will do!

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 21:25

Living in Italy is not easy and often a huge pita, but it has some (very few) perks...

tommycarcetti · 11/02/2010 21:28

at everything in your life franca, colazione al bar, bimbi a scuola durante il giorno, aaahglkaslk;ak;lslk;halksdklahgdkslajgalkjflkadsjfkajfldksjaflkasjdflkj

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 21:30

carcetti, my kids are old! (you don't want me to home ed them, do you?)

TheMysticMasseuse · 11/02/2010 21:41

LOL at Franca reading CHi al bar sotto casa

I have now gotten into a routine, drop dd1 at nursery, then go to the horrid shopping mall with dd2, share a croissant and a coffee (well, she doesnt get the coffee), look at a few horrible shops, spend a few hundred euros on a couple of groceries, e cosi' s'e gia' fatta 'na certa...

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 21:49

hello! Rosa, forgot to say your dds look gorgeous!!!!! soooooooooooooooooooooooo cute!

pippi, yes, need to arrange s.thing, now that the big tidy/sorting operation is ending I can acctually use my free time as it's intended!! going insane otherwise!

cicciobello... aaaaaaahhhhhhhhh, the one I had was handed down, I brought here a couple of my fav dolls, but now I'm thinking I haven't seen my cicciobello for a while, suspect my niece might have done s.thing to it, like to some other of my toys which I managed to keep pretty much intact all these years, like the coffee machine and il dolce forno harbert

DS's a daydreamer too... I tthink I shout at him most mornings, and there's 2 of us too! he now plays on my obvious guilt and says that he's scared of me when I shout

wow, spies and diamonds, is mr carcetti james bond?!?

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 21:51

MM, DD would have the coffee too.... tale madre tale figlia

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 21:56

Il dolce forno!!! I never managed to bake anything in it though.

MM are the croissants good or are they shite?

TheMysticMasseuse · 11/02/2010 21:58

they are 90% butter hence absolutely divine....

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 22:04

I did just crostatine, they alwys come out nice (or maybe it was the fact that I made them and cooked them with MY forno....

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 22:04

indeed. Croissants, brioshe whatever are on average quite disappointing here in milan. Of course they taste better if you eat them while reading chi. Apparently Heater Parisi is expecting twins and she is almost 50

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 22:05

camo, I'm impressed.

I commented parisi's pregnancy with my edicolante the other day.. God, I'm an attaccabottone.

TheMysticMasseuse · 11/02/2010 22:06

thanks franca. Now have distubring image of heather paris giving birth to twins while doing a spaccata frontale and signing Cicale

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 22:08

e le cicale, cicale cicale cicale... now I'll be singing it all night... my mum told me the other day, brrrrr at that picture MM!!

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 22:09

Alexander mcqueen's been found dead?!

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 22:13

finally feeling warm, had to go to one of those team building things at the globe today, but it was sooooooooooo cold and windy, especially walking down the millenium bridge, and all I could think about wa at my future ipod down the drain as the boiler packed up this morning, luckily we managed to find a plumber that replaced a part tonight, but I think my b-day present's gone with it (should become a plumber, would have the house I want where I want it....)

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 22:16

apparently he has committed suicide, very sad.

Francagoestohollywood · 11/02/2010 22:17

lol at spaccata frontale.

camo brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at the thought of you walking on the millenium bridge. Very cold here as well. And tomorrow I'm going to the dentist again. grrrr

Camomilla · 11/02/2010 22:35

at least it was sunny...

notte tutte

Sputnik · 12/02/2010 07:06

It is freakin well snowing, in Rome! Really hard too.
DD is having her carnival party today, hopefully it'll stop later so we can get into school.

There is a really good bar near DS's new nursery, they do cornetti salati which are quite a rarity here.

TheMysticMasseuse · 12/02/2010 10:53

aaarrgghhhhh there is a snowstorm here. have to go pick dd1 up. am terrified of driving on/in the snow.

dd2, int he meantime, has fainted in the arms of the babysitter. which is, on one hand, great because it means she feels safe with her (it's only the 3rd time she comes), but otoh, not so great because she will def wake up if put down. whcih means the bs will have to hold her for one hour. well, i suppose that's what she gets paid for...

we have a carnevale party today. Had to explain to my dds what it is, "like Halloween, only italian, and with better food"

phoned a headhunter to ask them why they turned me down for job i was perfectly qualified for. She said "because we'll always give precedence to people who have already worked in Switzerland". bitch.

TheMysticMasseuse · 12/02/2010 10:56

oh another question. do you also find you miss male interaction when not working? i have grown up around boys, have always had lots of male friends, and worked in male dominated environments. Haven't spoken to a male over 5 years old (excl DH) since Christmas

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 12/02/2010 13:01

I did at first MM. I missed everything at first! Not AS much now but for this purpose, not just this purpose alone obviously, I have kept a few male friends I see regularly on my own. On the other hand it is great to 'discover' female friendship and bonding with women - they are as great as men! I am not being patronising here, I am telling this to myself as for a long time I thought male company was better than female one's. well not true. I also discovered the power that women have even though such power is invisible and not so obvious because not connected with money or status.
Is there a great gym you could join and spend the morning in? Mine has got creche, soft play area cafe', and computers. It a great way for both me and dd2 to spend the morning. I read anna of green gables 2 this morning, did a class, lunch with dd2 and a coffee. If I had to spend everymorning in westfield I think I'd end up in a loony bin. in fact one day there and I am half gone already.

Camo, I LOVED dolce forno and I did bake a few things in it tbh. Never the mega white cake at the end of the recipe book though, which was always my dream. I wonder if they sell it again. The DDs would love it, or is it me???

Sputnik, cornetti salati.... deeelicious!!!

Rosa · 12/02/2010 13:04

The snow missed us and today it is lovely and sunny !!!
MM - Lie and say you worked as Heidi in a play so you have some swiss work experience. What complete idiots ....
Breakfast al bar. Thing is the croissant has to be good as in really good. Fluffy and buttery and not squashed . I have a couple of bars that are good but they are on the doctors run so if its a routine check I go in there. Otherwise just stick to a coffee now and again. Plus not many places to sit round here unless you get charged through the nose for it !
Pippi have you tried E45? - you need to put it on in the pm though or you get greasy everything !
Dd crnevale party at school was lovely and we have another outside one this pm then an inside one domani mat .....
Hope you are all not snowed under !
