Oh wow Bum, you lucky woman

SG: fingers crossed for your parents' last bit of journey

Ooooh yes, Milan looks wonderful in the snow, and so peaceful in certain streets where cars can't drive through (and the air is lovely, not smelly). However, I'm always shocked that the transports etc don't seem to cope. After all, it's always snowed in northern Italy, they should be prepared!!! (I have to say that today and the other day that snowed a bit they had put salt on the pavements/roads well in advance)

I have just watched the last episode of McNulty's bum season 2 (the butts), very, very good. And LT Daniels is "torso of the week"

Rooooooooooooooooosa?

PincoPallino · 21/12/2009 22:25

Rosa must be home chatting away with parents or half way there. She'd be here crying otherwise.

I would not have had tea for them before DH. Now I know that you should offer and have tea ready for every workman that walk into your house. I so learnt now that I even provided teas for the gas engineers when they were fixing pipes on the public road in front of my house - 8 cuppas!! They all loved me though. I bet customs in G are different though.

SG fingers crossed for you parents, what a journey hey. I expect no less of my mother's. I do not care as long as she is here for the 25th morning.

PincoPallino · 21/12/2009 22:26

I am filling myself with wine to fight the cold!

I am going up too. Night night!

Where's Camo???????!!!!!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2009 10:10

Pinco????? Have you survived the cold night?

Rosa?

I remember the first time I made a cuppa for the plumber who came to fix our boiler... I gave him a cup of Earl Grey (I didn't know then that Earl Grey is snobbed in the uk ) and he told me it was "posh"... . Before then I had no idea that there was "posh" food or drink.

PincoPallino · 22/12/2009 10:21

LoL again I didn't know Earl Gray was 'posh' till I met Dh. i've already tols you MIL brings 'normal' tea when she comes just in case we just have the 'fancy' stuff !

Oh and most workman take '2 sugars love'!

Yup survived alright in a drunken stupor!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2009 10:41

Phewwwwwwwwwwwwww

(I do drink my teas with sugar !)

The dc are home before time, today should have been the last day before the holidays, but all schools have been closed because of the snow.

I wanted to take them to the park to make snowman etc, but we are now impigriti in front of the aristocats.

(actually I should have been out doing the last bits of christmas shopping, Damn!)

TheMysticMasseuse · 22/12/2009 11:21

hello girls! hoping Rosa made it, Sui's parents arrived, and Pinco doesn't have frostbite

i normally always give workmen tea or coffee but genuinely didn't expect that on the day of an international move i was supposed to have fresh milk and mugs ready.

let this be a warning to all of you!

off to the airport, sniff sniff.

I AM LEAVING ON A JET PLANE, DON'T KNOW IF I'LL BE BACK AGAIN [insert appropriate wailing here]

if i don't log on again before xmas, buon natale a tutte and thanks for being such a lifeline and a source of hilarious entertainment and support in 2009!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2009 11:26

Buon Natale Masseuse, have a lovely time with your family in Rome ... and come back soon on here

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 22/12/2009 12:07

Ciao MM!!!!!

Yes, Rosa must have made it!!! And Sput!

And yes, i do make cuppas for builders, I wouldn't have thought about it for movers, well good lesson for me then as well.

Having a wonderfully relaxed time.

PippiliveslikeLauraIngalls · 22/12/2009 13:18

For you Bum!!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2009 13:40

You lucky relaxed thing. My ds has been trying to play football with anything he finds since he woke up this morning.

Yes, sput and rosa, we hope you've arrived safely!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2009 14:05

look at the snow!

Francagoestohollywood · 22/12/2009 19:46

I received a text from rosa, she's arrived to destination after long journey

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 22/12/2009 19:54

oh, bless rosa!

Camomilla · 22/12/2009 19:59

hello!! glad SG's parents made it and guess Rosa did too!

MM, good luck on your new adventure! can't believe che faccia the removal men. I mean, I know and offer tea to workmen (not that wwe had many having done most of the work ourselves), but I'd been the same!! (disclaimer - I can only drink "posh" () tea, milk only, or herbal, if I have "proper tea", than just lemon and sugar, guess I'm a softy ). very of your night in hotel... and Buona Natale

Pippi, I'm here, how's it going? heard there's still no gas. M&S mulled wine is very warming .

Just been busy shopping and getting the house ready.. and was trying to login at work today (a bit quiet, or rather, we were all in very festive mood with all the goodies we brought in - hence the mulled wine) but our system won't let me. anyway, DD's having major tantrums, complete meltdowns, DS being a pain so constantly threatened with no babbo natale (well, poor thing, he's very disappoointed as he keeps on waiting for this major snow so he can build a snowman, but not right/right time snow...), and the xmas tree is looking very naked and sad . but, presepe still intact and all the xmas shopping done!! and got DD lovely shoes too. so we're all excited (apparently there's only 2 days til xmas, as DS reminded me before going to bed)

Camomilla · 22/12/2009 20:00

x post re Rosa...

AlliwantforXmasisMcnultysbum · 22/12/2009 20:21

Ciao Camo. lol at your ds, mine just called me upstairs (was reading your post) to tell me "soon, very soon, there will be one day left to xmas...." Goodness, they are so excited, not sure the pressies will live up to excitement...

Sounds like the terrible 2s are hitting your dd. Keep strong and don't give in, and lots of mulled wine helps too I believe.

PippiliveslikeLauraIngalls · 22/12/2009 20:27

bigpippi told me the same, she is more excited about nonna coming tomorrow though.

I have got a stitch where the heart is... I am not having a heart attack am I? what a shame would that be.

PippiliveslikeLauraIngalls · 22/12/2009 20:28

Question: If you invite someone, 4 people, over your house for Xmas lunch how late would you expect them to let you know whether they are coming or not?

Camomilla · 22/12/2009 20:35

but she's only 15 months!! aarrgghh!!

ds would be very excited too if nonna was coming . she'll be here soon though! I suspect his presents won't be a match for the excitment, cos Father xmas refused to get any more Cars-related stuff, or cranes or buzz lighting

pippi, feelinbg better?

Camomilla · 22/12/2009 20:36

I'd say you should know by now...

PippiliveslikeLauraIngalls · 22/12/2009 20:43

Pain is still there. I've had it for a couple of days but quite bad now. boh. Dh is a bad mood so he's not much help. Except for where we are the house is an icebox. I went up one minute as bigpippi had a nightmare and I wish I had gloves on.

Camomilla · 22/12/2009 20:47

maybe it's the cold? (the pain I mean) any ideas when you'll get the gas back?

PippiliveslikeLauraIngalls · 22/12/2009 20:49

No. I do not expect it before Xmas because they are a bit cagey about it.

Camomilla · 22/12/2009 20:49

oh, god, they've started another threaad....
