OK I went away for a few hours after reading and participating in a rather light hearted thread about all us bad mothers grouping together against all the I am holyier than though threads of late and when I come back it has taken a nasty and un needed twist to the point where racism has been mentioned.

Can someone point out where the hell this has come from.

but it is a v annoying shorthand.

I do actually agree that most of those threads were over the top. but so is this one.

When Ds1 was a toddler I used to be in dismay seeing another toddler having crisps etc. Then DS2 had reflux and we had feeding problems. The Paediatric dietian siad that he need the confidence to chew, she suggested that we gave him food that would easily disolve in his mouth and evatually give hike confidence to chew. One of these food types was Quavers, so my 13 month old was seen in a push chair eating Quavers - how many would have looked down at me ! I was just glad he would eat something without throwing up !!.

I like coke myslef but wouldn't give it to the kids, Macdonalds now and again, everything in moderation.

Raw cake mix. loved licking out the bowl when my Mum made cakes and my children love doing it - all part of growing up and having happy times .

If a HV suggested a bottle - some Mums may welcome this as some feel there is too much pressure to brestfeed eventhough we know it is the best for the baby.

there is so much more death and destruction going on around us and I have seen some children being dragged up rather than brough up that I am not going to worry about my kids having a MacDonalds happy meal now and again, munching biscuits in the supermarket or being shocked at a mother bottle feeding .

flutterbee - I have a thing about the misuse of the term pc. people who are really "non-pc" are usually racists (i.e. they think it's ok to say nigger) or otherwise bigotted. it's quite a useful term, and it doesn't mean "thinks coke is the work of the devil".

I am also tired and it's hot.

for those of you that have taken this the wrong way, it was meant as a light-hearted fun poke at the kids t-shirt slogan/hv are evil/coke hating brigade.

My reference to pc was just a figure of speech and not literal.

Caligula, we normally agree on most things, you have the wrong end of the stick, I have just finished a fab placement with a hv, what I dont like is people slagging them off on here for giving the best advice they are provided with

BTW my chips and curry were fab, finished off with a family bag of walkers sensations and a strawberry cheesecake, oh and I'm not obsese before someone suggests my legs are rubbing together

Thats the problem today, because we are all supposed to be PC, Health & Safety etct we can no longer have light hearted fun and banter wihtout sexism , racism . discrimnation being thrown into it all. Very sad !!

yes well I distinctly dislike being referred to as racist. There have been no comments regarding racism from any posters bar one!
