Oh hello!
SG I'm getting really excited... how are things now?

Masseuse, I totally agree with SG about thinking of all the things you have accomplished in the last few weeks . You are doing well mate!

I'm here pretending to be the grandmother of 5 dolls left on the sofa by my dd and her 2 friends who've "gone to work" .

gio71 · 14/01/2010 16:04

SG how exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Keep us posted
Rosa I can't afford or justify le creuset either but am thinking maybe I could treat myself to one casserole...... If I do what size would you in the know recommend.
at Franca the Nonna

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 16:06

Ah yes forgot to say that I rang my lovely gynae who told me that a cycle of 21-40 days is completely physiologic. She told me to wait another 3 months and see how's it going. It is hormonal and possible that I haven't ovulated over these last 3 short cycles . Not that we are planning on adding to the dc, but it is a bit depressing, no?

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 16:09

Yes, they haven't come back yet to take home their pesky kids.

Bucharest · 14/01/2010 16:09

I'm back.
Afternoon all, we're bored rigid with compiti here....
SG- how exciting! Good luck!

Have discovered this week that am 3rd in graduatoria for 2 posts at school I was at last year....hopefully one teacher will drop out....

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 16:10

Fingers crossed Buch!!!

SuiGeneris · 14/01/2010 18:47

good luck Bucharest!

Le Creuset: the one I use most is the big round one, I think 29cm. It is big enough for soup for 6/8 and large quantities of ragu, as well as MM's gammon in coke. Too small for brasato though (I use an oval one for that).

No news at this end: had lunch ( closed off with two slices of our lovely bread and chestnut spread- felt I could treat myself) then went off for nap and have only just woken up. Cannot decide whether I should time these tightenings or not, they seem to be frequentish and last quite a bit, but are not painful, so figure the less attention I pay to them the better. Oddly when they happen I also go boiling hot- you know the "my ears are burning" feeling of deep-going-scarlet-blushes? But I figure if not painful best not to make a big deal of them, so am resting and surfing MN instead.... But now it is almost 7pm and presumably you have all gone off to cook dinner/put children to bed/be sociable...

TheMysticMasseuse · 14/01/2010 18:51

oh god. deep breath. i think you might be in labour Sui! early, and no telling how long it will last, and it might stop... but... labour nonetheless!!!

v exciting!

and btw, you are doing the right thing taking it easy and pretending all is normal!

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 20:22

Oooooooh SG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Btw, don't bother timing. If it resembles a period pain, then you are truly in labour

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 14/01/2010 20:36

I had to time them as I never had period pains... I still have the piece of paper I was writig them on...

Good Luck SG and be strong!

(Back to my detox)

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 20:40

You've never had period pains? Really???

Mcnultysexgod · 14/01/2010 21:06

Oh, hello ladies, I am back. All well here, actually, the usual grumpy days followed by happy days!

SG, sounds like labour, how wonderful. This is going to be the first baby born on mumsnet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the few of you in the Uk, I would recommend listening to Antonia Fraser's book on Harold Pinter, book of the week on radio 4 this week. It is beautiful, moving, made even more poignant by the fact that AF reads the book herself. SG, if you need anything to keep you all dreamy in your early labour....www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/search/?q=book%20of%20the%20week%20must%20you%20go

MM, hope you find work soon!

Hope everyone else is doing well, (saw an article on Carlo Crivelli today, you are right Franca, amazing, some of his paintings are going to be at the new rooms of the V&A).

I will be leaving Mumsnet for a while, as I want more time to myself this year, to read and be alone really, and spend time with dp. I always end up getting sucked into threads and suddenly I realise I have not done anything all day. So a presto.

Mcnultysexgod · 14/01/2010 21:07

By the way I also have a short cycle, total pain! But since having kids I do not get period pains at all which is wonderful.

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 14/01/2010 21:19

I never thought it was short as I've never counted the days. Only found out when we were TTC DD2. And it only lasts 3 days top so easy peasy for me. sorry TMI.

Ok must go now too. ciao

Sputnik · 14/01/2010 21:29

Wow SG, sounds like the real thing. Early labour can last for ages though with the first baby, I remember going into hospital at that stage then getting sent home again, I was then awake all night as I couldn't sleep through the contractions, but it was so much nicer being at home than in hosp. I eventually gave birth the following afternoon. Anyway good luck!

McNulty, hope you don't disappear for too long.

Le Creuset, is the only kitchen equipment I lust for tbh, my mum has some, and she's had it as long as I can remember. I do however have some Ikea copies like Pippi, one of [http://www.ikea.com/it/it/catalog/products/80131728 these], which I use just about every day for nything from frittata to soup, and a lower padella. They are fab.

Sputnik · 14/01/2010 21:34

Bugger these

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 21:48

The ikea ones are also quite pretty!
I'm watching I'm legend... but I missed the beginning so I've no idea what happened. Need to google it.

Hello Bum, come back soon . Yes, Crivelli super nice, and the story regarding the museo di brera selling bits and pieces of his polittici to get other paintings is quite amusing.

3 days of period, Pippi you lucky thing!

AllQuietOnThePippisFront · 14/01/2010 21:57

Must add that in the big scheme of things Le Creuset do last a lifetime so they are not as expensive as they look.
In re to all these homey stepford things I now wish I wasn;t married so that I could do a proper Wedding List. When we got married we were still at our lovey dovey stage and the last thing I was thiking was stepfordy things so no presents for us. Maybe I should do it again.

Yes Frnaca I am lucky in that dep I know. When I got on the copper coil and had 10 days heavy periods plus period pains, oh I forgot about them!, I thought it was the end of the world and stopped it pretty quickly.

Might go to V&A on sunday. You all have made me long for some culture.

Sputnik · 14/01/2010 22:03

Franca I can't seem to find your email with your address so I can sned you 4&5 of the Wire. Can you send it again to sputnikinspace at gmail dot com?

Sputnik · 14/01/2010 22:05

Yes per use v v cheap if my Mum is anything to go by.

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 22:24

Yes, will do sput

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 22:28

done.
A lista nozze. I'd love to do another lista nozze... (avida)

gio71 · 14/01/2010 22:32

oh you are all convincing me..... Just 1 as an investment to see what it is like isn't too extravagant is it?? Any ideas where I may get a bargain in Italy?
SG it is all sounding very exciting there!!!! Oh I loved that build up stage, the last few weeks. I really look back on that as one of the nicest times of my life pre ds - felt like it was really just me, dp and bump in a little bubble- felt incredibly close to dp and loved just lounging around reading and not having to do anything bar make endless nesting type lists and look at the pristine pram and the lovely Moses basket by our bed - ah the nostalgia.
Keep us posted!
McNulty-keep popping back won't you.

Francagoestohollywood · 14/01/2010 22:44

I'm not sure I've ever seen le creuset on sale here. What about buying it on amazon, deliver it in the uk and pick it up next time you go?

How was your day gio? Did you manage to work at all?

Sputnik · 14/01/2010 22:45

Amazon will send kitchenware to Italy.
Franca, got your email, is that West or Eastside?
Right, should be off to bed.
Wonder if we'll have a new LIer in the morning?
