll get dirty or fall or hurt themselves. My aunt used to do this to me - I shouldn't go swimming as I might drown, shouldn't ride a bike as I might get run over etc etc etc. Fortunately she didn't have children of her own, but I see this attitude all around me every day. It's so negative.

Twinmummyx2 · 28/04/2007 08:13

OK-the baby on board sticker thing-i will admit that i had one many moons ago in my very flash looking ford escort....(didn't realise it would attract all sorts of just passed driving test teenge lads when i bought it) (i just liked the colour!) They used to see it and when at lights reeving engines and driving right up to the back of the car as if they wanted to race (esp more when dp was driving it) so by putting the 'baby on board' sign in the back window it put them off....and safer all round

I now have ford galaxy so no need for one

can i be excused for this blip in my life??

colditz · 28/04/2007 08:16

Ok, I totally understand about 'not safe' to ride in supermarket trolleys, but what on earth has hygiene got to do with anything? There will be more germs on a door handle than there will be in a trolley, no?

3sEnough · 28/04/2007 08:18

Please somebody tell me that the 'riding in the trolley basket is unsafe and unhygienic' bit is a joke?!!

dancingtina · 28/04/2007 08:20

babies and children under say 8 having pierced ears!!

aww, why would anyone do that?

I was in Claire's accessories once and there was a woman in there with THE most beautiful 8month old baby girl, she was big and and fat and cuddly and beaming at everyone sitting on her mums knee...then the woman pierced her ear and the look of betrayal and confusion on her face before she screamed in pain was heartbreaking...why why why?

Twinmummyx2 · 28/04/2007 08:21

There is a thread over on 'chat' about children riding in trollies!!!

Twinmummyx2 · 28/04/2007 08:23

Ohhh i agree with the earings thing...its sad...i waited til my daughter came home and asked to have hers done, told her it would hurt..she still insisted...went to jewellers..only had one done! she was about 10 then i think.

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:27

I always take an antibacterial wipe with me and wipe the trolley before I let my dd's any where near it.

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:27

NOT

colditz · 28/04/2007 08:30

Ha!

I nearly pounced on you then

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:30

On a serious note,
Letting kids go around with dried, caked snot all over their face really gets my goat.
How hard is it to wipe their nose.
YUK........

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:31

Who me????
Did you think I was serious or were you going to tell everyone that I most certainly don't do that?????

colditz · 28/04/2007 08:31

People who worry too much about trolleys' hygine have one 14 week old baby. They don't have a perpetually grubby four year old and a one year old who will suck anything within range.

colditz · 28/04/2007 08:32

I was going to tell on you, or point out that a Greggs napkin with spit on is stretching the definition of 'antibacterial wipe' a little.

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:33

PMSL, hey don't give away all my housekeeping secrets

seeker · 28/04/2007 08:33

We have a friend who's a fireman - he says that he doesn't mind the "baby on board"sign, but wishes people would take them out when the baby isn't in the car, so the emergency services don't put themselves at risk hunting for a non-existent child.

Earrings on under 11s

People who use the word "sexy" to small children as in "ohh, don't you look sexy"

Clothes for little girls with inappropriate slogans - particularly if they are written across the bottom.

Parents who let their child bully them - I have two friends who let their 6 year olds shout at them, hit them and generally control them. I want to say "How dare you talk to your mother like that!"

kiskidee · 28/04/2007 08:35

tarty clothes on little girls

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:36

Good point about the car sign, which I think are a good idea btw. But I'd never remember to put it back in.

CantSleepWontSleep · 28/04/2007 08:40

People smoking anywhere near a child.

elasticbandstand · 28/04/2007 08:41

eew, runny noses, let me wipe them before my dog licks it off..

BandofMothers · 28/04/2007 08:42

I have wiped other peoples kids noses before , but only those whose parents I know.

thegardener · 28/04/2007 19:45

people who can't be bothered to dress their child & keep them in sleepsuits (1 yr old's)
