All those who snigger at the:

checkout woman said why not give her a biscuit
shocked at lunchbox contents
eating at McDonalds is on a par with registering them in an al queda training camp
HV suggested a bottle (gasp)
Coke is the work of the devil

"think mushrooms are better than biscuits"

Shock
Northerner · 20/06/2006 16:53

My dh's step mum (raised him and his brother from aged 7) was a fab cook, she was really concerned about what they ate. Always home cooked, fresh ingredients, all food groups representsed and stuff, but, she was never there for tehm emotionally, they did not feel loved or asfe and secure and she criticised their behaviour constantly.

So was she a good mum just cause they ate good food?

Thomcat · 20/06/2006 16:54

Yeah if my kid was eatign a mushrrom I wouldn't want her to swap it for a biscuit, as per thread mosschops is on about. What's wrong with that?

good food should be made with a bit of love

Northerner · 20/06/2006 16:54

TC - they weren't just ordinary beefburgers either, they were having M&S burgers with home made relish I must add.

Enid · 20/06/2006 16:55

sorry have not read mushroom v biscuit thread if there is such a thing

Enid · 20/06/2006 16:56

cant believe mushrooms have much nutritional value tbh

Thomcat · 20/06/2006 16:56

Ohhhhhhhhhhh get you with your home made relish!!!!!!!!!!

Thomcat · 20/06/2006 16:57

LOL Enid - yes, it wasn't me being random. There was a thread where the supmarket woman told a mum to give her a kid a biscuit as thought it was gross that she was happily munching on a mushroom.

If you didn't know about that thread no wonder you thought that was a odd thing for me to say, LOL!

spangles · 20/06/2006 16:58

Signing in right now.. although I agree with Coke being "the work of the devil" coz I my self am a recovering coke addict Shock
That said my DSs are always asking for crisps/biscuits/sweets etc, and I have to say they quite oftrn get them Blush

flutterbee · 20/06/2006 16:58

Woooo Hoooo this is the thread for me.

I have been in my PJ's all day today and will be ordering take away for dinner tonight.

I went with my Mum for lunch the other day and tried to give DS (7months) some carrot and lettuce to chomp on, he threw both straight on the floor and sat with his mouth open waiting for some of Grandmas delicious chocolate pudding which she obviously gave him. Thats my boy.

I've just had a coke Grin but it's my first one in ages. I went to the shops to seek out caffeine free coke (was mentioned on a thread the other day) but could only find caffeine free diet coke so had to have a full fat one! Wouldn't give it to the kids though because they don't need it whereas I was in neeeeeeeed.

LOl at blind nuns making sausages Grin

foxinsocks · 20/06/2006 17:16

lol - I was a caffeine addict in a previous existence so try to avoid it (used to drink coke for breakfast and have several cups of coffee!). Haven't had coke in years then someone posted their shopping list on here and there was caffeine free coke!

We never have the fruit or veg at McDs - what they are washed and packaged in is probably worse for you than eating their chicken nuggets!

Blu · 20/06/2006 17:16

Isn't it theft to eat mushrooms in supermarkets before they have been weighed and paid for?
I am really shocked to think that a MN-er would do that.....
and without washing them Shock

Elibean · 20/06/2006 17:23

I remember being about 7, and making an entire cake in order to eat the mix raw - with my little brother. My Mum was out. Bliss.

Not even sure what consitutes pc these days and what doesn't Blush

spursmum · 20/06/2006 17:27

Am I the only person that thinks that caffine free diet coke tastes vile? it's watered down syrup. Yuuk yuuk yuuk!!

foxinsocks · 20/06/2006 17:28

have never had diet coke but caffeine free diet coke must only be liquid coloured sweeteners
