Hello Spag!

Yes, dd has a middle name and all the family were at it. I didn't know (at the time) about the official document thing, and just kept saying "no, her name isn't , her name is just her middle name is **. Nice SIL who does something with codice fiscali filled in all the paperwork for us, and dd now has 2 codici fiscali, one with just her first name and one with both.

I once had a hooooge row at Bari airport with a nasty official who kept saying "Where is ?" and I was "she's here, but she's *." And he was all sneery and said "Mah, e sua figlia e non conosce il nome??"

Just added up, dd has 23 letters! Mind you her best friend has a ginormous surname as well, so is probably even worse off with fewer names.

I'd stick with what you like!

PS Franca, your first peli sulla lingua was more grammatically correct

PPS Going back to Catholics, Franca, I forgot to tell you all another A$$ End moment last weekend, d-nephew went for his first confession, and at their parrochia, all the family goes in for a wee token confession, to show the child how it's done.....MIL was in there for about 90 minutes boring the arse off the poor priest . SIL and I were giggling about it and "What, only 90 minutes, she must have been giving him the edited version"

Francagoestohollywood · 26/03/2010 16:43

. 90 minutes
I'm trying to watch Santoro's prog, but kids are getting in the way...

spaghettina · 26/03/2010 18:19

Thanks for the info Bucharest - I can just imagine the nasty sarcastic airport official
I think we will just go for it with the three names and stuff the consequences...why let the bureacrats rule our lives and dictate what we name our children?

Franca - is that the Santoro programme that was on TV last night? I was watching but it got too depressing so I gave up and went to bed...

Francagoestohollywood · 26/03/2010 19:23

Yes, it was last night's program. I haven't been able to watch it yet, hopefully after the dc's are in bed...

Where are you spaghettina, Italy or the uk?

Rosa · 26/03/2010 21:57

QUick post as have just finished another cake......
BOth mine have 2 names and surname. dd1 has 20 letters. She is called a bit by both names but generally by her 1st one . In school there are 3 with the same sounding name ( mine is spelt different) so they call her by both for ease...Doesn't bother me that much I only use both when I am cross.
As for pen bashing twats in the commune been there done it and we won..... FYI we called dd2 name and then my surname which is a girls name as well. Dh had a right hooo haaa with them and I very hormonal a week after the birth was in a complete state as they wouldn't let us register it.....DH stuck to his guns and we got it !
Right wound down now so off to bed.....

BananaGio · 27/03/2010 08:26

at pen bashing twats in the commune.
DS has got 24 letters, poor sod.
Got GP's arriving on Monday hurrah!DS driving me insane with countdown and wanting them NOW!
Keeps saying they are coming with Buttons (his fave treat ever are chocolate buttons)- I hope they remember or I think he'll send them back!
Off to market now,am mid doing my balcony plants as I have, as always, killed everything off from last year.

OP posts:
spaghettina · 27/03/2010 10:26

ooh chocolate buttons, lovely!

So I see I'm not the only one risking heated discussions with the pen bashing twats

Franca, I'm in Milan. Haven't even begun to look into the whole question of UK citizenship/passport for the little one, should probably get a move on...

Rosa · 27/03/2010 12:25

spaghettina if you or your dh are british by birth then you don't have a time limit to egister the child... I went into a panic when I realised that I hadn't ( and still haven't done Minirosa). I must do it but it is the assegno cirolare I forget the amount or there is a queue in the bank !
LOl at Gio with the plants. I was given a decorative orange plant n Feb and its still alive lord knows how !

spaghettina · 27/03/2010 13:35

Thanks Rosa that's reassuring to know

I am the pollice nero extraordinaire, i've managed to kill off several cacti and a beautiful money plant either by over- or underwatering, not to mention countless other plants and herbs. I blame the pollution in Milan though!

Rosa · 27/03/2010 14:11

I walk pass the flower shop and they all go Noooooo please not her. I leave my plants on the internal staircase in August when I am away - my neighbour said they were so bad that she gave me 2 new ones !!!!!
Gotta go to a party and dh being a pain and minirosa is just a whingebag - or maybe thats the otherway round !

Sputnik · 27/03/2010 20:58

I used to have a zillion plants, 2 children later they were all gone except one, an elephant foot plant. It could probably survive a nuclear catastrophe at this point.
I have got some new plants in the last year or so, they are surviving but not that happy.

Actually speaking of plants was happy to see when we got to our old house the apricot tree we planted last year is flowering, wonder how many years til the apricots now.

Francagoestohollywood · 27/03/2010 21:13

Hello everyone!
Another one here who's useless with plants. I've noticed that there are some cherry trees blooming here in Milan, amazing!

Spaghettina, ah yes, of course you are in Milan! Sorry, my memory is a bit like a scolapasta

Gio, your ds is so sweet!

Rosa, glad you found the flat to rent for the summer.

TheMysticMasseuse · 28/03/2010 09:01

hello everyone, sorry not been around much, i did lurk a bit... but was too absorbed by twin obsessions with twilight and the wire (Franca, started season 5 last night, straight into a double bill, loving it so far!)

So we're in the mountains for a week, really bad start to the tholiday as the chalet hadn't been cleaned (cue massive fight with management company- rudest people i've ever seen- and annoyed phonecalls to owner in London, eventually a clearner showed up but after i'd already made all the beds and tidied up). Plus it's raining, so much for Easter skiing being all sunny and warm. And this mroning we forgot about the clocks changing and overslept by one hour- so dh had to literally run out the door with dd1 for her skiing lesson, dd2 and I are watching Peter Pan

Spaghe, my dds both have a double name, because one was not enough , but they are all short names which imo sound v good together. they are both 16 letters in total, which is not too bad- I am 26! now, that's excessive, plus i have a middle name whcih appears on some documents and not on others, etc etc. big old mess. I'd go with whatever name(s) you like, i have friends in london who couldnt agree on what version of a name to use and so now the poor baby is called the equivalente of Mark Marco Smith

No plants in our household. I figure I am already nurturing two lives...

Bucharest · 28/03/2010 11:22

Spag- if you and/or dh are British then you don't need to register your baby's birth with the Brits (this used to be my job before I decided I'd rather live by the sea and swear at people leaving dog shit outside my house )
Registering a birth with the Brits if the baby is born abroad is just another money spinner for the Uk govt.
Any passport/nationality queries, fire em at me!
Most of my plants die off over the winter too, but this year one geranium has survived! Dp used to whinge constantly about my balcony garden but since he's grown a baby rosemary bush out there, he's converted...he rushes home, not a kiss for me or dd, but immediately out onto the balcony to see his Precious Second Born.....
They've gone to the outlaws today so I'm having a lovely day mopping floors and eating aglio, olio e peperoncino macchiato di pomodoro....

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2010 14:40

. I made asparagi a la Sophie Griegson today.

Masseuse, Yo! Whare are you then? I'd have thought that the swiss organization run perfectly smoothly. Ha!
Sorry to hear it's raining, what a crap start to a settimana bianca, I hope it improves.
I'm happy to hear you are enjoying season 5 already. It took me a while to get engrossed by it, but perhaps I watched it too soon after finishing season 4.
I urge you to get in contact with me after watching ep3. ok?

Francagoestohollywood · 28/03/2010 14:41

get in touch. Gosh, my english is appalling.

Rosa · 28/03/2010 15:12

BUch - so were you respnsible for the incorect spelling on dd1 birth certificate 3 times ???
I did it just really for peace of mind but I do agree about the highly stupid fees - I enquired about doing it in the Uk even for a small fee but not a hope. Well we have to keep the consul in earl grey and hob nobs don't we ?
MM NOt a good start hope it gets better. Spring has sprung here today . I hate the clock change ok so we went for lunch but dd1 fell asleep 30 mins ago and minirosa about 10 mins ago so that means they will both be roaring round at 9pm refusing even to think about bed !

Bucharest · 28/03/2010 15:16

Nah, not me, I worked for the Home Office, the bods who fvck up the docs in the consulates work for the Foreign Office....the problem is that people think it's a necessity (and the consulate aren't going to disabuse them of that) when it's not. I haven't done it, but dd is of course, still a Brit.

Didn't you get them to re-do the docs? I would have.

Rosa · 28/03/2010 15:21

Oh yes they did it until it was right . Each time they got 1 letter wrong in her name. I just wanted and do want something for MRosa to say that she / they are British. NOt going down the passport route until we have to as Italian ones are cheaper....

BananaGio · 28/03/2010 16:02

snap Buch, DS out with DP and I am spring cleaning. And OMG my flat is DIRTY . And that is with me giving it a once over every day AND having a cleaner once a week so we are obviously both crap! Embarrassing piles of dust in hidden places. Taken me 2 hours just to do living room! Mind you that included an anally retentive hour putting DVDs in alphabetical order and reorganising book shelves. Now having a crodino and cig break on balcony in the sun surrounded by not yet dead plants (smug house wifey emoticon)
mmmm love aglio olio. I had crackers and philadelphia as was just me but got pennette al salmone tonight with gamberoni alla griglia and am counting the hours and minutes!
