We've had rain all day, and cold, but think it's pretty rare it rains actually in Rome.

Can't help with your thread McNulty, but, (ok everyone is going to think I am a total weirdo now) I actually reuse baby wipes, as I use washable nappies anyway I just bung them in together. You can keep washing them indefinitely as far as I can tell. At the hospital they taught us to wash their bottoms, but at a certain point that becomes impractical.

Sputnik · 26/01/2010 13:13

snows in Rome

Rosa · 26/01/2010 13:23

Should I watch the wire in English or Italian ?

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 13:32

No, it's snowing everywhere but not in Milan!

Watch it in English Rosa, most def! Plus, I don't think you can buy the dvds in Italy (I think they were showing it on Cult, sky), I bought mine on Amazon.
I've just promised to lend the 1st season to a friend, otherwise I would have posted it to you.

I've never used too many baby wipes as I've always washed their bottoms. Now si fanno il bidet da soli, or ask for help.

Sputnik · 26/01/2010 13:41

Rosa I can lend you season 1 if you like. If you like them you can join the Franca/Sputnik Wire lending circle.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 14:10

Why do you think I can't watch anything on youtube at the mo?

Mcnultysexgod · 26/01/2010 14:37

actually i was her bum too, only if we are out...baby wipes are great though for cleaning floors, blinds, etc. will stop buying them though as really not good for the environmnent...
great idea to wash them, actually.

Rosa · 26/01/2010 15:22

Think I am ok for the wire ( thanks) will shout if not.
Stopped snowing now but too late to head out and some has settled so roads might be iffy. MRosa runny nose and temp so following in the footsteps of dd1 and dh I have her vaccini domani and I am going to have to cancel them this will be the third time....Me thinks I will prende parole but each time she has been ill....Uffa !

I got rid of our teflon stuff because supposedly that's carcinogenic too. Apparently they are going to ban the sale of it in 2014 or something. Not sure if it's just teflon or all non-stick things, but as they often seem to get sctratched and that stuff must end up in your food I decided on a blanket ban! That was when I got the Le Creuset-alikes in Ikea, which do fine.

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 26/01/2010 16:37

I have known for a long time about the teflon and yet I've never done anything about it. sputnik I was longing for these blue set in ikea yesterday... now I will have a great excuse to go and get them .

I'll look at my bathroom supplies. if I have to get rid of those few expensive make up (from 1932) I will scream - not that I ever use them. To stay in this subject I have heard that make up has a shelf life of a year more or less - why? What happens if you go over that?

Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 16:45

I've recently discovered crema Vea, which is on sale in many farmacie. It's excellent for dry, screpolate skin.

Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 16:49

No idea what happens to make up. I've had the same products for yrs! Ime, mascara tends to dry up after a while, but the rest seems to keep well.

Will they also get rid of Teflon trousers for UK school children ?

Mcnultysexgod · 26/01/2010 17:11

God, didn't know about Teflon .

my toothpaste had parabens, so that's gone now. Loads of stuff doesnt though, checked in supermarket. Watch out for the sun cream too.

Is it an invention of make up manufacturers that you ahve go get rid of stuff? Bastards!

Actually i stopped eating Ryvita because read they couuld be dodgy too. They taste like cardboard anyway.

Mcnultysexgod · 26/01/2010 17:13

Aveeno cream also good for dodgy skin, but not cheap.

Mcnultysexgod · 26/01/2010 17:14

And of course Aspartame, dodgy too, i found it in our Lemsip paracetamol sachet! And of course never use chemicals for nits, please!!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 17:15

Yes, ryvita are inedible.

Sputnik · 26/01/2010 17:33

I like Ryvita.
But I don't buy them anymore as I would get a pack, eat 2 or 3 then forget them til they went stale. Surely Ikea must do a ryvita-shaped storage box?
We have a 240 eur Ikea voucher which we got for xmas/birthdays, I am drawing up a list. Maybe I will sneak in a le creuset-alike casserole....

Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 17:45

I've recently discovered the tostarelli di kamut... mmm I recommend them, me and dd are hooked!

at your ikea voucher, I'd spend it all in storage boxes.

Rosa · 26/01/2010 17:48

I admit I change our Teflon stuff as soon as it shows a scratch ....Mind you Le Creuset look alikes now that sounds good! I do have one 'normal' frying pan but unless I stand and stir all the time it sticks - I can't simmer in it at all.
Aspartame - seeing as I have just given MR tacchip I will run off and check that!
SOme of my make up is so old I doubt you can read what is in it anyway. Threw out what was left of any L'oreal I had as thats owned by Nestle... ( In retaliation for the Nescafe tin cup pot coffee things we have in the house.) SO I said I would go out and replace it all in COin make up at the Channel counter! He also used my e mail address to sign up for the Nescafe club ( not amused emotion)
I got a type of Vea cream for a slight skin irritation it is fab - used it on MR bum as well !!! Otherwise I use Olay and I hav yet to see what is in it ( scared )

OP posts:
Rosa · 26/01/2010 17:49

I only liked the white Ryvita with cheese the brown ones were horrible....

OP posts:
Francagoestohollywood · 26/01/2010 18:01

I love Olay, but I have the feeling it's full of bad stuff...

Waiting for dh and ds to come back from swimming pool. Dd stayed home with me as she has a cold and was feeling under the weather.

Bucharest · 27/01/2010 09:17

Everything almost has parabens in it....
If you don't want creams/cosmetics etc with parabens you need to really go organic. Another big baddy is lauryl sulphate and laureth sulphate, which, unfortunately is what makes bubbles, so if you find soap/shampoo/shower stuff without it, it feels a bit odd at first. I have a manuka honey organic shampoo at the mo' which doesn't foam and it feels v peculiar.

Am a bit evangelical at times about natural cosmeticky things. Neal's Yard vvv good.

Morning btw!

Which thread Franca? Am I being contentious, tanto per cambiare?

Francagoestohollywood · 27/01/2010 09:28

First sunny day here in weeks

Bucharest, the thread about electronic games. I hear that your 6 yr old hasn't got a nintendo ds !!! . Mine neither.

Neal's Yard is a very good product, however, it doesn't do much for my skin.

Rosa · 27/01/2010 10:44

Thanks for that Buch scary scary stuff. Well I have ditched a few things and recycled the bottles !!!
Deffo going to be more attentive to things see what happened with BPA the big comps said 'No no ' and slowly and surely they are changing and making things BPA free.
Minirosa ill now I had 1hr45 mins sleep last night . Its basically dd1s heavy cold and of course a higher febbre ..She is eating and drinking so ( strike me down ) I have not taken her to the paed......( Shouts at MIL ).I will do if the febbre hasn't gone by Friday........
