Where are you????

OP posts:
minervaitalica · 30/10/2009 06:45

Ohhh Lady Oscar... Loved it... I remember being 11 or so and the homosexuality theme "clicked" in my head - I thought it was excellent sex education :-) - particularly given that we only got that in biology at school and that wasn't very good. Not impressed at Annette et al though... I was a Mazinga girl (sp?).

The problem is that many of the old Japanese cartoons do not transfer well in English... My DH is not too sure about "Creamy" and "Hello Spank!"... .

Off to Uk this pm, so on that note I will sign off for a few days...

TheMysticMasseuse · 30/10/2009 08:04

great, now i can't stop singing Grande festa alla corte di francia c'e' nel regno una bimba in piu'... those sigle were wonderful weren't they!

Minerva have a great time in the UK!

DemonBradleySlaysPippi · 30/10/2009 08:20

...e tuo padre voleva un maschietto ma aihme sei nata tu...

Oh I was a Goldrake and a Mazinga girl too, and Furia cavallo del west e rintintin...

did we watch a lot of tv those days?

Felt rubbish all night. Not so bad now though.

Hated creamy and kiss me licia.

Camo do you remember the one where she was a little girl and had this bottle of sweets and would became a grown woman when she ate one? That was a bit prurient as well if I remember correctly.

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 09:03

oh, yeah, furia... oh, just remembered Sampei! MI, well, yes, put it like that, hello spank and creamy.... but I was completly oblivious to the whole homosexuality behind LO, never crossed my mind til I saw it mentioned recently , so naive...

pippi, that's what I was thinking last night. We didn't watch much tv, it was only after compiti and til we were 6 or 7 it was a cartoon each me and DB. and bim bum bam was only 2 hrs , but I guess they all had a beginning and end, boh.

have a good time in the uk MI

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 09:18

what a night! went to bed after watching the bright young people doc, checked on DS, no temp, checked DD, 39.6! put her on my bed to strip her and saw her whole face was swallen! so cue me in total panic, ring nhs (why, oh why do they waste 10 mins asking all the details of the caller, can't they just ask the phone no and age of patient and after you explain what's wrong they can ask all the rest?!?! anyway, after nuroflex it went down to 38.7 (and she was over the moon to be awake). nurse said probably teething as she was fine in all other respects. boh, ds never had this.. oh, why oh why do they get these things at night or at w-ends!? so off to gp later, though no temp this morning

JavierBardem · 30/10/2009 09:37

Lol at gay theme in LO, hadn't thought about it AT ALL! I cried for weeks when Andre died.....These days LO would be banned...

JavierBardem · 30/10/2009 09:38

Goodness, what a night you have had! I didn't know teething could give you a swollen face.

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 09:46

pippi, do you mean this? I loved this (this is from asilo time now) and sandybelle, oh, and fiorellino giramondo e charlotte, lalabel, this...

god, forgotten about this, loved sasuke, W i cavalieri del re, really, le migliori sigle, oh, gatchaman (really, when did I watch all this tv?!?!) and one episode of this gave me nightmares for years, like I said last night!

must stop looking at you tube...

wasn't there a pricipessa dai capelli blu?

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 09:49

yes, cried for weeks too, and that love scene is censurata now, at least it said so on you tube. there's a website dedicated to LO I think, i'm sure I read they were planning a movie version

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 09:53

last one, couldn't leave him out

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 11:31

Rosa · 30/10/2009 11:52

Camp swollen face and teething 39 nahhhh virus excuse for the word well actually I don't have a clue ? Try asking the doc wee what else does this virus bring on bet you they will not know !!! ANyway hope it all gets better whatever it is !
Minerva have a good time in the Uk
Franca how is dd?
Japaneese cartoons can't put up with them all wide eyed and just not for me !
MInrosa has had the mouse ( from teh computer) and its very slow now !! Opps

francaghostohollywood · 30/10/2009 11:54

Camo, che spavento with dd . I hope it's just teething and she is fine today.

My dc both have temperature today. Yuppie! But my aunt is coming round this PM so I might be able to escape for 2 hrs

MINERVA, have a lovely time in the UK!

You are both younger than me, I'm a 1970 girl, so I didn't watch some of the cartoons you listed.
Btw, I think I watched lots of TV, with all those tv private popping up in the late 70s and the fact that school finished at 12.30. But I also played a lot, I loved playing both indoors and outdoors and I still remember how sad I was when - all of a sudden - I realized I wasn't interested in playing barbies or whatever anymore (I was nearly 14 !!!!)
Yes, I totally remember the latent homosexuality in Lady Oscar. I think that Japanese cartoons are great, so much like 1800 feuilettons (sp?) and so not pc, which is great

Penthesileia · 30/10/2009 12:07

I'm with you, Rosa. Japanese cartoons freak me out - they're always grunting and sweating.

francaghostohollywood · 30/10/2009 12:18

DD has been perky all morning, helped me tidy up etc. Temperature started to rise at 12. Both of them have a temp, have eaten very little and are now watching tv under a blanket

Ah, and ds this morning discovered my stash of children books and dvds .

Camomilla · 30/10/2009 12:20

I'm a late 70s baby.

anyway, andre' knew she was a she... ah, you mean the women fancing her then?

poor DD's absolutely exhausted, she's sleeping on the airmchair while I MN work, that's the first time she's been really ill, a part from the colds... what's orrecchioni in english?

really these last couple of weeks the LI babies (and big ones) have been all ill! hopefully the rest of the bug season will pass soon..

Rosa · 30/10/2009 12:30

Mumps .........

francaghostohollywood · 30/10/2009 12:33

Oh gosh Camo, do they think she's got mumps?

JavierBardem · 30/10/2009 12:39

Yes, all those channels popping up, we had Telecapri, telesud, teleischia, telesalerno, televerything! My mum never told me I was watching too much telly, but as Franca, I also played lots outside. In the summer we went to the mountains for 3 months and there was no telly reception there, so here you go. Bliss!

Spent the morning at my local junk shops (deep deep east end) and only spent 2 pounds!

gio71 · 30/10/2009 12:48

Oh Camo poor you and poor dd. it could be mumps I guess? I know an ex-colleague of mine had mumps and her face swelled up in minutes, one min was fine and next looked like Henry the 8th!
What a sick bunch of kids we have! Nonni went back today . DS improved, has a less croupy, more normal cough now. I am shattered!Have decided that as this week been a total write off for work I am going to give up for the week and spend pm lying on couch watching The September Issue documentary about Anna Wintour and Vogue. How ds will accept not watching Thomas for the zillionth time I dont know....

Penthesileia · 30/10/2009 12:48

Oh lord - mumps, Camo! Hope not.

Hope dd and ds feel better soon, franca.

Can I give DD peanut-butter, does anyone know? I don't eat nuts that much myself, although I did eat a bit during pregnancy and her first year, so it's not been a nut-free zone, but I have some vague recollection that you ought to hold off with peanut-butter. Is this true? I suddenly really fancy some, and I know she'll want what I'm having.

Penthesileia · 30/10/2009 12:51

Hi Gio - sorry you're about the nonni heading off. Glad to hear DS in on the mend.

Thomas... DD has a Thomas tent thing which she loves - always hiding in it.

Plus DH has spoiled her terribly and she has an actual moving ride-on Thomas which makes choo choo and chug noises and plays the theme tune and everything. She loves that too, although she is such a thrill seeker that its slow pace is not enough for her and she frequently jumps off and tries to push it faster.

I am dreaming now about being able to invite your dear little DS over to play with her Thomas stuff.

francaghostohollywood · 30/10/2009 12:56

I've no idea re peanut butter, as it is n't something we regularly eat, plus I've always been a bit ahem superficial with allergy advice...

Oh Gio, it's awful when nonni leave, isn't it? But glad to hear that ds is on the mend...
Ds was obsessed with thomas at some stage. We still have the wooden train tracks and the little engines.

JavierBardem · 30/10/2009 12:57

Sorry missed that. Hope it isn't mumps. Has she had her mmr? Ours planned for next week...
