i remember being almost painfully self-conscious at parties when i was a teenager. i never felt like i fitted, and i could barely look at boys let alone talk to them! it wasn't until uni that i losened up. and then i went a bit too crazy (if you can believe it there was a bit of a wild scene at Bocconi!), but then i could handle some wilderness...

Give us 10 or so years and we'll know all about teenage parties. Mind you my DD will probably be a total secchiona if she keeps up current form. DS will be one of those that might get up around 3 in the afternoon.

I wasn't shy, I have to say. I did have a good time as a teenager. I had lots of friends, lots of amici maschi too. But no broody boyfriend. Though one of my dearest friend (the one married to the friend who phoned the vigili) had no probs in asking for 5000 lire !

My first lento was this! Oh my if I close my eyes I am there with my head on his shoulder (he was a dwarf!). I didn't wash my tshirt for ages as he had his perfume. I though he'd ask me to become 'la sua ragazza'. Nothing came of it obviously! [cringe emoticon]

do you think when our children are teenagers we'll envy them? because i think i will... i was so incredibly miserable as a teenager (probably would be EMO these days) so i always hanker back to those idealised movies/tv shows like Beverly Hills 90210 etc to live through a fictitious adolescence.

I think we all do to a certain extent. I certainly did too. That is why teenagers spend so much time locked in their rooms. I had two entire bedroom walls covered in fashion magazines pages, graffiti, song lyrics etc. I would metamorphosize myself into Stefany Seymour and pretend I was going out with Axl Rose! at the thought! Gosh I hope I will be as liberal with my dds as my mum was.

gosh Axl Rose. don't make me think about him. i luuurveed him. then had a massive unrequited crush on real life german guy called Axel, who went and snogged someone else at a party under my nose (story of my teenage life).

if i had had a boy i would have wanted to call him Axel in honour of my miserable adolescence!

I had spiked hair which was flat for school and pointed boots with silver buckles on them...

Yes, big crush on Axl (no e between the x and the l ) despite the faccia da culo. Getting older I realized that it would have been wiser having a crush on Slash who I still find very figo.
