Westside

SG, thinking of you!

Off to bed too, dh has just come back from partita di calcetto...

Bucharest · 15/01/2010 08:11

Le Creuset v good investment. You can also thump MILs with them.

M and S will also now ship to Italy btw, (not for Le Creuset but other stuff) have just replaced all my towels and am v sadly excited about it....

McNulty, enjoy real life, but not too much!

I too have never had period pains, or even proper periods, just a dribble (tmi) until dd. Now I think they are perhaps more like normal women's periods, but still light. My cycle before dd was about 21/22 days but is now also "normal"

SG has gone quiet.....do you think she is labouring?

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2010 09:03

Does M&S deliver its cakes to Italy? I woke up this morning craving its delicious carrot cake...

It's only ten o'clock and I've been incredibly productive, which will make me feel less guilty as I'm planning to go out and buy tickets for Corrado Guzzanti show. I hope they aren't sold out.

SG????????

Rosa · 15/01/2010 12:46

I have had 3 orders so far from M&S but the packaging was naf so lucky everything made it ok. ( I did post ages ago when it started but haddn't though about towels........)Next also delivers to Italy.Nothing from SG so it must be it ...
Franca and ELio fans they are on tour right now I say as I saw a poster for teh concert in mestre on 28 Jan and it said something Grand Tour.

Rosa · 15/01/2010 12:47

P.S no they don't post food... Sorry Franca !
Oh you know you made the talk round up Franca with your quote about bread!

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2010 13:07

Really?? Let me check

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2010 13:14

Ooooooh

That's silly of them, they should at least post cupboard products, biscuits etc. I for one would spend £££ on those (though I understand I would have to make do without their superb tuna pate)

Yes, new tour for Elio. I think I've seen them at least 8 times live (more or less) .

Rosa · 15/01/2010 16:13

Before I spend a fortune on postage from the Uk DD has decided she wants a 'faries' or Trilli/ Tinkerbell party ( it is March but I am planning ahead as postage last time took 3 weeks) has anybody seen or knows of web sites here..I recall with Gio a Thomas site was found in Italy ......

OP posts:
Bucharest · 15/01/2010 17:27

A Thomas site which is extortionate. They charge 69 euro for a game which I paid £14 for.

I got all dd's party stuff (sea creature themed) from Party Ark in the UK. They will ship to Italy for a flat rate, have everything you could ever want, and I might have a % off voucher. Will go and look in inbox.

Bucharest · 15/01/2010 17:32

I do, I have a 15% off voucher, but it's only clickable through the email... I'd have to forward you the email I think Rosa, if you saw anything on there you liked.

My email address is widdysantahohoho at gmail dot com. (lol, don't ask about the user name!)

I got everything for dd's party (including fancy bits and bobs like confetti, party bags, stickers etc) for about £80 all delivered by courier.

Bucharest · 15/01/2010 17:34

www.partyark.co.uk/children/tinkerbell.html

They do all the Trilli/Tink malarky.

gio71 · 15/01/2010 17:58

that site is a find!!! Thanks Buch-bookmarked for next years party!
No SG............. It must be happening.......

Rosa · 15/01/2010 19:12

Just wanted to say that thanks to LI I was able to hold my own in a conversation about Bimbys today, a few weeks ago I wouldn't have known what one was. One of the other mums in DD's class was raving about hers.

Hope everything is going well for SG, she would probably checked in by if she wasn't otherwise occupied, no?

Francagoestohollywood · 15/01/2010 21:13

Lol lol lol sputnik and bimby

I hope SG is having a smooth labour.

Camomilla · 15/01/2010 23:34

hi everyone! SG, soooooooooooo exciting!!!

MM, hope you're feeling a bit better

mum arrived ok, and oh, yes, she did mention the missing curtain!!!

unfortunately been soooooooo busy with work today, so she was getting a bit restless, but tomorrow we're going to try the sales, what's left of them

have 28 day cycle, used to be like clockwork, especially on the pill, which I started to try and ease the horrible period pains (which eased a bit to begin with). when I had to stop that because of migraines I was put on the minipill, which sent me loopy, so stopped it and soon after felt pg with ds. after ds, i tried differnt pills, but stopped as I started having terrible periods, like starting spotting a week before due, then a week of painful heavy period, so a total nightmare. still like that now after dd, but they seem to settle a bit, less spotting and periods though still painful and heavy, last a bit less (sorry TMI, got carried away, I just seem to be the only one i know with this spotting business.. )

more probs with ds... he seems to have lost all his confidence, his favourite phrase atm is "I'm of no use", or "I'm not good at anything". so had anothher chat with teacher, whosaid she started seing a bit og change just before xmas, so she's doing a lot of prasing, but seems to all come down to the 3 boys he wants to play with who don't want him, as he doesn;t like fighting , but he's so attached to one in particular - the teacher even said she thinls ds cares about him more than he cares about ds and he's been very sneaky. I mentioned we'll try to push other friendships once mum's gone and the conservatory is finished so we have more space for playdate and luckily there was a mum there of this boy I've always liked and the teacher sayd they'd be perfect as very similar in character, caring and just "waht you see it's what you get" and this mum seemed very please with that. had a long chat with ds too, he just seems so miserable, just not my lovely sweet boy it breaks my heart. anyway, hopefully we can put it right for him

anyway, nice to "see" people popping back!

pippi, I haven't received anything.

Camomilla · 15/01/2010 23:35

got carried away.... sorry

gio71 · 16/01/2010 09:06

oh Camo poor DS and poor you! It's so horrible to see them miserable and so hard when you can't immediately fix everything for them isn't it. Sounds a good plan re trying to push him together with other kids and that other lad sounds lovely as well.

SuiGeneris · 16/01/2010 15:25

Thank you for all the good wishes! Sorry to disappoint you all, but it was not labour- just too tired to make it to the top floor, where the computer is, and sans ipod I could not surf or at least check in from bed, which I would normally have done.

All went quiet again on Thursday night and although today babySG seems to be moving in the right direction (downwards)- or at least headbutting me regularly- it does not seem likely that anything will happen today. Which is just as well, given that (1) apparently Chelsea are playing at home, so the roads between here and the hospital are likely to be gridlocked; (2) my Mother and DH have gone off to an antiques fair in Battersea; (3) we have lent the car to some friends; and (4) I am utterly exhausted (woke up pretty much every hour last night).

Camo: very sorry to hear about your DS, I hope things begin to improve very shortly.

Have not had the opportunity to catch up on the last two days' convos- utterly shattered- but Rosa, for clementines and mandarini how about serving them cleaned so there is no white, in their own juice, with some ribbons of "scorza" (sorry, English word escapes me) if you trust the source and, on the side, a mix of Greek yogurt, cream and brown sugar? We had this at a friend's last week and it was extremely yummy. We had a huge bowl between 6 of us, prob much more than if each of us had had to peel our own...

Francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2010 16:26

SG, you are lucky we don't have your tel number, otherwise we'd ring every other hr to ask "any news yet"... . Oh well. It is quite normal to have false starts, especially in your first pg.

Camo, so sorry about your darling ds. I so understand how you must be feeling as we've had that (and probably will) with ds, as you might remember from my posts. I totally agree with organizing various play dates with other children, it does work. Another thing is to find him an after school activity which he enjoys, where he can meet different children and where he is "good" at, be it sport, art, music, boy scouts etc...

Another dark, cold, gloomy day in sunny Italy. I'm fed up!

Sputnik · 16/01/2010 20:31

SG you have us on the edge of our seats here! Anyway, hope you're resting up and take care. Were the clementine you had cooked btw?

Camo hope things improve with your DS, it's really hard to watch them struggling with friendships isn't it. Sounds like you are on the right track though.

gio71 · 16/01/2010 20:38

Ah SG was expecting that the deed was done! Gorgeous day in Rome Franca . I am having early night I think. My sinuses are all blocked with this cold and giving me horrid headache. DP threatening to watch a Bud Spencer DVD so another reason to depart, don't think have strength for that....

Francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2010 20:42

Lol lol lol at your dh watching a Bud Spencer dvd. Is it Altrimenti c'arrabbiamo? That's my bud spencer and terence hill movie
I might start watching La meglio gioventu' tonight.

I was thinking, how about caramelised mandarini and ricotta?

Francagoestohollywood · 16/01/2010 20:42

favourite

gio71 · 16/01/2010 21:36

Yes! His all time favourite closely followed by Bomber! Have put him off and persuaded him to watch The Wire instead after footie finished . Not started it yet and am quite excited! Just had to listen to DP going through list of all Bud Spencers films and commenti from him re all of them..........Am now thinking of changing name to BananaGio as a tribute to my DP
