Staying away from all italian press etc because i am just too depressed. don't even want to read tired old Repubblica analysis of why everything is going wrong.

Bottomline, Italy is a right wing country, hypnotised by Berlusconi and his "culture" of nothingness, which he has contributed to creating over the last 30 years with his tvs etc.

It sucks to admit it but Italians obviously like Berlusconi, and obviously have zero confidence in the opposition. that's democracy for you (mind you, a seriously sick democracy but still).

Franca, have a great time in London! I hope the horrid weather wont' last too long. You've got all museums down, right? The childhood museum in Bethnal Green is supposed to be fabulous and your dcs might really enjoy it. Afterwards you could grab a vietnamese dinner. The newly reopened Whitechapel gallery also supposed to be amazing. Not sure where McNulty/Carcetti/McLoud (you know who I mean!) is these days, but these things are all her way.

Still on the mountains- everything hurts. It's hard work skiing, and doing skiing holidays with young kids

Francagoestohollywood · 31/03/2010 18:00

MM, thank you :-). Yes, the museum of childhood is at the top of my list.

Yes, I think settimana bianca is hard with little ones. This is why I, the laziest person on earth, waited until the kids were old enough to at least try to put their boots on themselves ... I don't think I'd have braved one with little ones, so hats off to you my dear, you have all my admiration

Yes, very quite here. I feel neglected , but rosa I'll never leave youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Camomilla · 31/03/2010 18:27

franca, haven't been neglecting LI, promised , just fed up with looking at monitor all day at work - where I try and catch up but can't log in (and I also keep on falling asleep on the sofa very early and then wake up at 1/2/3am and drag myself to bed - need to start new knitting project when I come back!!)

Sputnik · 31/03/2010 20:57

Sounds like you all have nice easters planned. Us too, we are off for a few days to SIL's place in Tuscany tomorrow, it will be cold aparently but not raining. DD has been promised an easter egg hunt so it better not be!

Been spending loads and loads of time 1 to 1 with DS, hence my neglect of MN a bit lately, it is really paying off and he is communicating a lot more, although still not that often verbally. He has a long way to catch up still but I am feeling a bit better about the whole thing.

Camomilla · 31/03/2010 21:18

great news Sputnik (and very of the tuscany break!!)

Sputnik · 31/03/2010 21:35

Yes we are really lucky, especially since we are skint and can't afford "proper" holidays, though they may force us to do some gardening at some point!

When the place is finished I could probably negotiate a cut price rate for a mass LI meet up if anyone's interested, it is huge.

Francagoestohollywood · 31/03/2010 22:37

Ooooh, Sputnik, lovely news about ds, I'm so glad you are feeling better about this and most of all it feels as you are in control of the situation!

And considered myself booked for a Tuscany meet up, it'd be great, wouldn't it?

Btw, I was being facetious and I know life it's busy

Camo have a great time in Italy, I hope you'll get some sunshine and sent pics of your manufatti!

BananaGio · 01/04/2010 08:41

Sputnik that is good news! Have a lovely time in Tuscany and yes would be fab to have mass meet up.
My Mum has done all my ironing . It was the biggest overflowing basket you have ever seen, I was on the verge of putting ds in heavy winter jumpers as he had no more clothes!
Bring on the bank holiday weekend! We are going to the sea tomorrow and the zoo on Sat.
No words re the elections, just don't get it!

Sput that is excellent news about your ds really pleased that he is making progress and as for Tuscany that sounds nice !!!! We are not doing anything special apart from lunch at MIL on Sunday think the weather will stop other plans to be honest .....

Bucharest · 01/04/2010 16:27

Good news Sput!

Been to sunny (sorry) park again this morning, also to jab place for long overdue chicken pox jab and managed to lose bloody house keys. Thankfully was able to remind dp f when he lost his wallet and all his docs twice last year when drink had been taken....

Can anyone help this poster:

Sputnik · 01/04/2010 16:34

I managed to leave my credit card at Ikea today. Luckily they have it.

Bucharest · 01/04/2010 16:36

That makes me feel better!

Sputnik · 01/04/2010 17:22

Glad to be of service

Rosa · 01/04/2010 17:44

When I was pg I put my bancomat in the freezer. Thing is whilst not being pg and in the Uk I left DH bancomat 1st in M&S and then a week later in Mothercare.. It was those pin machines that did it I just forgot to take it out . I said to the M&S people they should have red flashing alarms when you don't take it out 5 sec after completing your PIN. DH doesn't know about the Uk epidodes........
We have had heavy rain but outbursts here. Now it looks as if sun could be coming out.
Ikea I am starting to build up a list which for some reason dh hides .........

Sputnik · 01/04/2010 17:53

If you go on the Ikea site you can make a shopping list and save it to your pc as a pdf, then it puts the shelf you have to get it from and everything.
Yes it was the machine in the cassa fai da te that I left it in. I thought I was being very efficient!

Rosa · 01/04/2010 19:11

Sputnik that is wicked.....I diddn't know that - It would make dh life easier if he ever went alone again which I very much doubt !

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 01/04/2010 19:18

A wish you all a sunny and happy Easter!!

PS: I have got to share with you the most hilarious and shocking name I have EVER come across: MAICOL, for an italian boy!

Sputnik · 01/04/2010 20:15

Poor bastard
Where you been, Pippi?

Camomilla · 01/04/2010 22:22

that's shocking, pippi, as if no one will know it's wrong...

how's carcetti?

Rosa, was hoping to escape winter

Bucharest · 02/04/2010 07:06

You know where they've got Maicol from?
This year's Grande Fratello, the screeching harridan of a gay boy was called "Maicol". (he was obviously really called Michele, but y'know.)
(even if was a nice name, he was so awful, the typical stereotypical bitchy bloke, it would be enough to put you off)
Is this a new baby then Pippi? Blimeyheck.

Francagoestohollywood · 02/04/2010 10:58

Well, we haven't left. Yet. Bloody Easy Jet cancelled the bloody flight. There was upheaval. They didn't even bother to send a manager or anything. I'm not sure what's more worrying: that they don't bother to send a manager to speak to 100 pissed off passengers or that there actually isn't any manager at Linate airport

We are booked on an Alitalia flight this early afternoon . We tried to get a rimborso but easyjet website yesterday night would let us sign us in . The tel line is always busy.

I'm more than pissed off and actually a bit disgusted by the treatment.

Lol at leaving the cc in the freezeer

Francagoestohollywood · 02/04/2010 10:59

Wouldn't

Bucharest · 02/04/2010 11:41

Oh no Franca, fingers crossed you get your money back....doesn't surprise me they don't have reps at the airports tbh, that would be a wage to pay.....

Rosa · 02/04/2010 13:05

Franca you have my sympathy but Easy Jet when I got through to them were great and moved me straight away or offered me a full refund. They have to BTW it is part of the European charter - I am still waiting for flybe to give me my refund for my internal flights however !
I now travel with all EJ numbers Uk and Italy and if needed go through to the reservation number rtaher than CServices as they answer faster mind you the calls are costly !
Hope Az wasn't too expensive...... ( do you have travel insurance as you can claim on that as well !)
Maicol that is just poor spelling for Michael surely....( Rosa hopes)Bucharest so you confess to actually watching grande fratello?????
