And let's wait for the repercussions. Now I expect there'll be even less freedom of speech and congregation, expresion . BOH.

Francagoestohollywood · 14/12/2009 12:07

Camo at your ds writing letter!

Berluska: I was shocked to hear this, but I'm now worried that Berlusconi and his evil lega nord mates will use it to curb/monitor any form of protest... (which is rather scary if you think about our secret services, digos and kossiga ). Apparently they've already been monitoring blogs and groups on facebook.

(But lol that he was hit by a duomo replica !!!)

Sputnik · 14/12/2009 12:31

Are they watching us, do you think?

Yes he looked like an old man, which I think is where my twinge of sympathy came from.
Luckily he has his plastic surgeon on speed dial, eh?

Francagoestohollywood · 14/12/2009 12:42

maybe they are!!!

I had a twinge of sympathy too. But I'm a softie... I went to the manifestazione for piazza fontana, I booed Moratti and Formigoni (evil) and then felt guilty . Not much of a protester, am I

Bucharest, Marina is a woman of uncertain age, maybe 45? She is B's first daugher, from his first marriage. Marina and Piersilvio from first marriage; Barbara and the other 2 whose name escapes me at the moment from Veronica.

Rosa · 14/12/2009 12:57

Funny we all thought the same thing - Yes he looked shocked but he looked old as well .
I don't agree with violence but he is going to swing this round to his advantage and really go for the sympathy vote I reckon. I imagine huge bandages, extr a make up to help with the bruising etc.
LOL at the bodyguards as the guy must have been close.
We have the aquadraw mat and it is a huge success . MR just waves the pen about but it means they can do something together which is nice. MR has miniaquadraw mats as Rosa imagines her sitting happily on the plane doodling.
MEGA cold here but its a fresh cold so nice to be out in as long as you keep moving. I have to go and see if I can find an Xmas outfit for MR but I want something she can wear again and all teh Uk sites are coming up nil .

Sputnik · 14/12/2009 13:13

Yes, interesting that his first reaction was to get back out of the car to show the blood off a bit. And then you can kind of see reality dawning on his face.
Bizarre all round really.

Anyway, enough of him, Rosa what kind of thing are you looking for? Muted? Colourful? I am up for some vicarious internet shopping.

Rosa · 14/12/2009 13:40

I want something Christmassy but not with reindeer or santa on . SOmething she can wear again . I loved this dressthe M&S Autograph dress Can't be too long as she has the getting up to do.
Happy with a pinafore style or even trousers if they are fun .
Boden - blah, M&S and Next nil. Adamns often they sneak in too much plastic and mum has carpets so don't want sparks coming out of her bum !All suggestions welcome.
She is blonde with blue eyes !!!!

Sputnik · 14/12/2009 13:50

Shame, that M&S dress is utterly adorable, isn't it.
How about this. or this?

Francagoestohollywood · 14/12/2009 13:51

The one you linked to is very pretty! Have you browsed on du pareil au meme? It is my fav port of call for children under 2!

Sputnik · 14/12/2009 13:51

This?

TheMysticMasseuse · 14/12/2009 14:05

how long till he compares himself to Gandhi?
[hearltess MM still struggles to muster much compassion]

Francagoestohollywood · 14/12/2009 14:13

He did say he is the best PM of the last 50 yrs, or something like that!

Sputnik · 14/12/2009 14:40

This is cute and festive, also this is nice.
Really like the red and white on on the page Franca linked to.

Didn't Berlusca already compare himself to Gandhi? Or was it Jesus?

michymama · 14/12/2009 14:50

Buongiorno ! I used to be a regular mumsnetter but have't been in here for ages. My DH is Sicilian and up until November 09 we lived in Sicily. We moved to Liverpool and haven't looked back ! I have two bimbi, 6 and 7 and just found out I'm having no 3 in August (hence more time to sit on computer as DH is making me rest lots !!).
I'm worried this baby will not get as much exposure to Italian as my other too have, we speak Italian at home but DD and DS both did a few years of nursery so hopefully its grounded into them !
Anyone around north west ???
xx

Bucharest · 14/12/2009 14:59

Michy! Congratulations!
Don't know if you ever knew my MN name, but t'is I, calling in with the votes from the A$$ End jury my love! xxxxxxx

michymama · 14/12/2009 15:57

Bucharest !!!!! How the hell are you ? how's life treating u in A$$ end ?
On the Berlusca note, my DH is very anti-Berlusconi. He has a blog and writes some very controversial posts , we watched Cento Passi last week, good film hoped it would get DH to shut up but its made him worse !!
Have u seen the video of Silvio and the traffic warden

Francagoestohollywood · 14/12/2009 16:19

Hello Michy, congratulations!

TheMysticMasseuse · 14/12/2009 17:29

Michy!!!! i also know you from somewhere else, i was the bella from the sud over there!

congratulations!!! brilliant news. and am glad liverpool is treating you well.

SuiGeneris · 14/12/2009 17:44

Thanks everyone for the Xmas food suggestions- and MM particularly for the gammon recipe link, as I have now decided that's what we are having on Boxing Day- particularly good that it can be made in advance. So, orata on 24th, turkey tasca on 25th and gammon on 26th, with various family members on cooking duty. The nice thing is that with my parents and my sister being here, plus DH, I am sure they will not let me do too much- until 26th, that is... Will certainly take your advice and take it easy.

Berluska: DH showed me the picture in the Times over breakfast and I should probably be ashamed to say that my first comment as something along the lines of "Oh, good", followed by the thought that he would now portray himself as a martyr and milk it as much as possible. Also thought The Times was very (too) charitable in saying that he had got back out of the car "to show he was not seriously hurt". MM, make some space in the heartless corner, I think I need to join you in there- try as I can [is this the right expression?] I cannot muster sympathy. So that's the immediate emotional response.

The raitonal response is that of course I condemn violence, as political debate should be exactly that, debate, not a riot, and, much as I cannot stand the man and his politics, that does not mean it is right to hit him. But I will not expand further on this, Ezio Mauro says it much more eloquently.

SuiGeneris · 14/12/2009 18:01

... But it is very concerning that the immediate reaction of the government is to talk about shutting down internet websites and investigating Facebook groups....

Enough politics from me, before I bore everyone to death I shall go downstairs and have lunch (yes, it is 6pm, but had NCT in the morning, then had to finish Christmas shopping in time to send presents to Italy tomorrow, so got home at 5pm, did the Christmas food shop on the internet, came on Mumsnet, read Repubblica online and now am utterly shattered and starving).

Hi Michy and congratulations on the pregnancy!

Rosa · 14/12/2009 18:09

Thanks for those links - The my little corner one won't link but I tried the red spotted dress ans its only 6m.
The french site looks lovely and has been bookmarked for the future but postage to the Uk is not listed and it won't make it intime for here. I will look further at J Lewis and also Debenhams ???
Michy I remember you from the past - congrats on No3!!!

Francagoestohollywood · 14/12/2009 19:29

Yes, I totally agree with Ezio Mauro. However, I do worry about the reactions of the majority, especially of the lega nord.

Rosa, there are 2 du pareil au meme shops here in Milan, if you need anything give me a shout!

TheMysticMasseuse · 14/12/2009 19:39

of course also agree with ezio mauro but i also think this is the logical consequence of the whole berlusconification of italy... i mean, ok, the guy was a nutter so we shouldn't read too much into it, but who can genuinely say they were surprised?

(i am PMSL at franca boning la Moratti on the other thread)

Sputnik · 14/12/2009 20:09

"franca boning la Moratti"
Franca !

Hi Michymama

Camomilla · 14/12/2009 20:43

hello michymama and congratulations!

Rosa, DD got given a lovely dress from Gap, which I've kept for xmas, it's green with a little navy border thingy and the top to go underneath is navy with red motif, so can be xmassy, but not just xmas iykwim, see if I can find a link

so, didn't find anything dp wanted (mainly because he's very petite so only next xs is a sure thing), found a nice cardy for ds, but not in his size, but at least got his mecano thing. found myself a dress for xmas, not the one I wanted as they didn't have my size, but so proud of myself is not black or grey, feeling very daring in red! naturally, got it out of the back and the stupid woman didn't take the big tag off, so have to go back on wed, just cos I've got time to waste !

SG, glad you'll have some help! take a rest and let the others do everything
