I am secretly very unreasonable about people who live in cities who do not vaccinate their children.

people who drag their kids round the shops all saturday afternoon totally ignoring them then get angry with them when they get board and windgey. used to work in a shop and would see poeple in the shop at 11am then agin at about half 4, kiddies crying, parents shouting etc....grrrr!

zizou · 29/04/2007 09:11

Does noone else get exercised by the vaccine thing then? I've been interrogating myself to see why I do - I seem to get in a blind rage about it - which I quickly suppress in order not to alienate my friends - which is weird as am really a hippy in many ways.

Which way do you tend tho. Do you agree or not?? Your post is not really clear on that.

Oh, I think people should vaccinate if they live in cities. This is my sitting on the fence, middle ground position come to after years of reading conflicting things about vaccinations. I think it's probably ridiculous, but I do get red mist at hippy parents who don't vaccinate in hackney.
Sorry if unclear.

Zizou:wd be symathetic to that one too (I live in Hackney and do vaccinate)

Powder: in defence of all mums on the underground, most stations do not have lifts. It's the escalator or nothing.

Hmm, for me, def parents shouting at their kids for being kids - e.g. chatting away. Also those who ignore bad manners tho DS is only 6 months so my stance on that might change

Swizzler · 29/04/2007 09:50

lol at BOM and her antibacterial children

moopymoo · 29/04/2007 09:54

it bugs me when people freak out if their kids get dirty. we had some of dhs work friends round with their 2 year old, we were in the garden and they were going nuts...dont stand on that dont touch that soil dont touch the cat mind that tree??? my ds spends long summer days getting super grubby outside then - wow- we pop him in the bath and it comes right off!!

SweetyDarling · 29/04/2007 10:07

People who whisk their children away from dogs giving the child the impression that they have something to fear.

climbingwalls · 29/04/2007 15:04

Baby on Board signs and all the other variations.

I'm with zizou too re vaccinations and think it is very selfish of parents not to get their kids vaccinated when they live in highly populated areas.

Parents who don't wipe snotty noses so it goes all crusty, poor children!

Parents who constantly hover over their children 'helping' them do things that kids should be able to do by themselves, and saying "be careful" all the time.

nappyaddict · 29/04/2007 15:18

my step SIL always smokes around her 16 month old and it secretly annoys me. i always try and take ds into another room if she does it when we are there, but i can't very well say to her in her own house can you not smoke in here please.

Overrun · 29/04/2007 15:24

I am always secretly scornful about parent who choose for one of them to sit in the back of the car with baby on long journeys.
It just seems so over the top to me, if the baby can hear your voice if it wakes, and is probably going to be asleep for most of the journey. Then why not actually take the opportunity to chat to each other, something that is hard to do with a new baby.
Well I am glad to have got that off my chest

parents who pretend they haven't seen their kids misbehave

Boco · 29/04/2007 15:41

Pushy parents who use flash cards on their 2 year olds and try and teach them to read too young.

Pushy parents who try to potty train their 18 month olds who clearly aren't ready and then get furious with them ever time they have an accident.

Parents who scream at their kids in public and use threats of smacks to try and control them

Porcupine · 29/04/2007 15:42

I know someone who flashcarded her daughter - word on one side, word with the picture on the other side. She'd come at her with them constantly throughout the day - in the bath, on the loo, in the garden, eating dinner, until her 3 year old could read all 40 words. I just wanted to scream 'ffs leave her alone you bastard!'

climbingwalls · 29/04/2007 15:49

Parents who smugly think their kids are unusual and adventurous with food because they eat olives, pepperoni and humous.
